I liked the pictures, they added a sort of surreal quality to the words.
When you were describing his awakening on his 13th birthday, at first it sounded like you were talking about him learning to whack off. "Thinking about the girl....something awoke inside of him....power through his body...."

Very, very sweet Dag. However, I think the story kind of dropped near the end...descriptions were less, not the same kind of flair that the beginning held, etc. However, the end was still good, I'm just saying that the beginning was godly :-)

| Because seperate chapters of this length take all the effort of entire short stories. Refer to the Pheonix Legion installments by Praetor :P. However, I do understand where you're coming from, and I think it's hard to judge the worth of an entire story based on one chapter. |

Praetor's first installment of Phoenix was approx 3500 words. Your first chapter of was about 1700 words. My first chapter of Two Worlds was about 1500 words.
Praetor got rated for each of his and he is the only one to have that distinction that I'm aware of. It should remain that way. |

Well, you can look at Kane in the last couple months, or even myself back in the day, or Monty Pylon. An installment of this size does take more work than most short stories, especially with the pictures I drew ( ie. this was longer than Enrique ).
However, I will try and make them longer from now on. I will also continue to rate stories per chapter, except when the installments are especially short. Each to his own, I guess. |

| its one story, therefore it should get one rating no matter how long it is. Some of reports get hellaciously complex and only get one rating whether they took hours or weeks. People shouldn't be able to bloat their rookmarks by writing a few thousand words and splitting them up into 5 chapters or whatever. I have never done it, and I don't think anyone else should either. It artificially bloats rookmarks and/or lifetime averages etc. etc. |

I'll just raise a few other points though ;)
One reason I don't release say, 4000 words at a time is because people's attention spans are generally fairly short ( including my own ) and few people will want to sit back and read that many pages at a time.
Also, what if the entire, full story is too large to be posted in a single installment?

Finally, I still don't think it's artificial rookmark boosting, since, again, many of these installments are longer than short stories, and I can't see the difference in releasing 5 2000-word short stories and 5 chapters in a novella of equal length. In my opinion I don't think you can really compare stories to battlereports, since every chapter in a novella is really a story in and of itself, while a portion of a battlereport is akin to, say, a paragraph in a news article.
So I think that while I personally will make my installments far larger ( about as long as is possible per report, since I still can't use fileread ), I'll continue rating someone like Kane for every chapter :)

bah, i released an 8000 word story all at once in 4 back-to-back chapters and I think its safe to say from the 300+ comments that most everyone read it all the way through in one setting. I spent a couple of weeks writing that story and I got one rating for it (which is how it should be).
Its up to your personal discretion how much time you want to spend on a battlereport/story. Typically the one's that take a lot of time to put together get higher ratings, and thus a better rookmark. But to me it seems a bit absurd for someone to get 30-50 rookmark points for one story, no matter how much time is spent writing it. |

you're right on that one. if you wrote the whole thing out i would have scrolled down, realized how long it was and i wouldn't have read it. but since it nice and short and one of yours (generally i only read battlereports not stories here) i decided to give it a looksee and i'm glad i did. i'm also looking forward to the next chapters. i know theirs probably a few more like me who wouldn't have read a huge story from out of nowhere. |
