1st?
Nice report for a first time. Fairly good description of what was going on, but your sentences got confusing at times... not "I can't tell what's going on" confusing, but "wait, how does that sentence work?" confusing. All in all, pretty good job. 7. |

Good report for a first time, but a spellchecker/proofreading would have helped a lot. I'd also have liked it more had you put the explanations off to the side, as the way they were organized disrupted the flow of the story. The game was a bit short (3 turns? Is this normal for warhammer?), but overall the report was enjoyable.

I liked it. Try to get somebody else to proofread before you post because sometimes after reading a text for so long you don't realize you keep missiong mispelled words. Happens to me all the time plus if they are skilled in the ways of grammer they can fix those kind of mistakes too. =)

Oh, well usually I get sentences mixed up, I should definitely have used a spellchecker. Anyways, responding to you, Confider, games of Warhammer 40k last for six turns. This game would have, too, except that a) My opponent had to leave for someplace b) Warhammer 40k games don't last as long when one player makes large tactical errors against a fast, vicious army, the Tyranids. My army was ready to chew him up. Actually, that was a pretty fast game. It took an hour. Usually, they take two and a half hours. And the next game I post will be six turns.
See you later, next time as the Dark Eldar. |

Hmmm, pictures in the next one might help. Though your explanations were fairly helpful, I had problems visualising what was going on because I've never seen WH on tabletop.
If you need help with pictures/layout/whatnot, I suggest you browse the guides or post in the forum. It'd be nice to get some reports of rarer games out there. |

My big complaint was length. Especially a game that not everyone follows from the start...I was getting into it and then the game suddenly is in your favor, and then you win. I'm not sure what I should tell you to add though. You did a pretty good job explaining the facets of the game, the combat was a little scant but only really short on flavor text type stuff, maybe a little description. I could follow, definitley. Perhaps it's just because it was a short game, as you said.
Definitley read the guides, especially the html and CSS stuff. A lot of the information could have been presented in infoboxes or something, so as not to disrupt the flow of the report to someone who knew the ins and outs of warhammer 40k. A balance between presenting information for those who know almost nothing about the game and maintaining the flow of the report is pretty important in games that aren't too well known. Formatting is great with this, since you can put stuff in sidebars or whatever that isn't directly part of the report but you want people to be able to access if they need to.
Your writing was pretty solid for your first report, although there *is* room for improvement. If you think you've written everything that happened, add some flavor text. Praetor's D&D report I think is a pretty good example of how to communicate the sort of environment that I get the feeling is there in warhammer too (that is, playing a game in the same room as people, as opposed to computer games). Pics, especially where you're doing tactical maneuvers, attacking, are good. But DON'T take random pictures of the field when there's nothing going on. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but a pointless pic is a thousand pointless words. If it helps you convey the action, then include it. If you can do it with just words, do it with just words.
Everyone's said proofreading, so I'll just say it to make it official or something: get a proofreader for an extra point!
6, with hopes it gets rated up. If we had tenths I'd rate it a 6.7 but it's not quite gold yet. |

| I liked this, and it's times when I read a 40K BR that make me wish I wasn't so lazy and would get around to assembling my Tau army :). Remember that a white background and black writing hurts the eyes. But when the colours are reversed, all is well. I'd give that a 7, and I'm looking forward to the next report. |

| i play warhammer 40k, and what some other people said about putting the information to the side would really help. also, just a few little things like "That shot easily wounded, as my gun’s strength was much higher than the Chaos Space Marine’s were." overall, pretty good in my eyes for a first timer. |

Orks > Everything
That aside, this was a very good report. That Chaos player was a moron, how did he manage to not rapid fire those genestealers into the grave? (I play Chaos.) You explained Warhammer 40,000 wonderfully, much better than I could have, I think. (And yes. I know my other 40k reports sucked.) And there's two other units that can stop Genestealers once they get close.
Bloodletters and Daemonettes. Bloodletters (for those who don't know) are daemons of Khorne, the Blood God. They have power weapons, a 3+ armor save, a 5+ invulnerable save, and an obscene WS and Strength. Daemonettes are topless daemon women with rending and they reduce the enemy' Inititave by 1.
An army that takes both of these can kill absolutely anything.
Great report, keep up the good work. I'm mostly leaving 40k for Battlefleet Gothic, (more tactical and a hell of alot cheaper) but I still break out the Iron Warriors 7th Grand Company from time to time. Come try eating us in the Eye of Terror, biotches! |

A Warboss with a bodyguard of Nobz in Mega Armor owns absolutely anything, including Bloodletters. 4 (6 for the Boss) attacks on the charge, WS 4 (5 Boss), sure they hit last but who cares? With a 2+ armor save, plenty will survive, and then you get lots of Strength 8-10 attacks to roll. Fun!
Plus, just a standard Slugga Boyz squad of 30 gets 120 attacks on the charge, and all at Initiative 4 due to the Waaaagh! rule. Even more fun. |

| Actually, most of the people I play have Space Marines. It's not about who wins, but how fast I can kill him. |

Battle Report was pretty fun reading, but I have something nagging at the back of my mind:
"To make it short, my Genestealers shredded apart his Chaos Space Marines, bringing down a squad of 20 down to 4." This is nigh impossible. I play as Nids and lost the little bugs like crazy, but even I know that this simply will not happen. Statistically, six genestealers with 18 attacks on the charge will cause three automatic wounds, and hit the enemy with an additional ten of the total attacks. (3+ to hit space marines) Of those ten hits, five should wound. (Strength 4 vs. Toughness 4) Of those five wounds, only one or two should fail armour saves. This would leave the squad of twenty marines with around 15 goons. The situation you described would have meant that of the 18 attacks from the stealers, all but 2 caused wounds that weren't saved by a 3+ save. I find this highly doubtful. Please explain. |
