Heartcutter is so cool that he can write sort of a rough game review and it turns out great.
I can't wait to see a real report on a real game... Heartcutter style. Deon Woodsman?
What I liked about reporting on AOK is:
1 - I could go back and watch my game as an observer.
2 - It didn't matter yet if I was a tactical master, because no one really knows the game that well here yet.
3 - It gives you a chance to do something totally fresh, rather than a 1-1 lost temple report.
4 - There are a ton of units, and they all have a place in the circle.

Ok, just a warning, this suggestion may be total crap since I don't even have the game but just the demo!!!
Still, have been playing the demo a lot until I get the real thing. (Where I am the real thing isn't here yet.)
Regarding the Celtic woodraider thing, I had the same problem as you. The seige weapons kept killing my own men. So what I did was I switched to battling ram. Yes, the ram cannot kill troops but more often than not you really want the seige weapons for the buildings and archers when I play the English (they have longbow men) is better at killin troops than seige weapons. Anyway, the ram is real good at killing buildings and they don't flatten the woodraiders. I have had great fun using woodraiders to guard the battling ram and plow my way through a whole base. Also I don't think this problem is with woodraiders only because the catapult thing flatten my knights as well whenever I use them. (I am a calvery guy at heart thats why I liked the Japanese in AoE.) |

Nice strats HC. I've been testing my own ones against the computer set on hard. I found that if you do an archer rush you can totally rape someone who tries to rush with men-at-arms, assuming that you're not on a tiny map.
Another cool thing to do with archers is to run into an enemy town and hit stand-ground. Then roll in some trebuchets and unpack them in the middle of the archers. It works kinda like a tank push but much less subtle. I've leveled a moderately defended base in a few minutes using only about 20 crossbowmen and a couple trebs.
Oh yea...you can see a real trebuchet used in the new movie <I>The Messenger</I>...the one about Joan of Arc. It rocks! |

a few things to help you by reading your report.
-build 30 vills in dark..put them on mostly food and avout 6 on wood (try not to farm until feudel age) lure boars and I also lure deer with my scout by running behind the dear and they jump towards my tc...and with 30 vills you can quickly advance to castle...I advance to castle with 30 vills
as soon as I hit feudel I research wheel barrow and loom if I have enough time and I usually build a market and a blacksmith and advance to castle
when you hit castle many things to do...
I like to build 2 stables and get about 6 or so upgraded knights (blacksmith) and build at least 4 tc's!!
and try putting the onagers on no attack mode so they won't shoot while your infantry is attacking =)
build tc's near as many gold patches in the game because it's the most important resource in imperial..
