Wow.. damn nice report

Good to hear terrans is still kicking ass and taking names!

BTW heartcutter why would you rely only on com-sat for detection? You got 12, meaning only one com-sat early on. I just don't get it. =[

#2 Mark4[3240]
Please note, pictures are coming soon.
#3 Johnny_Vegas[3247]
Excellent report as always. Good screenshots. Impressive game by heartcutter! About as impressive as Mark4's terrans rolling over my toss with the tank push from hell.
#4 ralessi[3248]
Jeez mark4, you really suck, 650 points, im dissapointed =D
hehe

#5 ralessi[3249]
I was talking about the final score... if you didn't know =[
#6 Heartcutter[3250]
Comsat is the best tool a terran has (next to the marine). When I did finally tech up to a Sci Facility (I think this was about the time I secured my second expansion), he had lots of corsairs. I just didn't want to devote the micro required to protect SVs from them (I was Macro-boy at this point in the game as well).

I made him play my game. I didn't give his corsairs a target.

Let him eat ghosts instead.

BTW: 8 cloaked ghosts hunt high templar nicely.

#7 Johnny_Vegas[3253]
Yeah, even 4 cloaked ghosts do a fine job on templar. Lets face it though. Once you start using ghosts as attack units the game is pretty much over for him anyway. I think Vultures are great templar killers too. Dtemps also die well to vultures. Just wait until they start to carve into your buildings, scan the area and send the vultures in..
#8 Mind Twist[3254]
Mark4, now more than ever I agree with what you said in that awful 1v1, Heartcutter's terran is godly! Awesome report, and an awesome game. I like the non-use of sci vessels, that's not something most ppl would die (If i was fighting a toss w/ terran I would've had more sci vessels than I could count..)
#9 Mind Twist[3255]
err.. not something most ppl would do. hehe
#10 GhOsT~LiZarD[3256]
I wish my terran skillz were at the heartcutter level, HE OWNZ!! That BR rox too and mark stop pissing me off dude:)
#11 Johnny_Vegas[3257]
Heartcutter and I played a 2v2, where we were both terran vs two protoss. We were kicking some ass, until I got disc'ed. Both opponents were still alive, one I had weakened a little by turbo newbieing his expansion. Anyway, I got disc'ed and Heartcutter went on to beat BOTH protoss. Damn, that's impressive.. Oh wait, I did that one time as well. But I was lucky, cause I did a 7 firebat/1 medic nexus killing drop, taking one guy out, then I 1v1 against the other toss killing his carriers with wraith swarms.
#12 Heartcutter[3259]
I've gotta try a dedicated firebat drop one of these days...
#13 Johnny_Vegas[3260]
Dude the 7 firebat/1 medic is LETHAL. Obviously the shields on the nexus are gone in literally 3 seconds, then it takes about 8-10 seconds to finish off the remaining 750 hp.
What was funny was, he had a mass of dragoons at his choke which didn't get their clumsy asses up to stop me in time. Bahaha. The goons started beating on my bats, but it took them a long time to kill them, and the nexus died with 3-4 bats still alive. It was awesome.
#14 Johnny_Vegas[3261]
3 best ways to kill a nexus...

-EMP/Nuke

-7 Firebat/1 Medic drop

-EMP/Triple Yamato (I recently learned this on a long game on dire, where I killed this guy's nexus FIVE times. He had templar all over and arbiters with stasis, so this was a really fast way to take the nexus out and retreat.

#15 Heartcutter[3262]
So I take it you stim the bats, target the nexus, then forget about em? Or do you choose not to stim, letting them keep their extra HP?
#16 Heartcutter[3263]
So I take it you stim the bats, target the nexus, then forget about em? Or do you choose not to stim, letting them keep their extra HP?
#17 Mark4[3264]
Stim. That's why you brought the medic.
#18 Johnny_Vegas[3265]
Stim of course.. 7 stimmed bats on a nexus do the dmg of 14 bats. 7 bats do 16x7=112 dmg in one volley. So in 7 volleys the shields are gone. Stimmed bats get 7 volleys off real fast, thus killing the shields. Also their might be some bug in the firebat's splash allowing the firebat to occasionally to hit the nexus 2 times with one hit.
The medic is just there so the bats can continually stim.
#19 Johnny_Vegas[3266]
One other point.. Dragoons take forever to kill bats if a medic is healing them. Also, If you don't kill the nexus the first time, and say got it down to 150HP or something before dieing, Kamikaze the sucker with another drop! One time, I did the 7 bat/1 medic drop, leaving it at 235 hp or something. He thought I was finished with my drop, until 30 seconds later I came back on a suicide drop stimming, and targetting only the nexus with some marines and medics.
#20 JSH[3267]
Rockin' report Mark. This Heartcutter dude is impressive. I'd like to see him in the BW ladder tournament, as Terran, of course.

By the way, does anyone know when the ladder is going to be globally reset for the new season?

#21 Johnny_Vegas[3268]
Dang it, I have to say ONE FINAL THING. If you drop the firebats, and the peons don't run away to safety at the sight of you, kill the peons first! Only go for the nexus if it looks like you can pull it off in time. Just don't waste your time chasing down the peons leading your bats into their cannoned up choke. If chasing the peons is a hassle, switch to the nexus. Most people are surprised when their nexus drops like that.
#22 WHoop[3269]
hey Johnny I read about how Bats do more damage is some cases....this was from Bill Roper himself.....something about arc damage? Any ideas?

BTW GG and Good BR
#23 HolyAnarchy{GK}[3272]
Ummm...he thinks he wins when he hits 3/3? I would say that vs zerg only, maybe terran. Protoss simply storm the shit out of the infantry and then use reavers to back them. Hehe, reminds me of a modem game with my buddie. Mass marines, so I went reavers. They crawled to his base and took out, roughly, 24 marines, give or take a few. =).
#24 Johnny_Vegas[3274]
Yeah, Whoop, I heard that from somewhere too. Firebats do some kind of strange dmg. Here is a theory I should test. If the firebats splash crosses over different "damage zones" of a building it may hit twice. Not sure though.
#25 Heartcutter[3282]
Well, when I have 3/3 marines, I also have 3/3 ghosts. And LOTS of marines. If 2 reavers take down 8 marines, I lockdown 2 reavers. Then I snipe the templar. Works out well, no?
#26 Blade101[3284]
I dunno about you being a racist, and i really dont care. All i know is that i really enjoyed reading that report :)
#27 Blade101[3285]
Pressed the back button 2 many times, ment to write that on GhoSt~lizard's report :(

#30 GunsandZealots[3346]
No imbalance here, good micro and 3/3 marines kill the toss. Good BR Mark.
#31 Omnipresent[3379]
Heart you are now my hero ;). I need to watch you sometime and see how you deal with storm in a game. That spell always eats me and usually they have observers to hit my ghosts. Is not getting sci vessels usually a good idea though? hmmmmmm I always thought u'd need them to kill those bastard templar.
#32 Johnny_Vegas[3382]
I want to see Mark4 vs Heartcutter on a land map like Lost temple. That would be a good game. Mark already beat Heartcutter on Dire straits, but that's Mark's favorite map, so I'd like to see something like LT or Rivarly.
#33 .Praetor[3385]
Why's everyone so hot on Sci Vessels these days? And this is coming from a guy who wrote a report where his only major weapon was Sci Vessels. I never need more than four against a toss. You only need to emp-irradiate so much. Same with Terran, though I could use dmatrix more. I only build tons of Sci vessels vs Zerg. You know I can remember the days when Sci Vessels were 25300, and we all played Vanilla, and it seemed NO ONE built them but me. Isn't it interesting how the game evolves?

#34 Heartcutter[3388]
A couple of answers...
Yes, I stim my marines.

Dealing with storm is all about having bunkers and tank support. If you have the correct defensive setup, you'll do just fine. I also keep a close watch on any large groups I have in the open. If they absolutely have to be there, I'll have them behind tank cover.

Getting sci vessels is usually a good idea. But the quantity of corsairs made it a bad choice to build any.

Killing bastard templar is sometimes a matter of moving around, back forth. Do a little dance, etc. Sometimes I send in a single stimmed marine to gun down a templar. Minimize the damage.

As for reinforcing my second expansion that game, I wasn't actually trying to do that with the column of 12 marines/meds and tanks. I was going to swat the expansion at 6:00. But a DT intervened and I didn't have enough energy for comsat. So I ran to my expansion instead. The cool point tho, was using stim on my marines when the DT was following. 'Double time it, soldier! Move it! Move it!'. Probably saved 2-3 of them from getting whacked.

FYI: A toss player has to kill 5 marines with a DT to break even cost-wise. So if you lose a couple to DT, but still manage to kill it, you're doing fine. Same with templar. You've gotta hit at least 5 to break even.

Do you see where I'm going with this? Playing terran is an endurance game. Your troops WILL die. Accept it. Get in the habit of just having a bunch of them around and always continually produce units. Marines are such a no-brainer that it makes no sense not to quit building them. Sooner or later they'll come in handy.

And be aggressive. Don't be a turtle.
#35 Johnny_Vegas[3391]
Yes, marines are the wonder unit. Often times I find myself in a jam late game, wondering how I am going to kill of my Protoss or Zerg opponent. Tanks are just too slow sometimes, and BC's too expensive. So I throw down like 8 RAX in the middle of the map and start producing marines with all those damn excess minerals I forgot to spend. *Sound of lawn mower* And then its over. It's like the opponent doesnt expect you to stop your teching ways and switch back to a mass infantry assault force that runs over their fancy dark archons, corsairs, scouts and assorted other tech units.
#36 GhOsT~LiZarD[3436]
Heartcutter would own mark on land, not ment to insult anyone just a fact:)
#37 Mark4[3440]
I saw his game. I think I know how to solve the tactic set he used in that game. Strike was not a bad player but he lacked a purity of execution that seriously hindered him. Heart might take me on land, but it remains to be proven.
#38 GoofBall[3452]
I have to post here just so this report will get more comments than that racial one. Ummm.... Good report.
#39 Gorag[3569]
Maynard Transfer? What's that?
#40 Mark4[3575]
Overproducing workers at your main, then when you make an expansion transferring half your workers there to take advantage of the increased mining efficiency.
#41 Heartcutter[3646]
Ok, I throw down the gauntlet...

Me vs. Mark4

Best of 5 series
Map 1: Rivalry
Map 2: Dire
Map 3: Temple
Map 4: Mausoleum
Map 5: Killing Fields

We play all 5 games. Any races. Somebody observes and writes the BRs.

What do you say?
#42 Johnny_Vegas[3663]
I will observe and write the battle reports. But wait until next week.. Or just do it this weekend and have someone else write the battle report. My family is visiting this weeekend.
#43 $gt.Zorn[4137]
Very impressive game Heartcutter. I think we copy off each other without knowing it.
I too put my core buildings close to the Comm Center and continously produce Marines.
My goal in a game is to be as close to 0 minerals as possible, except if I need 400 for an expansion, or an upgrade or something. Ghosts=Protoss Death. Lockdown is like God in a Rifle. (:
I have one question, was that Wraith for patroling the islands or for drop protection? In either case, it was a good idea. Later,

Exper analysis:
game1 on Rivalry:Hertcutter, that map blows for toss goons get stuck on those bridges all the time and mass infantry ownz that.
Game2 on Dire: Mark4 just cuz his dire game rox too much:)
Game3 on Temple: Heatctutter, his ground is really strong.
Game4 on Mausoleum: I'd say heartcutter but a VERY close game.
Game5 on Killing Fields: Mark cuz terran sux on large maps.
