Lithium (warning: I could not even attempt to recreate this guy’s actual name. It has too many weird things in it. I’ll just call him Lithium.)

Let’s Get Ready To Rumble!

Savage used a rather routine build: Pylon, Gateway, Scout, Gateway, Forge. Bulgarokton’s build was identical to Savage’s until he constructed a second pylon before a second gateway. Bulgarokton then went for an early gas.

Both players played it safe, building a sufficient number of zealots to hold off an attack. Bulgarokton was the first to construct a Cybernectics Core, while Savage took a more defensive approach and built 3 cannons at his choke point. Savage then builds a Cybernectics Core and Assimalator simultaneously.

Bulgarokton relies only on his Zealots Psi Blades for defense while he warps in a Citadel of Adun and a Templar Archives in quick succession. Only once his Templar Archives is complete does he warp in a few Photon Cannons in strategic places.

Savage also constructs a Templar Archives, but only after he has warped 4 dragoons from Aiur. Savage then throws up a Robotics Facility and makes the move to expand to his gimme expansion.

Meanwhile Bulgarokton has begun construction of the potent High Templar, and has also researched their destructful spell: Psi Storm. Bulgarokton also makes a Robotics Facility and produces a few shuttles before he warps in a Robotics Support Bay.

Lights! Cameras! Action! Now the action finally starts. Both contestants have massed their troops and are waiting for the moment to strike.

Bulgarokton sees Savage’s attempt to expand so he
shuttles a probe over to the ledge above his expansion. He then warps in a pylon, unbeknownst to Savage, intending to cannon his expansion. Only one cannon was able to attack the Nexus, but that was still able to kill it due to the fact that Savage only had a few goons, and Bulgarokton had the high ground advantage.

Savage, craving more money after the fall of his first expansion, expands again to the 3:00 start. Bulgarokton also expands at the same time, but to his gimme.

After locating Savage’s new expansion via observer, he dropped 2 reavers at it just as the valuable Nexus warped in. Needless to say, the expansion fell with little resistence.

Editor’s Note: Throughout the whole game Lithium (the other observer) and I had been chatting about strategies. In this picture you can see him challenging me to 1v1 on Dire Straits after the game. I gladly complied. We both played well but in the end we allied due to sever exhaustion on both sides. But alas, that is another BR for another time. GG.

Bulgarokton now has a large resource advantage and expands once again to the 9:00 start location to further his economical lead.

Meanwhile Savage moves to expand to the top left island expansion. This attempt is stopped before any Photon Cannons can warp in, though, as Bulgarokton drops 2 reavers and 2 Dark Templar on the island. The waning sounds of Warp Blades and the smash of scarabs signify the fall of Savage’s 3rd expansion attempt.

Bulgarokton’s main base is now depleted of all minerals so he Maynard Transfers to his gimme expansion to keep his probes busy and to insure a steady income of resources.

Still desperate for money, Savage expands to the bottom left island expansion, but once again this is spotted by a patrolling observer. Bulgarokton Disruption Webs the defense of the island and drops two reavers on the expansion to kill the Nexus and Photon Cannons.

Now SavageTeaCup is probably typing "Show me the money" like mad, because he is out of minerals. Now he must sit and wait...

El Fin! ("The End", for those of you not reading in Espanol)

Below is pictured the valuable pylon cluster that will be used to power the might Carrier Fleet that is sure to come! If only it were to be destroyed, then Savage’s destruction might be prevented – or at least delayed.

Ahh, but alas, that day shall never come. The Carrier Fleet takes off seeking action – and action is what it finds. 12+ Carriers raze Savage’s base with the help of Disruption Web and the game comes to an end.

Good Game Contestants. Good Game Observers. It was fun.

Lessons Learned:

-Attack! Scout! At several points in the game Savage could have killed Bulgarokton quite easily with just sheer force, but he was just unaware that he had more troops

-If you can’t kill your opponent, starving him is the next best thing. Containment also falls under this category. Map control wins games as Johnny_Vegas showed us in a previous Battle Report

Good game guys, and sorry I took so long getting this report up.
