And i never intended to make a BR for this game, but i just can't help myself. I just can't sleep w/o thinking about the battle after the game. Sorry got no pics, this is a 1 on 1 battle.
The battle takes place in the map challenger.
Both players opted to go random.
Neo draws terran and starts at the norhern part of the map. While ']['amaraw got to lead the noble protoss.
The protoss opted for an early two gates. With a pylon, gate, pylon then gate build order. After which a probe was sent to investigate what the terrans are upto.
SCOUTING
The probe interdicts the enemy, gathering precious information about the terran tactics being employed. Neo built all of his structures at the choke, supply depot, barracks and bunker. But the marauding spy was dispatched by marines. As this happened 2 zealots are already produced and are sent to maul the enemy peons while the choke is still open. Passing the choke and ignoring bunker fire the zealots marches directly to the SCVs.
FIRST BLOOD
Worker massacre thought the protoss warriors. But that was not destined to happen as the terran commander showed his ability to micro his units well - hit and run tactics. The zealots were lost without doing any damage except for making the workers stop mining for about a minute or less. Also a valuable information is gathered as the terran had already started mining vespene gas.
CHANGE OF PLAN
Seeing the attack failed miserably, the protoss commander hastily warps an assimilator, forge and a cyber core - accumulated money after the micromanagement made on the two zealots. Zealots were produced while the cyber core was being warped in. Afterwhich dragoons and and zealots were alternately produced to conserve vespene to warp robo fac and robo support bay - which was warped a little farther from the other structures to keep terran from knowing the protoss main goals - that is to reaver drop past the heavily defended choke.
PLANNING AN ATTACK
After several scan sweeps the terran finally decides its ripe for an attack. Killing some zealots just guarding the center with hit and lure to tanks tactics. I ordered my men to retreat, clearly they will get massacred by such a huge army of marine, medic, firebats and tank. Due to the confusion, the retreating army of zealots and dragoons are placed in the wrong choke. The terrans managed to block the choke point with his army and fortified it with a bunker and turrets. During which time ']['amaraw decides to expand in his left island expansion and warp in a citadel of adun and then templar archives. Two photon cannons were warped in to defend the warping nexus.
BLOOD THIRSTY
The terran not contented just sitting around begins his tank push. At the same time the protoss plans to counter with the rag tag group behind the terran blockade and to retaliate w/ a reaver drop. As the terran is too busy micro managing his push.
FAILED COUNTER
But a terrible mistake happened as the speed upgraded shuttle flew over the terran encampment and was blown off the sky. Followed by another blunder, the separated group attacked from behind and was easily finished off by the tanks and marines, even w/ zealot leg enhancements. Terran murdered the protoss army using stim to its best effect.
LAST DITCH EFFORT TO SAVE THE MAIN
Summoning dark temps and zealots to draw fire are the last means of defense for the protoss. At the same time two gates were built to protect the thriving expansion. But the clever terran is patient enough to slowly whittle away the structures. Two dark temps were dropped at terrans main but was easily dispatched by marines in a bunker after a scan sweep. The zealots and newly summoned dark temps died a horrible death back at main as comsats revealed their location for the arclite siege tanks.
RETREAT AND SALVAGE
At this point in time there was no way to save the main base for the protoss. So the protoss commander shuttled some probes and dark temps into the expansion. Dark temps were produced non stop in the expansion while the templar archives is still standing.
MAXIMIZING TIME & DELAYING TACTICS
Seeing the protoss slowly overruned by the terran army; thanks to a lone reaver and two photon cannons guarding the vital structures for slowing the terrans for those few precious seconds to rebuild the necessary structures at the expansion.
HUNT AND DESTROY WORKING EXPANSIONS
The protoss will surely die if no action is taken. Thus a dark templar drop to terrans expansion is in order. To the protoss commander's surprise, there was no expansion to be found and instead warped in another nexus at the top right island expansion. By this time the 1st island expansion was in siege. Rounds from siege tanks blasted away photon cannons and hapless dragoons w/o fear of retalition.
KEEPING THE PRESSURE ON
Drops were to follow as the terrans finds a place to land in the northern edge of the island. The first drop was repelled by goons and zealots, losing both photon cannons to siege tanks. But one goon was the only thing left defending the expansion as two medic healed each other and acted as a spotter to destroy both of the gates.
SUCCESFUL DROP
A drop of 6 dark templars is made instead of defending the now undefendable expansion. This time mining was stopped for good as the bunker and the tank are sent into hell. Destroying as many supply depots before leaving to defend the last remaining stronghold of the protoss army.
REBUILD FOR THE GLORY OF PROTOSS
The protoss is yet again needed to rebuild all of his buildings, but cannons were warped in while the forge is still up and running on the first expansion to buy some time to warp all necessary building to create high templar and research mind control for a dark archon. Knowing that terran couldn't possibly siege my last expansion w/o the scanner, the terran made an expansion below his main. Again constant barrage of siege fire destoyed whatever structure and unit that can be reached in the islands bottom portion. While the terran also teched to ghosts for the dreaded NUCLEAR STRIKES.
STRIKING FEAR
Nuclear strike clears a landing zone for the ghost to strike the last protoss expansion. Another nuke dropped at the heart of my expansion and destroyed 2 reavers, all of the photon cannons below the island and a shuttle. Another reaver popped out at the robo fac. A photon cannon is produced to detect the cloaked intruder, the ghost fires round at the photon cannon. At last a sign of that insidious killer, the reaver attacked the pylon near the invisible assasin and destroys the ghost with the splash damage. Another drop was made at the left center of the island and the dark archon mind controls the transport, but the ghost drops just in time to avoid a possible disaster. Another nuke was launced to finish off the already battered buildings. The terran is real good at using cloaked ghost drops.
SPLAT
Kzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzt, the high templar saves the day with a storm.
SURVIVAL INSTINCTS
Astrong will to survive by the protoss keeps them standing. A drop was made at the back of terran expansion w/ dark temps and the command center was forced to lift. The shuttles then proceeded scouting the whole map for other terran expansion as well.
A WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY
The terran made a big mistake of just covering land epansions and the 1st protoss expansion. Another protoss expansion was built in the middle right island as the minerals in the 2nd expansion are slowy dwindling. The terrans are desperate to get vespene as the cc that lifted off secured a vespene only expansion.
GETTING IN THE DRIVERS SEAT
A series of drops ensues after the other to keep terran from gaining wealth, and assasination of terran infantry scattered around the map used for scouting are all destroyed. A drop of dark temps and reavers cleared the choke at terrans main. At last, the terran outpost w/ most of his buldings are now gone. An expansion at the left middle was found, 2 scouts are sent ahead to draw fire from the turrets and a drop of dark temps and 2 reavers followed.
SEEING THE DAYLIGHT
The terrans now have only the protoss initial expansion in hand. With one BC against two carriers and renewed access to all of the resource locations, the terran finally waves the white flag. To avoid further casualties.
LESSONS LEARNED
1) Never fail to expand even if winning.
2) Variety of units gives a commander a lot of choices.
3) Never give up :) |
