i will start off by saying, Dev.... its not all your fault man. we had blue and i completely blew it because of my fear of teals 5 shuttles that were out there somewhere. after i killed blues dragoons i still had like 6 hydras left but i paccked them up (like a coward) and sent them back to my base assuming (nvr assume) that your forces had it easy. and my lack of skill with zerg didnt help much either (have i ever heard of queens?). well it was a hard fought game that we could have and should have won. good report. the paragraph about my tactics... OUCH.

note to self... queens are a good thing
my first time in a br and its a loss.... OUCH again

good game dev and next time i guarantee victory :)

A little hard on yourself dev?

But Dev's not bitter. My god, no.
Don't sweat it Dev. You should track me down in NoHunters and play me. That'll boost your self-esteem alot. I'm an easy kill

All the best,
Fractal_Wave

Excuse me? A Six? What the hell is this?

I've seen lesser reports get eights.

Sorry. I spat that out in a flash of frustration.

It's ok Dev... You don't suck worse than me. After Mark4 and Fizban_ demolished me and Upgraded Kakaru in a 2-2, although there was at least some resistance... Upgraded Kakaru insisted on a rematch, even though it's alot like two junior college basketball players playing against two top college draft picks. Fizban left, which left a 2-1 that UK didn't want to play, but I knew Mark4 wasn't going to quit. I look away from UK for ONE minute and he's dead to a zergling rush... he never even said help or anything... Now I'm supposed to beat Mark4 in a 2-1 that is really a 1-1 with Terran against zerg, early game, and I hadn't counted on needing detection due to my partner having overlords... Of course Mark4 raped me again... and most likely, you can read about my failures here, because an observer promised to post the games, even though there was no point in either game where the tide swung or anything about the games that would make an interesting report. I know you are supposed to be a good sport about this stuff but this is just too much. I figure I'll beat the reports to the punch and just publicly denounce myself as having no worth at Starcraft whatsoever, and if that's not enough, maybe we could post naked pictures of me covering myself in shame.

We can be bitter together Dev... =(

By the way, I'm going to rate your report now, and it will go up because I agree with you. It was good, but a few pics or even a few subtitles or lines of bold type to highlight key points would have made the well written report a touch easier to focus on. If you're like me, might as well report the game, since I can't play it.

Hey man don't sweat it.

A couple ideas for you: hotkey your gateways, stargates and robotic facility. 2k 3k 4k 5k will help you make more dt's faster while you're still nursing them eating up that gateway.

Don't go overboard with reavers they cost too much.

Expand a lot, preferably while you're attacking.

Don't use the mouse for anything you can do with keyboard alone.

Make more templar. When in doubt, make more templar.

Archons are good against carriers. Even if you get only 4-5, they have a chance at costing the other guy a fortune. Splash damage microwaves interceptors in mid-air. Also, a neat trick is storming ahead of carriers. If you can time it right, it can kill interceptors going in or out.

Templars don't own carriers. They can wear them down as support units, but you need other troops to stop them. Scouts are really good if you can afford them. Arbiters/observers are good too. They will do two things: make him sweat detection against incoming high templar and hide your other forces, they'll also stasis half of his. Stasis is a great spell, far better than psi-storm. That's why it costs so much.

Two half-full arbiters can stop a 12-carrier rush very, very cold and detached if I may say so.

Oh, and, before I forget, arbiters can help you hide from broodling. Those things rule. Let's look at it this way: if the other guy could afford that many carriers, and you can't afford those arbiters, you've lost the game anyway.

ProtossCraft is about spellcasters these days. Sure, there are mass goons and mass carriers, the two things with no obvious counter. But counters are there... they're just expensive.

This reminds me a of a newbie ffa I've played. It was 5 people on an orbital death I think? You start on islands but all the resources in the middle are a big chunk of land. I managed to get land superiority on all of the land, and would starve everyone by killing expansions with an army of zealots, goons, corsairs and scouts. Then a guy showed up with over 12 carriers (first time he did it, they all died, but I've let him expand more than others). The second time, I didn't have my fleet together and they died to carriers and cannons, parts at a time. He leveled some of my middle bases then came for my main. I'd feed him storms and templar all the way, while expanding some more and building gates everywhere. I had my remaining dragoons take out all of his stargates and resource nodes, all while my main was crumbling building by building (he chose not to go after the goons, it's a big map). Eventually he were left with four carriers by the time my main base was completely gone. Then 3-4 scouts came over and concentrated fire on those carriers to death.

Ok so it was a newbie game but the point being, spellcasters backed by scouts shouldn't have a problem dealing with carriers. Just make sure you've got the moolah, and he doesn't, or has less than you do. :)
