| Sarcasm can be a great way to bring a point across but in writing there are many flaws. I recommend you try a satire next time. More subtle and less offending plus it brings the point across stronger. Not bad though, someone had to say it. |

| I give you a 3 for being a master of stating the obvious. I personally think that this site is for entertainment. The rating system is here so people like me dont have to waste time reading shit reports. That doesnt mean people can't write bad back patting reports. I don't see why you care? Are u budda on the mountaintop who holds all wisdom and humility? Damn I dont see what point you're making. Ok so Ghost writes bad reports about him smacking around lamerz. He is rated accordingly. Your "Real lessons learned" is the hight of arrogence.....I'm sorry I didnt see the "Lemuroo guide to writing proper BR" but I guess you are the expert right? |

It was good satire, but you attacked the things we as BR writers like most: ego tripping, superiority, and general amusement at the expense of the great unwashed.

eerr, I agree with Lemuroo
How the hell do you learn a lesson from beating on someone who sucked? There are a few reports (Well, more than a few, but not alot) on here that are posted by decent players beating on public newbies/lamers. I could understand typing up a funny report on playing someone of lesser skill, but adding lame-ass lesson's learned is just gay (see Whoop's lateset).
Oh well, atleast people are starting to post actual battlereports on games they played, not games they made up by their heads....

Lemeroo does have a point. The best battle reports are ones that keep you guessing as to who's going to win. Even when I reported Mark4 vs Upgraded Kakaru, and to most of you, Mark4 was the favorite to win that one... I tried to throw out some red herrings to make you question the outcome until I absolutely couldn't create doubt without lying about the game. My rule of thumb is to make the loser's look as good as humanly possible without distorting the truth of the game. The last time I reported on a game that I was in, it was a losing effort to Fractal_Wave (whom I've since beat 4 in a row... tooting my own horn here).
<B>Hint:</B> Making the loser look good, or emphasizing the times where the opponent "almost" won, MAKES YOU LOOK BETTER, because you "came from behind" or whatnot. This works better if you have something to work with. Mark4 would do well not to report any of our contests, because he's owned me every time. My few bursts of offense failed, and each time, the game's outcome was NEVER in question. That's why you don't read, "Mark4 owns YRM yet again!" by Mark4.
On the other hand, I don't think that a huge % of reports on this site fall under this generalization. Fractal_wave in particular, posts wins and losses, so you never know if he's gonna win when you start to read his reports.
Don't put who won in the freakin title!
Finally, there just isn't enough gratuitousness on this site... and I think CattleBruiser would agree, we need big, flashy, rollercoaster ride, blockbusters! and more of em! |
