Polished and involving. Almost makes me want to download the demo. I'd give this an 8.0 - 8.5, because any higher and you'd have nowhere to improve to once you get into more skillful games.
(Translation: You must write more reports to get high ratings :D )

I am genuinely excited about playing this game. It presents a huge challenge in battlereporting, though.
There are many more important upgrades in AoM than in StarCraft, upgrades which I sorta... glossed over in this report. I'll have to brainstorm on how to improve the presentation so that I can feed the upgrade information to the reader in a non-intrusive way. (and the resource collection information as well)

Very good, 9 quality I'd say. The only thing that bothered me was that all your opponent had to do was mass slingers to win, although I didn't read anything on the site you linked, and I have no real idea how much exactly the god powers contributed to how the game worked out...
Either way, I look forward to reading more of these. You presented enough information for the game to be understood, and did it in a way that did not make the game boring. And I especially liked the alt text for the picture of starting postitions, it captures your humor very nicely. |

Very Good Report, i played the alpha, I loved your pics bad thing is that i am living in europe and AoM isnt relased yet. :(
I like the counter idea in this game every unit is countered by two others:
agianst Slingers are good Huskarls (Inf)countered by Axeman,Raiding Cav(Cav) countered by Camels, Spearman.
Another thing which is good for the diversity are the amazing godpowers : but you can show them all in battle report, so make more of it.
A more desperate and funnier move would have been Baldr transform all your villagers in Heros. :)
Make sure to include Baldr and Toth in the next report their godpowers are the best.

Well, I liked the other AoE games, except for the whole speed thing, and I think I'll get myself a copy of this as well. Trouble is, I've always like the campaigns more, maybe because I like the story telling part of them.
Anyway, it seemed like a very good description of the game, and you have my respect for trying to explain an entire game on a "few" paragraphs. I Like the "God" parts btw :o

I respect your stance, Redemption. Heck, I'll be the first to admit that Age of Kings was a depressingly boring game to play, possibly making everyone predisposed to dislike Age of Mythology.
But I gave both Warcraft 3 and Age of Mythology a chance, and I am far more satisfied with the gameplay of AoM. It's the new macromanagement-based RTS that I enjoy playing. I guess we'll just have to have differing opinions on which game is more enjoyable.
I will never write a Warcraft 3 report.

| I think the reason that Age of ____ was less successful than Starcraft is because the story and campaigns are less moving and cinematic. Um I like the god power idea thing, I think the best thing about that company called "Westwood" is that they have superweapons and stuff, this sounds like that. This was the first report I've read in awhile (after CB's that is :P). Anyway, I thought it was pretty damn good. I've never played the game, and I never played any of the other ones, yet I could follow what was going on pretty well.
When I looked at the pictures, I eventually figured out what the slingers were, just because there were so many of them. I didn't really look at pictures to much (except to read alt-text). I just glanced at them to give an idea of what the forces looked like for each side. I think it was written pretty well and I'm looking forward to seeing more of these. |
