uumm, nice report, the pics were pretty nifty.
Sidenote: Melee records mean next to nothing. Maybe that guy has played 600 3on1 bloodbath games and lost 300 or so 1on1's =] That's how I got my record... 3on1 bloodbath games....

| Nukes rock. You haven't seen cost effective until you see a nuke take out a 12+ carrier fleet. When you look at records two things matter. Ladder record with net points per win, and normal record as a ratio. For normal records a player who plays mostly public games should have about a 5:1 win loss before you think they might be good. |

| Just as an idea for zerg tactics. To stop the towers round a raised plateu with minimal troop loses burrow a few lurkers next to it and let the overlord spot for them (yes they do fire upwards). Do it quick before they get tanks on you tho. Then drop >:) |

Mark4: It takes a skilled player such as yourself to pull off stuff like nuking carriers, I'm assuming you are locking them down or something? I suck at that kind of micro with ghosts, defilers etc. and therefore I try never to let the player build that stuff up or I assume I will lose. The Protie would wipe up half of my base and all my ghosts while I was fumbling around looking for the lockdown button. I have lost miserably that way to carrier hoarders trying the hydra/dark swarm etc. and watched base after base go down after being up 2:1 expansions... very demoralizing. My own newbie record on BroodWar is something like 15-10, 0-1 on ladder. I'm proud to be a lame semi newbie! I have fun playing this game.
Pitt: who posted a comment on my failed attempt at this BR-I have played better terran players and they usually squash me. I think terran>zerg in general especially once you get well into mid game. I did write a pair of reports, A Tale of Two Terrans on Temple Parts I & II, my first BRs. In the first I was offensive bunkered and tank pushed to oblivion at the end of early game, I made the mistake of running most of my considerable hydra force at his offensive choke and losing them all. In the second, the terran did the same and as his tank push started, I made no effort to resist but just let the sunkens delay the push while I loaded my hydras into overlords, ran around the back end into his base (he had brought the house to the tank push) and razed it faster than he could say holy shit what was that batman! I think it still took me a little while to win but he was on the run and I had map control, reconned all the bases with zerglings and killed him not too long after. Granted if a good player had a decent push and left enough at home to shun my drop, then he's got containment at that point and I'm probably done. I think quick offensive bunker and tank push (before mid game even) is the best move terran has overall against zerg. |

dude i liked yer BR! I don't know why you think I consider yer BR a failure :) I'm interested in shooting the shit with you and seeing how you handle zvt situations. I really think this is a tought match up and can really get ugly once 3-4 tanks appear supported by sci vessells.
BTW I did read those other BR's but the terran's level of skill kind of sux'ed imho. Anyhow, I usually use lurks v a terran. It's the best strat and you don't even need to kill the terran (a good terran won't even be phazed by the LR) just contain him. However the drop is also a good strat. It just seems that terrans are too great at countering mass hydras.
here's one hint. In your drop hotkey 12 hydras and fill up 3 more olies with lings. Drop the lings about 5 cc lengths away from hydras. Don't drop in range of anything hostile. make sure hydras are hotkeyed (sometimes they lose it when in olie don't know why ) when attacking shift queue attack each marine individually. and run the lings from the side into the rines. that's the best way to do it IMHO. You can actually beat the M&m's this way. Tanks are the great equalizer here tho. Anyhow GL and hope to see you on b.net |
