First comment! now off to read it...

Nice report... I just have one thing to say about terran vs. mass mutas.... VALKYRIES!! If you put something up to take the blows (i.e. Battlecruiser) and have about 6 valks behind then you have muta blood... stimmed rines work but not as effective as a few valks.

Other than that good report keep trying and you'll be bound for victory.

I agree with everything except for accepting defeat to become a better person. You should have cried imbalance and swore at him, then later, you could sneak into his office and smash his computer.

Science Vessels? Irradiate? I also agree with Ana, valks are great vs just about all zerg air if you upgrade them.

Err, valk's suck :) I'd rather upgrade optic flare or lockdown against a zerg, then waste minerals/gas on a valk :)

#5 HardDrive99 (proxy1.cgma1.ab.wave.home.com)[16495]
I used sci vessels and irradiate as much as I could. I had 5 going non-stop making irradiate raids. If I had more gas I would produced more but the wraith production ate a lot of it up.

In a previous game to this I went valks and wraiths and the valks did not do as well I would have liked. Grinder simply spread out his mutas and brought some right in close so my own valks were receiving splash damage from their own attacks.

This battle was pretty close except I let up at the beginning thinking I had my opponent on the ropes. If I had done a few more drops on islands he didn't control early on there would have been little chance that he would have the resources to produce the devourers he did. The cumulative acid spore damage makes them extremely nasty to a terran.

But I learned one very valuable lesson in this game that I applied to our rematch... marine drops are the best counter on islands vs a zerg.

Intese Rivalry is a better name. I think I'll use it
#11 Alita99 (proxy1.frmt1.sfba.home.com)[16536]
Umm Ducky,

You LOST that game, remember?

=p
#12 Rupeo (1Cust156.tnt7.sfo3.da.uu.net)[16537]
I suggest you try using valkaries again. What were the number of valkaries and mutas involved in youre earlier battles? Such a wide area of splash damage can only be mitigated so much by micromanagement. Also, I dont know how you got the impression that valks could be harmed by their own fire, but you are mistaken. Dont use exlusivly valks though, despite what YRM says, valks will be radically effected by Acid Spores.
#13 TheRubberDucky (dfiatx100-044.dsl.gtei.net)[16544]
Alita you didn't exactly win either.
#14 Alita99 (proxy1.frmt1.sfba.home.com)[16570]
Actually, I did win, Ducky.
Remember, both of you allied with me. Don't know why, but you did! =p

Uuuhh, Valk's still suck... early island game you should take advantage of Wraith cloaking... and in later game, valk's still suck cause devourers/scourge and upgrades come into play. Valk's are slower than wraiths too (I think), take up too much minerals/gas (especially considering they have no ground attack), and they simply suck against devourers.

But yeah, they don't hit themselves=]

Proud advocate that Valk's Suck :)
#16 Warphead (johnny.bath.ac.uk)[16583]
I whole-heartedly disagree with the phrase "first blood is always the sweetest". VENGEANCE is always the sweetest =D
#17 Omnipresent (catvnet-116-96.catvnet.com)[16586]
I once played a game where my six or seven valks killed 2-3 squads of wraiths, 2 squads of corsairs, and a squad of scouts, without losing a single of their number because of repairs in between battles. The key? I had better upgrades, and valks with better upgrades own. People always bring up these numbers on how valks can't beat such and such cost for cost and what not, but all I got to say is use what works for you, and I've found that in a lot of island games valks have worked for me.
#18 patheto (rigel.tct.net)[16639]
I have to disagree w/ both warphead and hardrive: neither vengeance nor first blood are the sweetest. the sweetest is being absolutely GAY! stuff like offensive sunkens, or my recall rush(described in my most recent br). scourging ovies is also totally gay, as are nydus slips
#19 HardDrive99 (eag40481.corp.novatel.ca)[16795]
Federation - On an island map which terran forces should I have used? My strategy consisted of mostly wraiths, sci vessels and BCs. Wraiths actually did very well against the muta/devourer combo. I just had to move to a more hit and run attack mode rather then a full out assault that I could do before devourers appeared. Irradiate/yamato devourers/olords and take out mutsa with cloaked wraiths. Works very well.

My biggest problem is that I let Grinder out expand me and take map control. Any time you do that you're asking for a butt kicking. If I had made only two more M&M drops this game would have been 100% different. Complacency leads to death in SC. He could almost throw away units while I had to be very careful how I spent and used my resources.
