Alright, this is my first battle report so cut me some slack. I started with my usual terran build order of barracks on 7, supply depot on 8. I followed this with 2 bunkers above and below my Command Center, then went for a refinery and Engineering bay. Both I and Elite were scouted about this time by Cyrix' SCVs.
I went to work on a factory with visions of Johnny_Vegas- like mastery of spider mines in my head, but as the first couple of vultures came out of the garage door my ally elite took a zealot/marine rush and I sent my menial vulture force to his aid, meanwhile emptying my bunkers and sending the 8 or so marines to attack Cyrix down at the bottom. The vultures died quickly but managed to lay some spider mines at Elite's chokepoint first. My marines ran into a line of probably 12 brown marines on the high ground at Cyrix' entrance area. They didnt live long.

I expanded to my natural expansion, but a couple of dark templars were there quickly so I flew the new Command Center to the upper left island. A newly arriving SV along with some siege tanks cleared my expansion and I restarted building there. I now had 3 factories, and was working on my second starport. Money was flowing in more quickly then I had plans to spend it from my two new expansions.

Throughout my expansion period I heard Elite scream for help a lot, but he didnt appear to be in much trouble, had gone to his natural expansion (as had everyone) and was making a push on the Protoss expansion at the right of the map with some half hearted help from my Science Vessels. It was disasterous but my Science Vessels escaped.

I attempted a drop of 8 Goliaths, upgraded and at 1/1. They took out Cyrix' peon line before dying, but my follow up drop of 12 Goliaths died as they hit the ground due to nicely placed siege tanks. My Drop Ships didnt even make it out alive. Cyrix learns quickly.

I decided to go nukes, and built 3 nuclear silos and started pumping out the ghosts. At this time Elite was hit by a force of about 6 carriers supported by Observers. I sent ghosts up to lockdown some carriers but they were still low on energy and only two of them made successful lockdowns. It wasnt enough as more carriers were joining the fray and making short work of our wraiths.

So hoping to make a distraction I dropped a couple of ghosts on the ridge above Rocketseed's natural expansion. I did manage to do some heavy damage to the expansion but by this point it was too late. Rocket's carriers rolled across Elite's main base and swept up his remaining buildings, along with my expansion on the upper left island. Cyrix was relatively quiet.

And so there I stood with my main and natural expansion, waiting for the carriers to come. They didnt take long and my air defense was sadly inadequate to prevent him from steamrolling me as well. My ghosts didnt have enough energy for lockdowns, my goliats were too few and far between and I had gone heavy on tanks and turrets for my defense.

Rocket and Cyrix were courteous enough to ally up with me at the end.

Lessons learned:

- Have ghosts ready ahead of time if you know you're playing Protoss.

- Spider mines are really great for scouting, but a DT being followed by an observer can clear a nice path through them.

- If you have money, spend it on anything available rather then holding onto it until you decide on your next strategy.
