Great read; your descriptions on everything from In_Flame's stupidity to the dogfight with the Eagle was amazing. Even the pictures this time were much easier to follow considering I've never played the game before, and the chat selections had me smiling- the "OPEN FIRE SOLDIER, GOGOOO" a prime example. I'm sad to see the series over.

I went to a BR report trough google, it was by... EldritchEvil if i'm not mistaking. Well that was funny and after that I found out he made around 8 more :P, those were less funny because he grew up ALOT more, like not talking l!5k i t0lk n0!!!
eh anway, I read trough those and went back playing EV Nova again cause I understood much more.

Ok I finally finished this behemoth!
First the Good:
- Introduced many (including me) to a new game
- Loved the "side notes" in gray text which talk about the game, such as the ship talk
- Enjoyed the many nice pics (and very nice opening gfx)
- Liked the humor
- Was amazed at how you remembered the game events, did you take notes?
Now the (why I'm not giving it a 10):
- There wasn't much discussion about strategy, which is what I like most of all.
-It was a long record of your accounts at playing the game, which is great, but didn't really draw me in, as there wasn't much suspense to your journeys, or other elements that make a good short story hold your attention (Granted it wasn't supposed to be a short story, but some reports work this way).
- Even with the 2 above "downfalls" your last chance to score a 10 would have been something added to the report that had never been done before, or that just plain kicked ass technologically (Examples included: Choose your own adventure report, or CattleBruiser's Java applet report, or perhaps an amazing Flash applet) |

I didn't take notes, just have a decent memory when it comes to stuff like this. I think the overall drive of all three brs was our attempt to become powerful pirates, which is where the storyline headed this time as well. Since it's multiplayer Freelancer, there aren't any official storylines, which is a bummer. Also, the strategy in the game is rather limited - I discussed it in the respective dogfights and conflicts, but it's certainly no StarCraft by any means - just a negative when reporting this gametype! |

Yeah its a tough game to report on. Still its always fun to read reports on different games. I wonder if WoW will be a good reporting game, quite a few people around here seem to be anticipate it. I doubt I'll get it, as my life will be gone, I tried EQ on and off way back when it was first released and decided MMORPG take way too much time.
I downloaded this new game called "Hamster Ball" which my 4 yr old son loves, thought for a second about a BR, then realized that a report on a game that just involves rolling a hamster down a hill might be a toughie.

| Great report Dag. You have a very clear style of writing, so I I could follow the action while not knowing the game (the grey game explanations did help there too though). I just hope this coproduction with Matt will not be as long as the game itself, just skip through the large periods of inaction Epoch and I as observers had to endure. In general the feeling I was left with (except for utter amazement and tired eyes) was that "what actually happended"?
For example, the EVN brs - campaigns, looting, wooting and much. In here it felt like there weren't any longtime perspective - except for getting new ships, which brings me to my next complaint:
ESPECIALLY the last ship, felt like "YES, THE SHIP. OH MY EFFING GEE THIS OWNS. LEVEL TEN WEAPONS! YES!!!$$$"
And then the report stopped.
I'm not sure if I'm getting my point across at all, but it felt like very little was actually happening (except for some hilarious standalone moments). I know this is a disgrace to the people actually playing it - but this is what came across to me.

Almost every ship in the third installment is just one of the older ships with stuff added on. The hammerhead was the Piranha[sic], the Sabre was the Dagger. Another reason for me to dislike that game.
You should have written that I died or something, and you had to avenge my death. Would have added drama to the whole thing ;)

Well, LuckyNewbie, there are modders making new ships all the time, but it will be hard to find a server with a good mod, and especially a populated one.
And yeah, I feel for you when you hit the end Dagomar.. I did that too. Ooh.. I'm king of the hill, and there is nothing that can stop me.

It took me 3 sittings to finish reading this, but it was definitely worth the time. Great writing and a fun game. Pictures were not all that, but then Freelancer does not make for great screen shots. Still, the pictures did add to the overall feel of the report and I enjoyed the images of ships. Great report all in all.

Great report. Spent a good span of time appreciating your funny dialogues and chuckling here and then.
I find some things need be corrected though:
You cannot equip 4 class 10 code weapons and a nomad at the same time, the turret is a salamanca class 9 (not sablanca class 10) and you get the Eagle at Freeport 9 not Malta. Unless of course you played a mod, but I didn't read about that.
Nevertheless, thank you very much for putting your time into this nice report!!
