I loved the Rollover pictures. Sexy. At first I was like, woah? what's with this pic? Then my mouse cruised over it and it changed. My pops popped open at the sexy Mini-map update. Sexy sexy.
The writing was quick, witty, and kept the pace going. I loved the backstab at the end. Props to you for actually doing it. Most fear backstabbing Dag. *Except Decay. Read his last report*
Pictures did a great job in most places but sometimes when you had some parts darkened or missing. One picture that comes to mind is the "Ripped Apart" or something akin to that. Kinda played tricks on my eyes.
I'm going to also have to rate this a 8.5. Even a 9. You stuck to the action, made it witty, and kept my attention. Loved it. I'll reread it later to see if I can spot other examples I loved or disliked. |

Oh, man, there's so many good things about this. I loved the format, at least for the most part. The white chess piece pics hurt my eyes with all the darkness, but that may just be this monitor, not holding it against you either way.
The writing, at least most of it was just great. Funny, clear, and it kept us well-informed. No small feat considering the seven man FFA thing.
The pics I thought were nice, except the "Dag gets ripped apart" one, which I really, really, really didn't like. But the rollovers, as I told you, were really sexy. Loved that.
Alt-text was wacky, I didn't get that much from it, but in some places it was really funny.
Now, I was really wanting to give this a 10 for the first half of the report. In fact, I was debating the 10 until more or less the time you started the Tom Cruise bit. I just didn't get that part, didn't find it funny, at least not funny enough to be worth the space it took up.
In fact, after about the halfway point pretty much all of the humor seemed forced and like it wasn't really working for me. The first half was all right on, inspired mattz goodness, though.
I was hoping you could bring it back up since I just knew there was going to be some huge momentum swing at the end. And there sort of was, but it just didn't make up for the other things, in my opinion.
This was fan-fucking-tastic. But I feel it could have been much shorter, and that did bring it down to me. I really can't think of anything you could have done better, though I grant you if there are graphical problems I wouldn't really notice, but it just seemed to be too much to me.
If I could give tenths, this'd be a 9.3, maybe a 9.4. As it is, here's a nine. |

AMAZING report though! 9 or 10 quality. That really is an awesome map -- we need to play on it more!
I think I saw that rep at some point a long time ago. The game seemed vaguely familiar to me.
I can't really think of any criticisms for the report itself...it never lagged for me, and I could always follow the action. You probably skipped past the boring parts and focused on the interesting stuff. The intro might have been too long though. |

Gold. Pure gold. Well, except for the random abuses of the English language, but those were far fewer and farther between than almost anything I've seen in a while. Looked great, it was an amazing game, and I followed it all the way through.
Plus you even got me rooting for Ling, which is some sort of minor miracle. ;)

Good directions on an underused map, although some descriptions seemed a bit long winded. You followed the action everywhere, which is hard to do on a big ffa and the images did just the job of helping the reader figure out what is going on until some point, but around the middle it was more like "yet another image of seiged tanks, yet another image of other random unit". If you have photoshop id definitly recommend you spend some more time on image editing. And please, for the love of god stay off the cheesy glass/ice/funky color effects and huge multipage images.
With a report of this size its a good idea to add a small roundup of what has happened every few pages to keep readers on track, just a zoomed in minimap with the area each player controls.
The big map mouseovers where more than helpful, this should be a standard in most reports.
Always good to see ling nuked, hes tough to kill ^_^

Well I read the entire thing, and there's no way I can't give it a 10. Your pictures were sometimes weak - the "best served cold" one was by far the best - but if you want we can talk about that on AIM or something; it'd be easier that way. The rollovers were a great idea however, and I liked your regular status updates, they kept things very clear for me.
Of course the thing that pushes the report to a 10 was the enormous supply of thoroughly excellent writing. Although your intro was (way) too long, the rest of the report more than made up for that. Actually, this was easily the best writing I've seen for over a year. And, of course, the game was pretty killer. Thanks for giving me fake eyebrows and red eyes btw . . . I hate you.

This is a work of art.
The action was followed nicely, and I particularly dug the final showdown breakdown (heh); the dancing of the three armies was well-described and you effectively captured the precarious state of the game. It was nice to see well, you, holding out nicely against what (at one point) was a mega-death-dagpire-extravaganza (honestly, five mining bases w/bcs?!) and so on and so forth.
I agree with Dialtone; a status breakdown every once in a while would have been nice, but no love lost for this wicked report. Cheers, |

Either way, fucking legendary game, must have been a trip to hell and back managing all the screenshots for such a long bout. I thought the pictures worked quite well for what they were; you can go for effects and impact or show the units/fighting more clearly. You went for the former and it worked pretty damn well. Seeing pictures of Dag is _always_ a plus.
Minimap hover was kewl, good updates once in a while, it's virtually impossible not to get lost in a 2 hour game with 7 players ;p
My eyes were watering when I saw the O-cannon, man I miss those times -,-

the absolute worst part about reporting FFAs is that you have to fast forward through the replay to get to something you want. in a game this long, that's torture. my hope is for SC2 to have a more practical fast forwarding system in replays (like being able to skip to a certain time).
also, watching this game made me want to touch Brian's private parts more and more with every time i watched it. so since i've watched it at least 10 times. . . |

funny game, my favorite part was the picture of dag with red eyes and giant brows. i think i remember when this was played, and the talk of it becoming an epic br. took a while, but it's here.

I'm on a modem so I had to manually load most of it. After awhile I just stopped hitting "show picture" on the images because most of them didn't do anything for me anyway.
Having said that, reading this as a text only, it's still easily the best report I've read in quite awhile. I followed everything perfectly even without the images. The writing was very lucid.
I'm so proud that Dag finally learned how to power properly. |
