I'm glad unlike before people don't flame me for using way too much art. I guess you realize now with replays making simple battlereports kinda obsolete the artistic aspect of battlereporting is more important than ever.
Sorry for the unfinished report, I just really got tired of working on it for more than two weeks without getting feedback to assure me that I am doing fine. Now I will read it again and try to improve the text, also maybe pick better screenshots for some of the events.
[EPIsode]:-=V=- is one of the coolest players in the world, if you think he isn't great it is because you don't know his reasons to play. This was not a tournament game, it was a friendly game of two very skilled players trying to outsmart each other.

| my god, i've just seen the flash. If there's someone who isn't in the hof, but should, it's you. Testosterone, crackheadjeb and drawesome, they're all newcomers. They may release alot more reports than you (combined, test has released, 6?) but they will never reach the quality with multimedia that you have (no offense, random observation) This was definetly worth the wait for your next report. When i saw your name, the first thought was "damn, another impersonator." But when i clicked, i quickly saw that this was the real thing! I quickly scrolled downward, not wanting to see the flash, as to not spoil it on a pentium 2. But the report was great. The flash, that pushed my rating from a 10, to an 11! Well CKane and some others, you should have read the last paragraph, and comment #50 ;]. The report isn't finished yet, but still I posted it. The last few days there weren't any good reports out and more importantly I had promised to release it last week.
Everyone has their own way of entertaining people, Dref and some others have unique ideas and great text, WWC3, Dr.Mediocre and Jamellan have the funniest reports, Testosterone and me have our talent with art, and even Bob can entertain some NHers with his trash talk and reports that make the players seem like idiots. I aim at a bigger audience than most of the reporters here, and I don't think it's cocky to say that I achieve my goals.

Man....................this Bob The Newt guy sure is giving a really good BR a lot of criticism. I realize that the writing is not the best, but it is still good and easy to follow. Add in the pics and a great intro and I makes for a very good BR. In addition, keep in mind that Breeze's native language is not English (this is no excuse off course, but I'd like to see any American write a flawless BR in another language).
The pics/intro/graphics are definitely straight 10s, and maybe a rating of 9 would have been more deserved. Still, I see no reason for Bob's harsh comments. It is reports like this one that makes BR.com a popular site, and quite frankly I find it very unprofessional that the staff at this site seem to have personal vendettas against certain contributors. The very contributors that 90% your audience seem to like.
And btw, English is not my native language either so feel free to flame my writing Bob (I know you take great joy in that).

I have a general idea of what you're talking about-- EPI's first few games on 1.08 PvZ don't do him justice.. He was being stubborn about using observers in the matchup because he never got them in 1.07.. He's lost to a number of people who he would normally own just because of lurkers..
What I'm talking about is his awesome play in 1.07 and lately his 1.08.. Basically, he can storm two places at once, with accuracy ;] He knows the PvZ matchup incredibly well and abuses it like crazy (in the toss' favor :P) I'll try to find you some replays of him playing well.. As Breeze pointed out, EPI often uses the same strategy for games in a row just to "show off" ..

Quite Excelent......I must give you props. The Flash is what did. Since it wasn't such an excellent game, although the players were good. No PvP make a good game , although there are a few exeptions. I give it a 9.5. You only lose the 0.5 for two reasons
1. Just OK game
2. Writing is goo dbut there is better.

Nexus, you could always ask -=V=- about me if you want.. He shares his replays with me and has told me most of the stuff about Yun playing under his name for BW.com.. I also know that one of the main reasons that EPI allowed that was that he was impressed by Yun's skill.. As he himself said.. Yun is gosu at PvT and PvP but not as good at PvZ, will -=V=-'s specialty is PvZ..
I am by no means insulting either of them, especially not -=V=-, who I like to consider a good friend. | scarab, i've sent 8 friends to this site to see this report. When they go to the comments section, they're horrified at a 7 being one of those ratings. They think "how could anyone hate this report." Don't get me wrong, these people have read some of the best reports here, mainly by heartcutter. But for them the text was what a br.com report should be, a long description of the game with so much detail you might as well be there. Humor and passion, those are more like the side shows for a br, in some cases they may be in the mainstream, but a perfect br for me is one with insurmountable detail, and a good description of the game. Of course, it takes a lot of tries to competely read breeze's reports, which are so detailed that sometimes i can't follow the actual game. in other words, don't listen to the three master flamers, just change your text a bit. |

Yeah the()vermind is right... I very often have difficulties choosing which events that happened in the game should be thrown out of the report.
In the past I was making more than 300 screenshots per game and rarely missed any events during a game, now with replays I see even more. Keep in mind this particular game was 30 minutes of harrasment all over the place
I liked one of the comments at broodwar.com, "promoting a battle". ChromeD~BOoGiE also gave me a very nice idea - just make a really nice flash intro promoting a game and have the downloadable replay in the end. Way more effective than wasting my time on a text that won't be read by most people because of the included replay. |

Also please note how much my reports were improving exactly because I was always paying attention to criticism i.e. I stopped making first person reports, started picking better games to report, I'm using less screenshots and collages now, etc. etc. many small things that I learned from the people who commented.

I think that Breeze is more than correct with people exagerrating these so-called deficiencies in the report..
First off, how do you accurately judge the points for this? Logically it would be (of course) the quality of the report, but you also have to keep in mind the quality of other reports in the site. Will someone search through all the 9's in this site and tell me if this isn't better?
The ratings are, in Mark4's words: meant to help the site's visitors pick out the handful (or less) of BR's deemed worth the raters' time, as most people don't want to spend more than an hour on reading text about a game they would much rather play. Now, with that in mind, wouldn't that mean that the ratings set the quality of this BR against the quality of every other battle report on the site?

Back to my first point, should I really search through the reports of old and point out "9" reports that, in comparison, are utter trash? Breeze is good at graphics, has better contacts in terms of players than most of the reporters of this site, and obviously devotes a lot of time to his reports.

...There is a forum you all know for flaming each other. Personaly, I dont like Scarab because of the numerous times he told me he was gonna lynch me kuz im black,
but just because his personal beleifs are off, and if we met him in person he'd shit his pants before he could say any of that to anyones face doesnt mean that all of his 'constructive' critism is off.
There are a few good points here and I think you should listen to some of them. Like about the writing and im glad you corrected it. But having it done the first time around would have been much better.
Also, this report did not deserve a 7. Its not a 10, but certainly not a 7. I assume I dont know more than the raters but everyone makes mistakes.
Overall, Breeze goes to BW.com, Scarab doesnt, everyones happy. One thing I would like to see is Scarab vs Breeze 1v1 and ()vermind BR it, because, well, because he always seems to make sence :D.

Okay, everyone else seems to give an overall 11/10 to this report, but the game has to be a five, if you submited it alone. Your graphics are unmatched, the time spent could be interpreted by some to be the sweet reward of hard work and determination. I loved everyone of your other games.
Except this.
I watched the replay after this game, and I personally want those 35 minutes of my life back. I dont know if its possible to have a good pvp game, but this was far from that. DIDI8 had his gateways idle practically the entire game, there was few, if any, battles, the players seemed to be afraid of contact with the enemy or even to take the middle. After the 3 dt "raid" that ended in a mysterious (if totally for no reason) retreat, -=V=- didn't even put his probes back to work in his main for ten minutes. DIDI8 didn't get past the first attack upgrade. -=V=- never even tried to take his mineral only. Pick a better game! plz! |

It seems that there was never a closure on this argument. Breeze came off as slightly arrogant, and Ana came off as a fucking flamer. Now, Ana has a point that Breeze should stop being so self hyped, but Breeze published a great report, and the English was OK even though there were some soft spots. So, Ana should not have come down so hard. However, these people hate the shit out of each other, and will kill me for whatever I say. Better shut up.
9/10 for the gosu flash but not so great writing

The flash was awesome. The 3-D maps were really cool at first. Then, as I continued with the report, I realized that the maps told me very little about what was going on. I was struggling, forcing myself to read through this to the end....
