| Lol! You know, I dug around and I actually found a copy of Heretic in my old CD pile. It was re-released a couple of years ago with an 'expansion' called "Shadow of the Serpent Riders" or something like that. Anyway, I reinstalled it and downloaded GLHeretic, so it is hardware accelerated! It isn't 3d modelled of course, but it looks better than software. Maybe I will redo this and include actual screenshots for part 2 and 3! |

Not a half bad introduction to the fanfic. The writing is nice, it made me feel "in game."
However, there is no real meat to the story itself. Yes, yes, it's an introduction, and yes yes, most people (me included) need a bit of background information on the game before reading the report. But nothing really happened in the present times for your story. It was like, "a guy went into this place, and while he's going there let me tell you about why he's there."
If I was a rater, I'd take a 9, flip that beyotch upside-down (because maybe I want to make puppies), and toss out a 6. But Dr.A's probably gonna walk away with that reward ;D |

Heretic is a much more atmospheric game than Doom. Consequently, it's easier to write a fanfic about it. Hell, the instruction books to Heretic and Hexen give you a lot to start with, but for some reason I've love to see a Doom fanfic. (don't mind this paragraph it was nothing to do with my critique just rambling ^^)
I don't know if you intended this to be rated in three different parts or as a whole. The writing is REALLY SEXY. You have a professional writing style unparalleled to any fanfiction writers at the site. (I don't know about Praetor., I've never read his stuff)
If I had to rate this part alone, I'd give it a six, though. (Don't throw stuff at me, in part 3 comments I'll show you the rating that you'd get if you submitted all three parts, intending them to be rated as one) This introduction was incredibly short and nothing essentally happened. I have much praise to heap upon the overall story, though, in the part 3 comments section.
