All I'd like to say is that if someone puts 25+ hours into something, he's entitled to a substantive response and critique from the raters, AKA Dr. Awesome, unless the rater thinks it's almost perfect and the only thing that can be bettered is the game.

Perhaps the "too damnned long" comment was a shorthand (and misleading) way of saying that:
"Terran versus terran matchups are inheriently boring. Both competitors fight for scraps of land, rather than directly slugging it out or using innovative strategies. While the author tried his best to portray this as an epic game, he was unable to overcome the entertainment shortcomings of the typical terran vs. terran game."
It didn't look like a typical terran vs. terran game, but there's a theory. =/

| pretty good br though, i think it coulda been a better game, games where someone doesn't attack and then pays for it by getting stomped suck, but then again, i guess it woulda sucked if brown killed him and orange had a ton of money he hadn't spent, either way it went, not so good of outcome in my opinion, i like it when nobody makes big mistakes, just real small ones that are really capitalized on by the enemy |

| it took me 4 months to write a report, and it takes you it seems, a day. You rated reports, and wrote this? And this is one of the longest, must cumbersome reports that i've downloaded on my dsl. Too many giant pics. But the style is always the style that i like reading your reports by. I like a report where i can follow a game both by the pictures and the text. But there's a line between too many pictures, and enough pictures to follow the game. Good report though. 9. You're sorta like breeze, with the pics and the text. I continue to slave over my br. I'm striking unneccessary text, this is too long for comfort. |

Good. This didn't need to turn into a rating controversy.
It is incredibly difficult to sustain 9.x rated reports, and impossible to sustain 10's. WilliamWC3 was as close to perfection as a battlereporter is ever going to get.
Through the amount of material, I thought this deserved a 9. But I could see how someone would give this an 8.
|]agomar is striving for perfect 10's, so I can understand why he was upset by cryptic comment #20. He vented in ~nh, which was unprofessional, but he, as seen in comment #50, let it go. (my last message read 'but he will let it go.')
Could you let this go as well, Dref? This can't be the first time someone disliked the rating that you gave them, so why create a comment like #26 which can be read in intriguing ways? ("You don't deserve to be a rater because you can't see the flaws in your report through the bias.")

Actually, Erad, I think this whole comment section was necessary. Raters complaining about ratings was unprecedented, so the maturity and responsibility of the raters had to be established again.
Drefsab reminded us all that raters had to be the role models for other reporters. This shows that this website has a healthy pulse, despite what people like Melfuaru say.

Plus, as I later found out, the game ( Birth of the Federation ) sucks hardcore. I mean, it really really blows. But the second section of the br was another two paragraphs, that's it, and included a "cool" screenshot. I had it ready, but I only found out that the report was too long about a week after I released it.

Actually I regret apologizing now, all things considered. Ratings should be open for debate, even among raters, especially considering the circumstances at the time. Either way, nothing like some controversy for report comment sections, even if half of them are mine.
