Wonder why I picked that title? Well, it's a little map I made two nights ago. I'm very much into drawing, and I like to create artistically entertaining maps more than balanced ones. So after discovering how the desert tileset looks so much like skin on the minimap and the oil pits look a lot like hair, I set off with my map editor canvas, my one size brush, and my dirty mind to create a nude work of art. Some of you may disagree, but I couldn't care less.
If you don't feel like reading the report and just want to look at the map just scroll down below to the pics.
THE TEST:
After the map was done, and me being the newbie that I am, with the lousy ISP that I have, and the lousier modem that I own, tested the map playing against the comp. My red bar marks me as a leper on B.net, so I had no other choice.
I picked terran, and random for the comp. The map is 192 x 192, for four players, and can be played TvB. It's a lot like Snowbound, meaning: No hills to leave your base on foot, with two main expansion spots, free second gas geyser somewhere in your base, and very small mineral clusters located on the "nipples" of the map. I ended up on the top right position, with no idea where the hell the computer was.
THE GAME:
The map played out beautifully. I started building my barracks at 7, depot at 8, gas at 10. Couple of Marines popped out for minimal protection, bunker nearby, while I teched for an airport. I sent most of my marines and a couple of medics to cover the second geyser, while building the refinery, second CC and turrets.
A couple of comsats revealed a zerg comp south east, with loads of mutas. More marines and turrets were made, second airport, transports, and I ferried two tanks and a bunch of troops south, with valk protection.
Newbie mistake No. 1: DON'T LEAVE YOUR TROOPS UNATTENDED!
I landed the troops somewhere along the thigh of the map, and while distracted on my base, a batch of mutas and hydras eradicated my first harassment attempt. By the time I got there, they were destroying the tanks. I quickly went up and prepared my marines for the massacre. The ugly flying bugs got bullets and missiles even under they tongues.
Then the computer started screwing up. I think this happens mostly with zerg comps. It starts sending troops one by one, or in couples, but no massive attacks. I expanded around the arm expansion on the map, and destroyed one of the comps expansions northwest. Grouped some troops again, and sent them over to the main enemy base. I attacked from below with tanks, took care of the opposition, ferried the tanks up, and moped up the enemy base. The zerg stopped making troops (out of minerals I guess) and it got real boring.
I "black sheep walled", and found a small comp expansion on the south west spot, but with no troops there, just drones. Took a couple of screen shots of the map and was happy to see that it worked out well, but still wondering if the comp ran out of money because of the way the map was laid out.
This needs some live testing. Any takers?
El Cazador
P.S. Bet I get rated beyond a 10. Somewhere along.... say... PG-13? | | Battle Shots! | "Lust in the desert.scx" in all it's glory
 The first comp attack. *Yawn*
Destroying the base (You can see the explored face of the mini-map)
After "black sheep walling" I rescued a nipple from being mined
Lucy, I'm home! A great use for a "sarlac pit" doodad.
