Wow man, your writing is great. The only thing that could have helped would have been pics.
#2 Mind Twist, Official UnOfficial Rater[4372]
Excellent! Malt liqour is a wonderful thing, we all agree. I had no idea the zerg had their taste for alcohol, but now I am wise to their ways. Defeating a protoss player that goes mass carriers get's points in my book, and you did it twice. Excellent. Not rushing on BB? Naughty you!

BR.com's OUOR rating: 8

Thanks guys! Well, Monty, the game was sorta tense, and I didnt' think I was going to write a BR in the first place because it was just a pubbie ;D. That's why there are no pics in there. I woulda loved to have put some in there. Next time I will for sure.

The case of 3 way ffa poses an interesting problem, esp on blood bath:
The question is, what is the best strategy among 3 players, A, B, and C:
Assume that all three are equally skilled, and that in an attack, the attacker will win.
Also assume that all players are good enough to have forces at all times, and that all players have a rough idea of who is fighting whom.

Now let's say A attacks B. A wins since he was the attacker. , knowing of this, immediately attacks the weakened A, and takes away the game.

So what can a player do? He can build strength instead of attacking: go for the lone expansion, and hope the other two players fight. Let's say player A opts for this strategy. Player B, being of a like mind, also tried this. A and B fight over the expansion, and C wins by attacking the victor.

So is sitting tight the best strategy? No, because let's say A and B decide to sit tight and wait for someone else to fight. C decides to go for the expansion. Then C is (presumably) twice as strong as A or B, and will win.

in 4 way, two players can just fight their neighbor, so it's ok. But 3 way ffa poses an interesting strategic problem.

Think of it this way: You are in a tourney on blood bath for 1,000 dollars. 3 player ffa, no alliances, and no communication. Assume your opponents are as skilled as you, and you all have the same race. What is your strategy? Attack, sit tight, go for the expansion, or what?

Depends on the map.

If there's only one expansion, I'd take it, and depending on my race, I'd defend it with varying amounts of stuff. (Terrans can hold it down, Zerg have real trouble sometimes) I'd also get ready to get attacked a lot, but not too much- if people are like you say, each one of them will be waiting for the other to attack me.

Or I'd just try to kill the better player with a drop or something (drops are unexpected in FFAs) and then fight it out with the other guy :)

Nice BR wyrm what an honorable fellow indeed:)
#8 Badguy(tm)[4418]
Dave! How could you forget the dark swarm? You know what it does to a hydra vs carrier fight, don't you? :)
#9 Dr.Wyrm[4463]
Thanks for the critique guys and comments!

To AnalBanana: I would sit tight if I were Protoss or Zerg, trying to gaffle up expansions guarding them with great care until I was called on to fight some opposition. I would tech to spell casters and use them to fend off drops and land attacks.

To BadGuy(tm): Of course I know silly, but I already had him outupdraded and had his carriers plagued twice. Instead of consuming hydras and casting a dark swarm, I choose to micro the hydras to kill the carriers. However, if he wasn't going to try to take me in the open field I would have cast dark swarm all over my hydras, forcing him to the middle of my base.

Thanks for trying to catch me though ;D

Excellent story. Only 1 question. At the end whne u offered to quit to give him the win, why not just ally and u both get the win.
