Ok first off. Text was a nice format, but way too small. Then you would say some crazy stuff like "Then First48Hours would escort his Drone with his 2 dragoons to the 12 o'clock"

Specially if you have 3 heroes,thank god for hotkeys,that and microwing your other units with there spells,almost every unit has some "spell" to micro,unlike SC,zealots...they can fight....highlight 12 to attack move...@_@... footmen...hrmm should I turn defend on now or then,meanwhile I have my AM make a water ele,and my MK constantly stormbolting and claping and my Paladin Healing footies...

Good report in general, sometimes I found your steps a bit too large, or maybe the players did it, a first assault of 7+ tanks is a bit weird, as usually more will happen earlier. Snowsquall is right with the rating though, 8 is ok.

That Blizzard provides better unit control options in wc3 than in sc can hardly be seen as making the game more simple, but it's an improvement. So this "micro" you are talking about in this context is due to some programming which isn't logical (why would anyone want 12 ghosts to lockdown 1 carrier?), having just one unit cast it the more intuitive and also more logical way to have it, so in this point there is less unnecessary micro required - which is generally good.
The advantage starcraft still has over wc3 is the balance problem. As pointed out clearly by Tillerman (www.theinclan.com, news from 25.11.02), single items can turn around a whole game. Same applies for random damage, in general, there are way more random variables in warcraft3 than in starcraft - so if you look for competition on an equal level, starcraft is the better vehicle. Does that make it a better game? |

Does that make it a better game? I doubt it. Is there more "skill" involved in winning a sc match than a wc3 match? I doubt it as well, as you also have to consider many variables (could the opponent catch me when I creep location xy), counters are not as clear as in starcraft so you have to do hard work to get them going (in bw, lurkers counter infantry. in wc3, dryads and a KoTG DO NOT counter footmen with defend if you do not micro them; if you dance them however, you win).
There are different aspects of skill required to play sc and wc3 which are scarcely comparable. The only thing you can say about sc is, that it's more likely that you will win solely based on skill - but that does not classify the game in any way but rather is a competitive aspect.

starcraft is good for tournament play, because its like 99% skill in that game to decide who wins. In warcraft 3 its more like 50%.
So if u want exciting competitive tournament play, play sc.
If u want soome game u can play every once in awhile even though its not nearly balanced and never will be in the way that its made, play wc3.
Wacraft3 isnt trash, though. I play both, but Starcraft is alot better than wc3. |

Just for the record: When the Warcraft series started, there was no Diablo in sight and Starcraft came out even later. When Starcraft was announced, the fears were "oh no, please no warcraft in space".
Warcraft took some steps in the right direction considering: Graphics, Unit Control, Opponent AI, Unit AI (To some degree) and it continued the warcraft setting which was overdue for fans of the series. That justifies a new game and is an advancement from starcraft.

...I still like Warcraft 2, but never wanted to play it after Starcraft came out because it was such a huge improvement.
Warcraft 3 has taken RTS to a new level. I mean look at Blizzzard compared to Westwood. Westwood has been making Dune with better graphics again and again since the late 80s.
Blizzard just keeps evolving their games, diversifying the races and adding new dimensions to the gameplay.
Starcraft is a great game, but it came out in 1997. WC3 is the next game. Imagine what SC2 will be like.

Am I the only one sick of hearing this argument? TIME, while I belive that SC is a better game than War3 (although war3 is more enjoyable to play with allies because of improvements, like resource trading and "pinging") I'm sick of watching people fill up comment sections with gay SC vs. War3 talk. Frankly, its a waste of time and energy that could be used elsewhere. It's all a matter of opinion, not like if SC were compared, to say, AOE, because that would be somewhat possible. There's no definite reason that makes SC > War3 or War3 > SC.

Ok. I personally think this report was not very good. Mainly because you provided no details on what was happenning in the bases, who was teching to what, and who was expanding where. Also, you shittin' said shit to shittin' much.
As for those who say late game infantry is stupid, it depends. If you have over a k of minerals and hardly no gas, it's a good idea to build a few Racks and get the oponent off guard, especialy if you getchoself some meds in there. This really works when the ennemy army consists mainly of goons. Anyhow, nice pix, dunno bout game (no details), decent writing=7.5?

| The main difference I see between SC and WC is that SC takes place in the future, and that WC takes place back in Medievil Time. Also the units and buildings are different of course. No offense but I dont see why everyone has to fight about it. |
