Thats all I knew about him. Thats all I needed to know... thats all I wanted to know.
Because I dont like killing people I know.
He had chosen Lost Temple as the setting for our duel and I had no problem with that. I knew the place well. I had hunted here before and, likewise, I had been hunted here as well.
I chose Terran as my instrument of pain and he opted for the all-powerful Protoss. I already knew which units he would use against me and what tactics he would employ as well. The Protoss have certain inflexible habits and they can get very predictable most of the time. I depended on that predictability to stay alive.
When our war commenced I found myself at 3:00. I stuck one SCV in the chamber and cloned the other four to different patches. Simple stuff. Second nature. I wasnt even thinking about it. I was busy plotting ahead to the malicious things that I would pull out of my hat and hand to this guy. My first depot went down on 8 at my choke. My path was chosen and I didnt care if he knew it or not. Lets see him stop it.
First barracks on 10 went down next to the depot and when that was finished I sent the SCV who had built it out into the field to make for a first casualty.
As my first marine emerged, a sleek, shiny probe came speeding into view at the base of my ramp and I knew that there would be no recon for him other than the simple knowledge of where I was. But it didnt test the ramp, it just skated back and forth a couple of times before gliding out of view somewhere back where it had come from.
I didnt mind if the Protoss knew where I was. If he didnt know where to come with that first drop then I would never have the opportunity to ruin it and no chance for a good counter attack. So, yes, Im securing my choke and I probably have my supply lines completely exposed and ripe for a reaver drop or dark templar drop or whatever youre going to drop on me this time.
Please.
My scout had found where the Protoss had set up camp but was shot down by cannon fire as he approached the ramp. Cannons, huh. :)Shin(: had something up his sleeve and he wasnt going to let me in on the secret. Thats fine, we Terrans have a thing called comsat and there is no stopping the comsat, it sees what it wants to see and there is no hiding from it.
Vespene had been collecting quickly and as soon as I had enough I threw down the first of many factories that would inevitably come. An engineering bay was erected as well soon after. That was just as important as the factories if not more so. I would at least have a chance without factories but not a prayer without turrets. An academy was built as well so I could find out what was going on in there. When it had finished I assigned the comsat station to #0 and flashed him. A templar archives. Well well. I didnt see a robotics facility though. But that didnt mean he didnt have one.
:)Shin(: had earned a little recon on me as well. My depots were spaced a little off and he was able to slip a zealot through my defenses and get a free look. He saw the two factories and the engineering bay and the academy. But I was certain he had missed the command center that I was constructing at the edge of my base...
It had been quiet till now. My rear defenses comprised of a couple of turrets, a bunker and a tank on each side of my command center. And that zealot, he had come to get recon true, but also to see if I would have adequate defenses to hold his drop. He obviously thought not because soon out on the very edges of my vision I could see a small task force gathering out on my plateau. Shuttled piece at a time Id supposed. It was unavoidible, the drop always came. And I had long learned the Terran recipe for quelling the mini-riots that they flung at me. And I would quell this one, too. By the moon I-would-quell-it.
He charged in, lightning speed, warp blades glowing as he came. They left tracers that danced on empty air and bedazzled me for just a moment before I remembered that they had come to kill me. I estimated that their number was somewhere around eight, four zealots and four dark templar. But it was hard to tell with all the carnage about me.
My tanks opened fire, delivering that vital first strike that would soften everything up for my bunker to finish. The dark templar shimmered within turret range and became visible and my bunkers ripped into them as they came. A handful of SCV's were jerked over toward the tank and bunker
but were unable to save the tank and so they focused on the bunker. Troops arrived from my choke to reinforce and the Protoss threat was silenced.
During his drop on me I had had a dropshipful of vultures on their way over to him. It would be like a reunion. I swung wide in order to come in undetected and I knew that the majority of his army had just been spent and that he hadnt expanded and that I had a command center on its way to the bottom right island. The stage was being set. A quick scan revealed that he had one cannon placed over to the right for just such occasions. I landed out on the edge and when everyone had unloaded they raced in and started capping probes. The probes ran but I didnt follow. I didnt want to become cannon fodder and so I started depositing mines about the area until zealots and dark templar arrived to chase me around, detonating mines and eating vulture grenades before I was routed.
We had traded blows. I liked this guy. And so I wanted to kill him.
I scanned his natural where I could see a nexus and two cannons warping in. I responded with three dropships loaded with assorted tanks and vultures, sent two wraiths to patrol the other expansion sites and scanned his ledge.
:)Shin(: didnt strike me as incompetent and I didnt want to bring any joy to him. In the corner of his ledge he had stashed a single dark templar and a single high templar. I dispatched a pair of wraiths to deal with the matter before delivering my payload. The wraiths danced out from under two storms before the high templar fell and then it was just a matter of another scan before the dark templar was no longer an obstacle. My forces landed and the Protoss was under attack for the second time today.
I sieged my tanks and began planting mines around them to protect them from any drops he might throw at me. He let me shell his probes for a little while before sending a shuttle of zealots and dark templar up to get me off of his ledge. His forces were one dark templar when it was over, my troops were zero.
I used this time to expand again to the upper left island. I built a network of turrets there as well as a barracks and two bunkers on each island. If he wanted these it was going to cost him.
His expansion gets underway again and I wondered what his next move was. I comsat his base and expose the carriers. I knew it was just a matter of time.
I had built two starports at home in order to get dropships faster and I began to add more in order to get wraiths faster. My resources were humming by this time and I was able to erect three more starports one right after another for a total of five. My wraith fleet arrived quickly to say the least.
With twelve new wraiths, four tanks and a science vessel I decided the time had come to strike again. I moved my science vessel in to make sure there were no surprises waiting for me on the ledge. Nothing but an observer. I brought in the wraiths to execute it and then my tanks touched down.
Then something unexpected happened. My science vessel just exploded. Without a single enemy nearby except the probes I was shelling I was suddenly minus one science vessel. Then I realized what had happened. :)Shin(: was using dark archons against me.
Then came the carriers, lumbering into view like airborn behemoths. I cloaked my wraiths and my entire fleet engaged him. But the Protoss have storm on their side and after some help from nearby templar my wraiths were no more, only my tanks were left to be dealt with by immune carriers.
But my banks were full and my starports busy. My fleet was back within minutes and his carriers equalled no more than three after our last skirmish. His only expansion had been interrupted constantly while I had two expansions in full swing and unscathed and another started at 12:00.
And then :)Shin(: makes his second attack of the day. His carrier fleet, (Im guessing around five), makes a strike at my top left island expansion. I had had another drop to his cliff enroute but now I broke my wraiths away and headed for the island, leaving my tanks to land on the ledge without support.
As Im making my way toward the island I notice that he is actually attacking two places, two archons have been shuttled to my unripe 12:00 expansion and are razing SCV's and the command center there as well. Six spare wraiths leave my base on their way to salvage the twelve. They cloak on their way in and I scan, revealing the observer he has stationed there. My wraiths shoot it down and then go after the archons.
At my island expansion twelve more wraiths are making quick work of the carriers that he has there, and on his ledge sit three lone tanks, blasting away at his probes and then the nexus. Finally the natural expansion goes down and there is nothing left to do but clean up. Which :)Shin(: makes me do.
The rest of the battle was little more than a few token storms and feedbacks on the science vessels that I was using to spot for the siege tanks that were blasting their way into his main. And in the end four tanks and twelve wraiths rolled up into his base to finish off what used to be a major threat to me.
GG :)Shin(:

 What I did in response.
 The behemoths arrive.
 And I am routed.
