And here is yet another fix..its been one of those days. delete the last two plz..thx

If you found that my report had a whole bunch of odd looking characters, try downloading this font-http://duero.lab.fi.uva.es/~serggar/ajedrez/Clases/DiaTTHab.ttf and make sure to put it in your c:Windowsfont folder
If you find it still does not work, then I am truly sorry. For those of you who it doesnt work for please list what operating system you have, in particular if you have Windows2000,
or WindowsNT.

ugh, triple post? please use fileread, that's exactly the reason it's there for.

and are all those long long things of letter/numbers supposed to be chess moves? something about them just looks awkward. woulda been nice to see a picture once and awhile of a chess board and what was going on for those of us who dont know how to read moves :/

You nonces, those groups of weird text ARE the pictures, theyre just in the font you have to download....goddammit, people are slow....

Even so, you messed up with the lining up of the pieces, so none of the boards are actually right, about 60% of the time you can tell whats goin on, but it takes thought, and you cant always....plus chess just aint very interesting if you dont know what a 'sicilyan' defense is or whatever.....its a very 'in' report :p Id say about 7/10 personally....if you were smart enough to actually download the font (unlike a few less intelligent people above me)...

Tom

Yeah, it's our fault for not downloading the font he poste-... oh wait, there IS no download available. So I guess it's out fault for not trudging through the endless wasteland called cyberspace to get this magical font of mystery called... oh wait, no one ever said what it was. Ok, now it must be out fault for not telepathically prying the name of this superfont from the alleged mind of this guy so we can see the pictures and upon that we'd finally be able to see this grand work of art... oh wait, this is just the worst report I've ever seen in the history of forever. stfu and die.

Not gonna flame anything, first of all.

I had an unneccessary amount of difficultly deciphering your font, but I'm not going to worry about that because you told me not to.

On a semi-related note, it may have been your preference, but there was yet another option you could have taken to avoid overwhelming the report with pictures, which could have illustrated your point graphically *without* any deciphering done on the reader's part. It is a program called Chessbase Light. Some chess players may have heard of it, I know for a fact it was endorsed by some chess players on this very site when a chess tournament came through some time ago, which means I am not sure it exists.

The upshot of all this is that all you have to do with this program is to input the game history of moves (ie e2-e4 and all that) and the program does the rest, allowing you to "fast-foward" through the history to see the board layout at whatever move you wish.

The reason I suggest it now is because you can simply display a number of the move you want to talk about with your comment following it, and the reader (who has the program loaded), can just alt-tab out and foward to the move in question.

To me, only a casual chess player yet someone who would like very much to see a chess battlereport, this seems in my opinion to be something that is not unreasonable.

K heres the first part of my comment since its too big for 1 comment :O.

First of all I think it was a pretty good game played in the Najdorf. The Be3 variation however is a fairly weak one against the Najdorf. It is similar to the Yugoslav attack with the Dragon but the key difference in the Najdorf is that the pawn is not on g6, making it tough for white to attack. Key thing to remember as black is to push h7-h6 when Qd2 is played. This prevents counterplay from the bishop and the queen battery. Another thing: you'd have to be almost legally retarded to play Rxc3 as black did. The whole point of this move is to generate counterplay against the white king. Does black EVER attack the white king after this move? No, so why did he sac the exchange? Yes, he shattered whites pawns so that it was 3 pawn islands against 4 isolanis, but this isnt justification for the material that he put into it.

Another sign of black's weakness was playing e5 too soon. If instead he plays e6 then he hasnt committed himself to a solid pawn structure yet. White can easily play f4 and make e5 look really stupid. So instead of playing f3 you should have capitalized on his mistake and played f4!. If he takes your pawn here then your bishop takes back. Now I see an isolated, backwards, weak pawn on d6 that should be easy to take care of. If black doesn't take your f4 pawn then just push past and create a pawn storm. Another thing I noticed about black's play was that he in the beginning traded off his good bishop for you bad one. This is something you do in the Be2 line but not in the Be3 line. The key difference is that there is no pawn on f5, so the e4 pawn is supported. As soon as he trades off his bishop he is supposed to attack your e4 pawn. Guess he can't do that with your f3 pawn cementing it down.

and Awe6, if you want to get better at chess dont download cblight, get 8.0. cblight is a database for youre games, but 8.0 gives you a bazillion GM games. but if you just want a database with fritz, get cblight :)

People should read the authors first comment before commenting themselves on the weird symbols. :-(
Still, like someone pointed out, they don't align properly.
I think you shoulda gone with low quality jpegs maybe.

not a bad report. I know I would have gotten more out of it if I had the ability to play blindfolded, but still... not bad!

I wish people would at least tell me what they have. I can't do anything if I don't what you guys at least have. Clearly it worked for some people. It works on my computer. If you have Windows Millenium edition, IE6 and 1024 res then I figure you have a good chance of seeing it. If anyone has all this stuff and doesnt work please say so. Also if you have something different and it looks like it works say so. So far it seems to not work at all for some people, (or I am misinterpreting peoples usual ability to overexagerate) Work a little yet the pieces seem aligned and work. As I said I did this the way I did, without jpgs for good reason...thats a lot of fucking jpgs. Im more concerned with working this font out than trying to do something else...please not be an asshole and try to help me help you. thx
