I am beginning to dislike Zerg since they get owned on small maps like Lost Temple. All zerg strategies are the same and are easy to counter unless you play a macro God. If zerg attacks he does it with zerglings and as protoss you simply build one or two cannons with zealots in front and dragoons hopefully bringing up the rear, while as terran you make firebats, it's that simple.
So what does the zerg player do? Goes to hydras maybe. By the time those come out the protoss will have at least as many dragoons, a dark templar, or a high templar. Whatever is the case, zerg gets killed again on choke point maps like Lost Temple.
If not hydras then zerg is going mutas. With no attack by zerg it is painfully obvious he is going mutas. Now there are so many ways to proceed it is funny. Terran can continue marines and medics which laugh at mutas. Protoss can continue dragoons or corsair with templars on defense. In fact, mutalisks have been rendered so weak by Brood Wars that you may as well tech to guardians. If this is the case, terrans can get wraiths and valkyries to massacre them, or as protoss get corsairs. At this point, I suppose that devourers are what makes Brood Wars more even in air power.
Once terran gets irradiate with 6-8 science vessels, zerg is haplessly doomed. Even with scourge, it is hell trying to micro them. I should know, I tried to micro 6 control groups of scourge to take down one lousy fleet of BC's and I failed miserably. Maybe used in combo with a few devourers?
Anyway, I think zerg/zerg vs terran/toss will always go to the terran/toss on Lost Temple unless the zerg players are macro Gods. Also, I am speaking of choke point maps that are small. As zerg on Killing Fields I do not think I have ever been beaten, or at least it has been very rare. I can expand so much and raid so many expansions with the quick movements of the zerg force that losing on killing fields with zerg means you are not quite playing properly or your opponent is very good.
I liked your report. I hope to do one on Killing Fields soon, if I can get anyone to stop playing Hunters and Lost Temple long enough to do so. |

thanx for your comment, i was madly refreshing to how my BR did hehe, well, zerg/zerg vs terran/toss is hard cause they have a lot of counter for zerg attacks.
But, in the game, my team was intially on top cause we had tech and expansions while terran was busily defending toss.
Also due to the fact that he made a lot of vultures, I would not have to worry about a massive unstoppable force of mm's or an attack from toss, since he lost his units defending his base.
With zerg, the key is to make xpansions whenever possible, especially after an attack, and defend them while making a lot of units and tech. With the large force, you use it to take out xpansions or prevent attempts for expansions.
The key to winning with zerg on Temple, is to make get as much minerals for sunkens and spores, expanding before your enemy, and tech late, enemies have as much of a hard time as yourself in taking out a good sunken spore defense system, not tech units)
We should of conserved our forces, that 20+ mutas that died, prevented us from defending well and stopping expansions from our enemies.
If they start with MMs, go lurker tech and ensare,
If corsairs, plus dts or other ground units ie reavers, go spores instead of mutas and go power hydras. ( he wasted his money on useless corsairs)
If there are a ton of cannons at ramp, expanding again is wise:) he has no attacking force.
Just to prevent Vramm from losing faith with zerg :) this is just a reminder of what zergs should do on small maps.
More emphasis should be put on containment of enemy rather then taking them out in the beginning, since you lose the valuable units to their good defense at home.
Instead, make them lose valuable units when they try to prevent u xpanding, use the quick ability of zerg to take weak expansions.
When you have 3-4 healthy expansions running, with lots of uprgades and multiple units vs their 1 or 2 epxansions, there will not be as many tanks, science vessels, BCs, wraiths and the upgrades to make them deadly, to counter all the zerg attacks. This should be in the late game.:)

CAN'T RUN WITH THE PACK, HUH!!!
oh the wounds...
Actually I am psyched about this report! My name in print!!
This was good game that we should have won. We had Gambleren (prot) down for quite a while. But we didn't take him out as we should have.
Lesson's learned:
#1 we should have killed his expansion early in the game. This was biggest mistake we made.
#2 I was criminally low on gas most of the game--should have spent more effort taking out cliff cannons and definitely should have expanded to upper left island earlier. Only did this at end of game.
#3 need to learn to use Zerg spellcasters...watching what Jeez did to a MASSIVE opposing force with dark swarm and lings was truly inspirational. I think he must have taken out 75 m&m's. Ling's without swarm will only go so far late game even with multiple upgrades.

VRAM zerg own any map with a gas/min natural
the choke can also help with zerg high ground sunkens are godly and they damn well better be at 125 min and a drone |

| dark swarm helps units from ranged attacks vram so melee units have free reign in it |

| Not that I don't know about them but zerg lategame on a small map suck. Maybe I am not good enough to micro an attack with melee units simultaenously as dark swarm is cast and ensnare with zerglings and hydras rushing in... I sure as hell know that it stops air when I put my hydras in it. Anyway, if you think zerg owns so much, let's play on LT. I'll be Protoss and you zerg. If I survive the early zerg attacks and get to templar/dragoon pumping/archons... I can watch how you combat it. |

Sounded like a pretty good game... it's pretty hard for zerg to overcome terran and toss tech though.
This reminded me of some of the older reports I enjoyed so much when I first came to this site in the early summer. |

| A very well written report, of course it lacks a bit in describing how valliantly the toss fought throughout the game! ;-) |
