Dangit, Decay, this is great.
8 for the first game.
9 for the second.
A 10 for the report, because it had two different games, of two different types, and still rocked hard. |

| It was a damn god read. Bit short tah first part though. Oh, it's part of a series? Then it's ok. I'd rate this a 0, so with the 1 you already have, it's the 10 I feel it deserves (did that come out right?) |

Heh, Exile!
Man those graphics are worse than Civ1. Couldn't make out any of the units before you made a huge white line saying "GOBLIN FIGHTER". That helped :o
Having said that, the exile part was good, but not blindingly amazing. SC game was probably ruined for me because I knew I played like crap :D
The exile part had its highlights, and using well known people as characters actually made it feel like it was real people - and not just some crappy character. Very interesting little trick. Oh and the character image was hilarious.

Wow this was truly awesome. Simply fantastic writing, especially on the exile part, you really kept me reading - and that's saying something, since the graphic quality of the game looked just a notch above Commodore 64 standards.
Images were meh, but the writing more than made up for that. And damn you for insinuating that I'm gay ;D.

Exile: Greatest Game Series Ever!
And I say that with all honesty. The first three games are absolutely marvelous, and the foruth one aint all that bad either. It did start to suck once they got away from their 2d roots (sure the graphics are poor, but theyre still awesome!) and started doing 3d versions :(
Oh, and heres a good tip if youre gonna start again. Dont bother with seperate mages and priests, combine them together in a general spellcaster class. Initially give at least three fo your guys lvl3 in each Mage and Priest spells. Sure you wont get many points to put into spell points, but each level of magic actually gives you a bonus to SP so you dont notice it anyway :D

Heh, read the Exile report...didn't read the SC one yet. Man...that was great. A couple of points...
"I chose Tristian the Rabbi (Lithium) to be my priest, which is rather ironic..."
I don't think irony is the correct word to use...maybe just "funny." After calling him the Rabbi, it made sense for him to be the priest...Also, a single typo that I remember, something like "after he enemy forces blah blah killed died blah." Nothing major though. The writing was excellent...the pics I think would have been better if you'd done something more with them (like added some speech bubble dialogue) as the game's graphics kinda didn't help. I didn't actually realize the Nephilim were cat people until you started talking about them being cat people ^_^
Anyway, all in all an excellent report...8 |

| That is not considering the second one...I have yet to read that ;o |
| #24 Decay[151949] |

DD - the irony is because of the fact that Priests are Catholic, and Rabbis are Jewish. The two are completely different faiths. The speech bubble idea I like, I think I will use that next time. :D
Tom - theres a 3D version? I haven't played the 3rd or 4th ones yet, since I didn't know there was more than one until a couple weeks ago.
Dag - I'm glad the writing was up to par, since I knew the images certainly wouldn't be. ;)
Ling - I had the whole thing written out in a boring format where it was 'Then I told matt to kill this, and I had Lucky cast this', but it sucked. So I took and rewrote it like I would have if it were a real mmorpg or something, with each character being their own person. The result was much more appealing.

Decay: Yeah, theres a bunch of versions. Third is definately the best (its just massive), and the fourth one isnt one single storyline, you jsut create a party and play short campaigns made by other people/fans/etc.
The newer ones are 3d isometric.... same gameplay, just with elevations :o but the 3d sprites change the look from 'cute minimalist' to 'crap'.
I might have to check their website to see if anythings been done in recently, as I havent had a look in years.

Ok. Early comment before reading the report. In the beginning, your introduction would have flowed perfectly into the text of the report. If you hadn't added that last sentence. Read it again without that sentence when you haven't looked at the report for a day or two.
".... and hopefully I will be able to convey the fun of this nearly ancient game to you. "
*begin main text*
How could you NOT go with that? |
| #44 .Praetor[152019] |
| c-67-172-163-127.client.comcast.net |
Also delete: "And now for the start of the actual report!"
Unless you were trying to be funny and break up the flow of the text, in which case it kind of worked. |
| #45 .Praetor[152020] |
| c-67-172-163-127.client.comcast.net |
I really enjoyed your report, especially the Exile part. The SC part was good, but you were right about it not being stand-alone.
"There was even a skull on a stick waiting for us. How quaint."
That made me laugh out loud.
Also, writers pay attnetion. This is a good example of alt text use. (Shaky towards the end, but pay attention to exile section.) Alt text is a fantastic way to insert snide comments that are funny but would otherwise break up your report. People who put alt-text type stuff in the body of their report ususaly get decpreciating comments about childish humor and flow... turn a weakness into a strentgh :). |
| #46 maareek[152026] |
| mblt-aa066.gtcom.net |
alt-text eh? what a nice idea. I think I'll start using it.
I was wondering how long it would take you to post the ling/all-fear report after you screwed up and pre-posted it earlier (thought everybody forgot didn't ya ;).)
As for the report, I enjoyed it, the exile part was pretty interesting even though I never played it. And the sc portion was good...except that it involved ling :P
All in all, a high 8. |
| #47 maareek[152027] |
| mblt-aa066.gtcom.net |
And I would also like to say that this pretty much ruined my idea of doing a poker/sc report. Why? I have no idea but you get a comment out of the deal anyway.
