I saw that replay a while ago; it was maybe the coolest z:t replay I've ever seen; I loved the way HOT just expanded like crazy in the beginning, then suddenly had the whole map. Then TheMarine started his clock-o-death, following the clock and in the end killing HOT completely.
I feel that you somewhat failed to catch the impressive buildup of HOT, and I didnt really get the 'feeling' for those big big battles, neither thru the text or thru the pictures.
Don't get me wrong here, I really enjoyed the report, it flowed very nice; the ss' could have displayed a bit more action, but other than that it's a very strong report.

Good report, just three gripes. Why was the marines color yellow in the report and purple in the pictures? Maybe im mixed up. Two, that big picture towards the end didnt come in for me and three I still dont know who won. Other than that your on your way to becoming a great reporter.

I know that i suck and i got a 6 on my first BR but it was very good. I liked all of the pics and comments. The comments were gosu. Good Job on the report and the only thing i have to gripe about is the replay. I dont like replays. Being in the game is much more fun.

Ok Long_Patrol, you do not suck for getting a 6 on your first report. My first 3 reports went 3,4,4. And you know what? Since then I've gotten 8 consecutive golds (ignoring that fanfic I did when I was drunk).
The 6 simply means that you have potential, but didn't use it all in the report.

BTW this is not even close to a 9, no offense. Think of it this way - a nine is just 1 short of a 10. So if anything is barely less than the top, then it should get a 9. This isn't barely less than the top - it's a good report, gold probably, but not great. |

| The game was good, but I found it hard to follow in this report. There was a lot of vague text, some geographical errors (the 3:00 HOT exp. is called a "6:00 exp" early on... unless there really was a 6:00 exp then, but if so, you didn't tell us; also, how does one drop the 9:00 exp. "from the west"?), and very little description of the battles. When you left the pictures to tell the story of a battle, they didn't do it. No way did this deserve a 9. Even an 8 is a real stretch. |

Hmm...you know what? We all know that BR.com's raters aren't the best. And do you know why? Perfect example: some guy copy and pastes a log of his chat on AOL. Nevermind that it couldn't in even the most abstract of ways be considered a battle report, it got gold rating just because some jack-asses found it funny. If I found an authentic picture of Britney Spears fucking the stick shift of a 1994 Chevy and posted it, it would get gold. (or at least 1000 comments) No, I strike that! If someone like Drefsab or King Lewis posted that, they'd get gold. I'd get flamed and called a lamer. (while the flamers are saving this to their HDs, anyway...)

Now me and any other sensible person left on this site knows that shit like that doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as some of the epic battle reports of the past. Real winners like GammaRayBurst and ~Cattlebruiser~ would roll over in their god damn graves if they knew their masterpieces had to share the same rating as some has-been resting on their laurels' posting their shopping list.
I think we all know that gold means nothing anymore. It should be a standard for the creme de la creme, the nearly unattainable, the esprit de corps, yadda yadda etc...
Mark4 and JV can still turn things around by dumping the current slate of raters and enstate new ones who will stick to the criteria. This is a site for battle reports. A really great concept is quickly turning to shit.
And oh yes, the other thing Mark can do is ban Ana from the site. I think we all can survive without his constant...constructive criticism.

One suggestion: put some kind of border on your pics. It makes them a lot more pleasant/easier to view. I'm not sure what image editing program you have been using, but you can do this really easily with Jasc PSP. Get a demo of it at www.jasc.com, it lasts for a couple months, should be OK. :)
