#4 TheRubberDucky (4.3.100.44)[13314]
This br sux ass.
#5 TheRubberDucky (4.3.100.44)[13315]
Since br.com is branching out, dont you think they should start accepting more raters? i.e. me?
#6 Kung_Pao (207.65.16.67)[13316]
I agree with EFY, TAK is the worst strategy game out at this moment. But if you still wanna let people write lamo reports on lamo games, then go ahead. I am off to play some WarII Bne. bye
#7 Johnny_Vegas (207.213.224.128)[13324]
Hmm.. Well it was short so at least it doesn't use a lot of disk space. heh
#8 .Praetor (128.54.224.91)[13325]
Well, unfortunately, most of this site's viewers are StarCraft players right now, so you are going to need to explain a bit about the game. I got a few details, which made the report mildly interesting, but it was too short and confusing.
#9 TheRubberDucky (4.3.100.44)[13327]
The seconds worst is Dune 2000. They didn't need to make thhis so crappy. They wasted all their money on a crappy dune2 clone, Command and Conqueer, red alert, and tiberian sun. Should have continued to make dune games. Dune 7 should be coming out in a year, not dune 3000
#10 Phuckin-Rhetard (38.29.64.204)[13333]
TAK BLOWS
TIBERIAN SUN BLOWS

THIS REPORT BLEW

#11 DFA (4.14.38.231)[13350]
Wow, I think for people who don't know the game, you should outline the game/ie:what the map looks like/err screw that i'm not wasting my time, give a link to the website for it to check out what th...screw it, i agree i have never seen nor played this game but i will agree with everyone else, it sounds like it sux
#12 Ander Kryst (12.13.100.75)[13375]
TRD, you have it all wrong. Dune2k is the worst game. TA:K was marginally better only because D2K was an outdated game that's only redeeming feature was it's nostalgic value. Dune 2 was great, but it would have been nice if Dune2K was um...better. It was kind of like the beta version for C&C: Tiberian Sun.
#13 Eggfoo-young (128.61.67.91)[13378]
Now a good game was Dune. That rocked. Nothing like having your little dudes battle it out and get more little dudes and going all the way to the big dude at the end. It was one of a kind in its day, and i don't think there's anything quite like it still. If you played it you know what I mean by little dudes. And using the sandworms and following the story line... it was like a rps except not really. LOL
#14 Ander Kryst (12.13.100.75)[13388]
Following the storyline? You mean there was plot in Dune2? :) And more importantly, it followed the books?

RPS Dune2/Dune2K was not. RTS, yes, but not an RPS.

#15 Ioti (205.168.7.27)[13392]
Personally I enjoy TA more than TA:K. I was quite disappointed with Cavedog with TA:K. It sounded cool in concept, but the execution rather sucked. Couldn't have helped much that they lost the BRAIN behind Cavedog when Chris Taylor left... I should have saved my money for Unreal Tournament. :-/ I WOULD be playing TA (original) more than Starcraft if it wasn't for the fact that about a million more people play Starcraft so it's easier to find opponents... that and the fact that you need a Cable/DSL to play with any sort of decent lag. Still, TA:K has a few redeeming features... Boneyards, for example, (Cavedog's answer to Battle.net) works a hell of a lot better than Battle.net, in both interface and structure. Personally, if I was making an RTS/RPS/whatever, I would take some concepts from TA, some from SC, some from Knights & Merchants, and some from a few others, and sort of mesh them together... every game mentioned has good and bad points. Oh, and if you really care about TA:K's workings, I'll summarize real quick:
1) In standard games, you start with one "Monarch", which is the base of your tech tree, and also a powerful spell caster.
2) The Monarch builds various basic structures, including low-level defense buildings, "lodestones", and basic unit producers (or in the case of Zhon, "handlers") which in turn build more powerful builders, letting you build more advanced units and buildings (this is different from Starcraft in that one unit doesn't build EVERYTHING, but instead a Level 1 builder builds Level 2 structures, Level 2 builders/structures build Level 3, and so on)
3) The economy is simply one resource, "mana", which lets you build your base and units. To get mana, you have to occupy "sacred sites" by building "lodestones" on them. The more sites you occupy, the more mana you have available. It's a much more constant flow than in SC, where it comes in in small chunks. (e.g. one site gives 20 mana per "tick" when it has a lodestone built on it) Also, you don't NEED to have 3000 mana to build something that COSTS that, you'll just build it until you run out, and then it'll stop building until you DO have it.

Well, now I'm just rambling... oh, and this report was pretty damn short and rather boring. I understood the GAME behind it and I still didn't like it.

Oh, and I thought PR was banned from commenting? Something change that I'm not aware of?
#17 TheRubberDucky (4.3.100.44)[13396]
I didn't get him banned. Yet.
#18 Ander Kryst (edjproxy1.edwardjones.com)[13428]
I dunno....TA:K has less of a resource management feel to it. When building, you just spent your mana as you got it...hence it almost had an 'unlimited resource' feel to the game. Then again, trying to build 10 things off of a 5000 mana income is tough...

Maybe I'm spoiled from playing too many Blizzard games :P I just didn't like TA:K. I never played TA though...go figure.

#19 Ioti (205.168.7.27)[13431]
If you've played TA:K, TA is pretty similar but with a much less sophisticated trigger system (either win or lose triggers, that's it), two resources instead of one (metal and energy), and it's technological. :-) I guess the resources bit depends on what you feel is more important. In starcraft you:
1) Run out of resources, therefore you need to secure more bases to keep your economy going
2) Must build fairly complex setups to get a base up and running
3) Don't have as many spots on the map to worry about for resources
In TA(:K) you:
1) Don't run out of resources, but they don't come in as fast as comparable in SC (two bases is PLENTY in SC for the beginning, four or five later, but 30-40 lodestones/metal extractors are almost a neccesity in TA(:K)
2) Only need to build some cheap, fast building structures to start gaining (not neccesarily protect, but that's still key) more resources
3) Must worry about more spots on the map, since because resource gathering is much more simple, the resources are more spread out and easier to aquire, making it harder to take out somebody's economy en masse

#20 Ioti (205.168.7.27)[13432]
Oops, hit "Add" too fast...
Also, losing an expansion, especially late game when resources are scraping map bottom, is a much bigger deal in SC than in TA. Losing a screenful of your base is not nearly as much of a problem. Losing that in SC is an almost sure sign of defeat.
#21 TheRubberDucky (dfiatx100-044.dsl.gtei.net)[13532]
Dune2k is better than al cnc series cuz dune 2 is first rts ever FOOLS
#22 Ander Kryst (edjproxy1.edwardjones.com)[13808]
Ducky: Just because Dune2 was awesome 5 years ago doesn't mean it's great now. :)
#23 Will (host228.143.ns1.com)[15321]
TAK sucks because the game loads very SLOOOOOOOOWLY, and plays very SLOOOOOOOOOWLY (especially if you have a lot of units in the game).

When the game is loading, you can go to Bolivia, get premium coffee-beans there, fly back and brew a dozen cups of cappucino, with enough time still to bake a big wedding cake to go with your coffee.

When you create alot of units, the computer struggles very hard to manage all the actions that are going on. Thus, the units move, act, react, and play very very slow!!!

In the time it takes to play one game of TAK, you can play at least 25+ games of Starcraft/Brood War.

TAK's concept was good, but its execution sucked.
Save your money for Warcraft III!!!!
Blizzard rocks!

This site should have space for TA (original) reports. I'd have so much more to contribute if it did.

It seems like I'm not the only one who decided to check out the lone TA:K report on this site.

I must admit I was disappointed by TA:K, I guess the designers, after the TA exp. packs were done, did not want to be accused of following only one track. I don't think it is the worst RTS ever (Armored Moon), or even too bad. It has its strong points. A lot of the critcism, I'm sure, is in part SC xenophobia. The report, however, was not too good. It pains me to tell someone else they've done a poor job... and the poor grammar and speeling could be excused, but the story wasn't terribly compelling. You could do worse, but this report was less than OK.

Oh yes. You are an idiot, Ducky, to say that Dune 2 was first. It is totally illogical. Did anyone ever hear of Dune 1? I have only the emulated Genesis version, but I'm sure a PC version was made first.
