Awesome report... I can't emphasize enough how great it is to see high quality non-starcraft reports come out. Keep them coming, and don't be discouraged by any "it's not starcraft so it's not good" comments that may follow.

I wanted the screenshots to look MEDIEVAL and old thats why I hand cropped them! Maybe I could have done it some other way, or just made it better... I am a bit new to Paint Shop...
Was the time span annoying? I thought it would add to the "historical" feeling of the BR but it was a bit disturbing when it takes 80 years just move across the map...or maybe realistic? |

Nice job, just a few comments/suggestions:
The time thing was a bit much. It took years for trebuchets to kill a few persian guard towers? I think that you should ignore the "offical" game time and use what makes sense to you. A couple of months/weeks for an army march, a few weeks for a seige, a couple of days for a battle, etc.
You battle descriptions are excellent. I could really picture what was going on. The pictures needed to be a be a bit neater and not hand cropped.
Chinese people don't commit hirakiri, as far as i know. I believe that hirakiri/seppiku is a form of Samurai suicide which makes it japanese and not chinese. Chinese nobles did commite suicide by eating a pound of salt, however. Maybe you could use that instead.
Overall, a nice effort and good relaying of the sotry: 7.5

Maybe you could make it look midieval by rather than handcropping, tint it yellow or brownish (whatever makes it look old) and then use some rip-around-the-edges feature in PSP. I'm not sure if there is one, but in my experience, PSP has a lot more features than any one person could discover in a lifetime. Well, that's not strictly true, but still...

I think the time line stuff was good but like some one else said I think you should refine it a little. I am not a big fan of the game but I think your battle report might make me dust it off again. Like everybody says, keep them coming.

The Time line I used is based on the real time except that I let the time go on a bit faster in the beginning of the game, and that I changed some to get it a bit more realistic. The setting were: Large map, resources high, dark age, normal speed and not explored map...dont remember the others.
How do I know his imperial time? A lot of people are talking about "castle time" and "imperial time"...how can you know that? |

Very, very good battle report. Yes. I read it all the way throught. No. Your English isn't that bad.
I don't see many AOK battle reports. But this makes sense. Most battles are about the same. There isn't much more to add. Fastest ecomony wins. There really is not defense after castle age. Mass and swarm attacks rarely work. Games all take on a sort of sameness. You can try to spice it up, but they're all about the same.
Nevertheless, I still enjoy the game from time to time. And I enjoyed your report. Too bad about Gunnar, though. Seemed like a nice fellow.

This is a good report I agree........
though I disagree that all AOK are always "almost" the same or anything of the like.....there is near;ly as much variety as starcraft though because aok has perhaps a less interesting/variety of unique units available to each individual race the game play on different maps and races and strategies differ greatly.
And there's always a "forgot to build a 3rd/4th stable etc"..in aok just as SC....
You got great englinsh and just to be a b@stard -chinese people don't commit suicide/hari kiri when they fail.....its the jaoppanese that do that......overall I reckon this is a great BR and deserves a 10 over the "only 10 rating aok BR in this section".
I would talk to more about aok strats but........hmmm longbows + pikemen against champions/cavalier/skirmishers would've been an utter failure had the chinese got their E.skirms and champs there sooner. Though I'm not sure that guy could micro it porperly -(he's chinese and got to the ages late and had less peons at around feudal.....)

| Although the game itself was (IMHO) a bit boring and one-sided, the BR is amazingly well-written, mostly thanx to Gunnar, of course... I also liked the usage of time, however i do agree with ][~illuvatar~][ about modifying it a bit... never mind the errors made in it (chinese seppuku?), it's not the first, nor the last one u'll make... keep it up and good luck on future BR's! |
