Having only tried this for 2 short games, this game sounds like it is at least as good as Agricola. Agricola relies more on the luck of your initial card draw to some extent, but that is also why it has near unlimited replayability. Presently Agricola is my favorite board game of all time.
If anyone on this forum is looking for the best board game they have ever imagined, try Puerto Rico or Agricola. With a few friends that like games it is a better play experience than any computer/video game imho. Add beer and snacks and you have achieved perfection.
You can pick up Puerto Rico for $33 shipped on Amazon, while Agricola is going to cost you double that shipped, so that's a good reason to start with PR.

Of course, history is cyclical, so no doubt some guy named EmperorPenguin will secure hegemony mid-July by reporting a mix of FreeCell and Shattered Galaxy.
Wizard's Quest remains one of my favorite board games, but that's a combination of "old = better" and the people I played it with. I doubt the actual game mechanics have much to do with it.

Interesting.
I liked the organization you had in your report, but the missing punctuation and lack of capitalization were definite turn-offs when reading pages of text. |

I went back and checked your old reports. Apparently you never used capitalization in those, either, so this is your hallmark style. You only have two pics for the whole BR, though, so I guess my "wall of text" comment stands.
Anyway, the categories were really helpful and the strategy comments helped me get a feel for the game. Some kind of diagram or flowchart would have been even better. |
