HAHAHAHAHA 1st comment take that ye bastards...now ...off to the report
#2 Mark4 (strangers.bragg.army.mil)[11668]
What is it with this first comment crap?

This report is better than the others because the opponent is a little more skilled. I'd say another 50 ladder points and we'll see some decent reports.

#3 <img http://www.geocities.com/timessquare/corridor/5555/sch.jpg> (N039P024.d[11669]
I used to do this thing with the rally point on minerals too, but then I once had a horrible game, where I looked at my minerals in mid-game, and saw about 15 probes standing still, b/c I forgot to give them the mine command :(. Since then, I only do this with the first Probes (means till I have one peon for each mineral patch), and then just set the rally point somewhere I can see the new probes, this may cost me some time to mine, but its safer

BTW: how do you know that this buys u 100 minerals? did u try it out?

BTW again: why do you "patrol" your Dragoons in his base? Does patrolling give you any advantage over attack-moving?

#4 YourRoleModel (relay.atinc.com)[11670]
Another quality educational report from AQD3. Heartcutter once advocated "patrolling in troops" to me, but I didn't know why that would be a benefit over attack moving. Mark4 once tried to show me something about waypointing with your nexus, but I never got a full mastery of it. I think he said that he stops after the gateway comes in because it gets too confusing after that.

It sounds like the opponent guy was somewhere around the level of player that I could beat when I was playing... they aren't bad, but can't control the map or make enough troops... just like me.

I think Toss vs Toss is a very tricky matchup, as is Terran vs Terran... Zerg vs Zerg is pretty straightforward. I think this is due to zerg vs zerg not having as much trouble from the one cloaked unit... the lurker. Terran vs Terran means dealing with wraiths, and Toss vs Toss means observers and dark templar. Toss's susceptability to reaver drops means that you have to play mistake free at home... as AQD3 demonstrated by losing 15 probes dispite expecting an attack at his natural.

#5 Thundercracker (170.milwaukee-01-02rs16rt.wi.dial-access.att.net)[11671]
I dunno I didnt start the first comment crap I am just continuing the tradition. mark4 is crabby...somebody needs a nap : P

toodles : )

#6 Chargon (56K-101.MaxTNT6.pdq.net)[11672]
Sombody get on the chat program, i want to try it.
#7 Johnny_Vegas (staff-8.ahnet.net)[11673]
Nice Report. Looked like basic map control. Doesn't sound like that guy could macro beyond mid game.

Lately I've had an interesting thing happen. I start macroing like a whore, and my unit control and micro go to crap. So I end up winning or losing with like a 2:3 kill ratio. Where as previously when I don't macro much my kill ratio is like 3:2. I guess it makes sense. I find that wraiths are the easiest things to mass produce for me in late game, since they are my "go anywhere" force. So it kinda hurts when I lose 30 of them to 2 or 3 HTemps. ouch.

#8 Mark4 (strangers.bragg.army.mil)[11674]
Upgraded wraiths are a very nice unit. High mobility, high air control potential, cloaking... The mobility is what makes them kick ass in late game. You have to crank upgrades from the very start though...

I might as well pass out the starcraft knowledge while I still have a little. Retirement tends to rust away your skills. =p

Johnny, I think you need to have about 20% excess prduction capability. Just before the big attack you queue up units and then go in and fight. Don't be afraid to run your units away if the battle gets long, go back, queue up more units, then go back in again. The 20% lets you pick up any slack.

#9 TheRubberDucky (dfiatx100-044.dsl.gtei.net)[11675]
And who would trust a retiree? I think your just trying to trick us! Mainly JV, perhaps you should come out of retirement, briefly, stay your thing, and go back into your reclusive retirement.
#10 Mark4 (strangers.bragg.army.mil)[11677]
How about we wait a good six months so I have no skill at all, then I'll come back for a 1v1 match with none other than TRD. It should be a close game. =]

#11 Johnny_Vegas (staff-8.ahnet.net)[11678]
I'm not retired Ducky, Mark is.

20% excess is good. Protoss macro is just plain easier than terran macro I've decided. I can macro stuff, but you have to be careful with your masses of terran units to keep them alive. With goons and zealots, they are so damn tough, you can just leave em somewhere and they are usually going to be fine. Also attack moving with zealots and goons is much easier than moving in and setting up your tanks and cloaking your wraiths, while laying mines, dodging storm with your marines and stimming..

#12 Mark4 (strangers.bragg.army.mil)[11680]
Protoss need micro too! Do you know protoss players actually have to click a storm icon on thier templar to wipe out all those infantry units? Storm isn't automatic you know!

As for all that other stuff, you get more effective units for more micro...an even trade off =]

#13 Whoop (pool0786.cvx10-bradley.dialup.earthlink.net)[11681]
Hey vegas good to see u back. As for watching your troops...last night i lost about 50 3/2 rines/meds in about 30 seconds due to the power of psi. Needless to say I was quite unhappy.

Oh yeah and great report.

Patrolling is better becuase for some reason when attack moving your troops will take a second to respond if they find a threat close as they are attempting to kill where you clicked. Patrolling troops attack faster.

#14 UpgradedKakaru (d097.paris-59.cybercable.fr)[11682]
Mark why are u retiring? (besides b/c ur tired of my "click on this banner" spamming...:)
#15 Mark4 (strangers.bragg.army.mil)[11683]
Go read my retirement post on Shockwave's forum a few pages back. And yes, your part of the reason. I never got why every single night you felt the need to be an asshole and spam banner slogans at me, but I guess you have what you wanted. I mean once or twice is a joke. Every single night we are both on for about a month...
#16 Silent Strike (180.freehold-03-04rs.nj.dial-access.att.net)[11685]
The zealot rush vs protoss is the first "weak" strategy I've seen ya use.

After 2 or 3 zealots, you really don't want to produce them until you can get the speed upgrade or you are attacking early vs a radical strategy. Goons do so much more than zealots. They can be controlled to beat zealots, they get better and better as you mass more due to the range factor, they can attack air (which doesn't really matter against protoss til late game) but the biggest reason.. they stand up much better to reavers. A reaver and shuttle can easily kill 6 zealots, while 2 dragoons will give it trouble.
#17 Holy (spider-wo043.proxy.aol.com)[11686]
YES! This movie totaly ownz! Bruce Campbell is a hella funny. You forgot "Planton, Candera, N-*cough*-*cough*-*cough*. Ok then, thats it.
#18 Johnny_Vegas (fink.ahnet.net)[11694]
I hope I can get AOK today. *Drool*
You can actually put your troops in formations and stuff..
#19 Necrosausage! (N044P022.dipool.highway.telekom.at)[11698]
Yup. The movie is cool, kinda old tho (the FX arent so great)

I think it was Plato-Verata-Nectu, but Im not sure :-p
(I hope I havent doomed Earth by writing this ;)

The coolest thing was when the small demon was inside him, and he drunk boiling water to kill it =)

Hey Johnny, did you like AoE? I think it kinda sucked, but AoK looks better. Im still not sure if it wont be too boring with all the mega-defense buildings and the ultra-long tech-tree...
#20 Necrosausage! (N044P022.dipool.highway.telekom.at)[11699]
Yup. The movie is cool, kinda old tho.

I think it was Plato-Verata-
#21 [IceBerG] (ip-205-40.phx.fr.dancris.com)[11702]
LOL!!! Hey Mark, I have to click the storm icon... lol. I suck!!! Problem is I have always been a random player and haven't really learned the hot-keys for all the units. I know troop production, burrow, seige, and build commands, but the spells are deyond me. Probably also because I only recently started to use casters more. Since SO many of my early games were on Hunters, you just don't get to spell casters too often. ;-p
#22 Johnny_Vegas (fink.ahnet.net)[11703]
I liked AOE kinda. Not as much as Starcraft by any means. I never played AOE multiplayer much either.

But AOK fixed everything that sucked in AOE it seems. The graphics are also incredible.

But 90% chance I'll play AOK for a few days get sick of it, and run back to Starcraft..

AOK lets you actually garrison your troops INSIDE your barracks instead of just spitting them out. Inside the barracks you can get back HP and stuff. I don't know man, I just think it would be awesome to take out a charging brigade of knights with some pikeman in a perfect formation. Sounds fun.
But Tiberian Sun and TAK were both failures in my opinion, so my last hope is AOK.
I still remember asking my cousin if he still played Starcraft, and he said "Oh I beat that game a long time ago!". I about laughed my ass off. He thought the fun was over after beating the game. Bahahaaaa..
#23 Ioti (slip-32-100-230-125.co.us.prserv.net)[11722]
I like the troop management in Knights & Merchants. Notice I say MANAGEMENT, not intelligence. It's hella annoying that your archers don't fire when you have them facing the wrong way.
#24 Mark4 (1Cust254.tnt1.rdu1.da.uu.net)[11726]

#25 Ash (adsl-216-103-251-20.dsl.snfc21.pacbell.net)[11729]
Groovy.
See the comments section of report #842 for just about every good line in AoD. Me and Mark4 went off.
Formations would be great in 'craft. Just imagine how many zealots a flying wedge of firebats could take out! Sigh.
#26 ~CB~ (buri.campus.vt.edu)[11739]
Mark, when you go public, just remember the little people that got the BRball rolling back in May ;)
#27 Mark4 (strangers.bragg.army.mil)[11746]
Yeah, we'll give you an honorary share CB =].
#28 ~CB~ (buri.campus.vt.edu)[11749]
Can I trade my honorary share for two real ones and sell them to unsuspecting MAC Starcraft players?
#29 ~CB~ (buri.campus.vt.edu)[11750]
And where are all the raters this week? The first 15 reports or so have been static since last week.
#30 BomberII15 (spider-tp053.proxy.aol.com)[11760]

#31 Ioti (205.168.7.27)[11773]
Yeah, one of the things I liked a lot in Knights & Merchants (and one of the things that made it so enjoyable) was the formations on your troops. If you WANTED to (god knows why though) you could split each soldier into it's own formation and move them individually, but WHY? The formation system on that game kicked a lot of ass, though watching your troops die from hunger because your surfs were too damn stupid to get the food there fast enough was ficking irritating. If you guys haven't played Knights & Merchants, go to joymania.com and get the demo. Right now you can pick it up for like $15 if you decide you like it.
#32 Ioti (205.168.7.27)[11776]
Oops, serfs.... and BTW, in case yall are wondering, I access the net from an ungodly number of places, so don't be surprised to see my ip change a hell of a lot. (remember that if you decided to ban me ;-)

#34 Mr. Merf (dial-up224.twistedpair.net)[11895]
Tiberian Sun and TA:K were failures. They were. Multiplayer sucked ass...
#35 Mr. Merf (dial-up224.twistedpair.net)[11896]
Ducky, I'd wish you luck on the PSAT, but I'll be taking it next week. Since we're both taking it... your loss is my gain. ;-)

MWAHHAHHAHHAAHAHHA!!!

PS: It almost takes thought to type laughing. I don't like it=P
