See, SuperGeneral, you haven't played it. Anyone who has beaten Star Control II would never commit the sacrilege you have. In revealing your ignorance, I hope you can be humble. I was reading on a forum the other day, that one of the fans just got a new PIII, etc., etc., but seems to only play largely Star Control (with a small bit of Q3 mixed in). Of course, he had to find a compatable sound card, but that was no price to pay for THE GREATEST PC GAME EVER CREATED.
Understand? In another comments section, Johnny Vegas once said that the greatest sequel that could ever be made would be Pong 2 ("can't prove me wrong, can you? Punk."). He was wrong. Another Star Control would be a force to reckon with on a level with the second coming.
No, that is an exaggeration. Not that many people are religious these days. |

Hey damnit, no Thraddash-cigar-lighting-backdoor-flame-belching maniacs. Or Pkunk resurrectionists! Man this really brings it all back =o.
Gotta give props for choosing the Druuge, thats a real man's ship, a sharpshooting Dr Kevorkian that looks like a MagLite backwards.
How did you play and report it all? Fight a battle, jot down notes? Sounds super intensive.
I think SC4 should be a Blizz/Ford effort, Wraith/Arbiters/Corsairs would fit right in hehe.
Wish SC2 had net capabilities.....

| Shor[Y], dude you are crazy. Speed and manueverabilty over firepower. Plus hurling insults at opponants. How can you go wrong with Pkunk? I don't know how many Ur-Quan & Kohr-ah ships got smacked around by my weak & puny Pkunks. Dodging energy blasts & spinning disks, coming in, flying alongside, hitting them with a death spiral, then flying away calling them a dumbass. How can you beat that? |

I had StarControl 1 for the Genesis... the little 3D solar systems were cool.
StarControl 2 came out for some system I forget the name of (I didn't have a PC until my senior year of college) the system... it was like the Playstation, but a few years earlier and not as good. (came with a cool racing game called crash and burn)
Anyway, I used to pay like $10 to rent this system and Starcontrol 2. I never was able to finish the game, but I remember there were some kind of enemy ship that was virtually unkillable... the main badguy's ships or something.
It was a cool game. My favorite thing to do in games where you can customize a flagship, character, or player is to beef it up to no end and squash the computer's best efforts. I remember getting my little planet lander so powerful I could land on magma planets and stuff.
As long as they don't get it in their heads that they should make this game's AI impossible to beat, or full of cheatingness, I'd buy it. |

| Star Control 2 also came out on the 3DO, YRM. The molecule is the Spathi Eluder (known as the Discriminator in SC 1). And, yes, the Backward Utilized Tracking Torpedo (B.U.T.T.) was one of the best weapons in the game =). Nothing like fighting while running away. |

Ya Spathi owned badly, but my friends always saved up a Chmmr for that or my Arilou.
Hehe, the Lost boss dude was the Su-Matra, had all these homing weapons that also served to knock you off your trajectory. But could be easily killed with the Pkunk doing side strafes.
Great storyline, great production, great combat system. SC2 = god game. |

I had my capitol ship WAY powered by the time I couldn't rend the system anymore... 3D0, that was it!
.Praetor, talk to your friends over there... maybe some of the staff here at BR.com can help beta test the game and report on it. If it's great, and we promote it here, I can think that at least 100 people would buy it that maybe otherwise wouldn't... and that number could go much higher.
Mark, Johnny and I have talked about getting this site closer to the level of a Gamespot or something... using our reports as actual reviews. Hopefully, they'd allow for multiple screen captures.

| for those of you who wish SC2 had a net feature,Timewarp will probably include one later,wich is a very good new...Am I the only one to take the nemesis here????I just love his second special...when holding both keys he shoot crew member wich get in the other ship and kill the crew =]that's pretty good since you can get your crew back once they assassinated all the other members...it is good agains slow ship,so I usually end up having one...Eluder rules too,perfect against drone(who use drone anyway?) |

I think Starcontrol 1 and 2 are the best games every created, i never played the 3, its hard to find if somone has a crack send it to me...=)
i wish they would finish the timewarp clon or somthing and make it so we can play on the net, i just love piloting the pkunk ships,. imagine when we will all be able tom plat sc on the net, i am sure nobody will ever leave tehre house anymore,=)), i wont thats for sure |
