Shining Force 2

Welcome to the first ever Battle Report on a Role-Playing Game. It is kind of hard to do due to the fact that the storyline is already written down on paper. I will be working hard to change around the story line and what the chracters say, but I wont majorly detour from the storyline. I choose this very RPG, because of the fact that the battles are very strategic, and not like most where you call out attacks from behind your chracter. It is now from top-down view. The first part of this report is just about how the game works. The second part is the introduction to the game. By the way, all pictures have captions, and I have worked alot on this report.

I'm so cute its revolting! This is you. You can name him several things, yet he will always appear the same on the game world and his portrait will be the same. He is pretty weak at his first few levels, but he grows rather quickly in strenght as he gets experience. He can have up to 20 chracters join him. These are all different types. Bowie, this guy, is a sword man. Two others chracters join you at the start of the game, Sarah the Priest, and Chester the Knight. Bowie the Swordman Sarah the Priest Chester the Knight (he is a centaur)

Time to kick ass and chew bubble gum, but I'm all out of gum  As I said before, all of the battles are from a top down view. These battles are not random at all. All battles are pre-determined, and they only happen once. You and your party are placed on the map, then the monsters. These points are always the same. The chracters and the monsters move in order from the order of highest agility to the lowest. These are interwoven, so your get chracter, monster, chracter, monster, monsters, etc. This means that the first chracter has the highest agility. The chracter will now move up to their movement level. Upon moving, they may take on an action, which I will now describe.Hey, I'm a man with a horses butt!

Die monster, DIE! Attack:
Attacks are one-hit kind of affairs. First, at the end of your turn, you must be in range. Range is different for each weapon. Swords, lances, knives and other hand to hand weapons have a range of the adjacent squares. Spears and other weapons that you can throw are 1 more range than the hand to hand weapons. Bows are 1 from the chracter (maximum range equal to throwing weapons) but they cannot attack at hand to hand ranges. As soon as you select a Monster, it takes you to a screen where you strike the monster, doing damage. Damage is increased by your attack ability (weapons give you more attack) and the monsters defense subtracts from the total. That amount of damage is taken away from that monster's hit point total, then your chracter's turn has ended. When monsters attack you, the damage works the same way. Upon doing this, your turn ends.
This is the hand to hand range Ha, take that!

OoOoOo whats in there?Item:
Each chracter has 4 item slots. In these slots there can be items, weapons, or rings. There are items that do various things, like healing seeds, which heal Hit Points. There are weapons which increase your attack. And there are special rare rings that increase your abilities. In mid battle, you use items to do various things. First you have to be in range. Usually the range for an item is equal to the hand to hand attack. The item takes effect, then your turn ends.

KAAAAABOOOOOOOOOM!Magic:
Some characters have magic abilities that they learn. Each ability has 4 levels. These, as well must be earned. To cast a spell, make sure your target is in range. Then select the level of casting. The higher the level, the more magic points you must spend to use it. Then the spell takes effect. The spell can do damage, heal wounds, or other things. Some spells have areas of effect, so several monsters can be hurt with one spell. You get to cast one spell, then your turn ends.
Heal spell, level 1 Go, little fairy dude and cast your little fairy magic.

Atten-hut!!Stay:
It does nothing. It just ends your turn.

Yup, thats you!
Now on to the Stats. Each charcter has his own stats. This screen is what you get if you order up the stats for a chracter. LV stands for level, this is what level your chracter is at. Every 100 experience points your character gains, he goes up level. Every level you get, it increases your stats. HP stands for Hit Points. Thats how many hits you can take. MP stands for Magic Points. Thats how many points you get to cast points. EXP stands for Experience. Everytime you do damage or heal someone, you get experience. ATT stands for Attack. This relates to how much damage you do. DEF stands for Defense. This helps you absorb hits. AGI stands for Agility. This counts to which order your chracter moves in. A high Agility will also help your ability to dodge attacks. MOV stands for Movement. This is how far you can move. The rest is self explanatory.

That is basically the entire explantion. Now onto the introduction.

Once upon a stormy night....

It was incredibly stormy that night. Rain fell from the skies in large torents. A rat, or was it a rat?, ran into cave that was the ancient shrine. Two men followed him. The rat, he was almost human. He stood on two legs,  wore clothes, and about 5 feet tall. Yet he was not. His body was covered  with fur, and his face was that of a rat. The rat and the men stood in the doorway. The room that they were standing in had been seriously damaged over the years. There were two pillars in the center of the room, but the pillar on the right was smashed in half, the stone littering the room. The floor was made of square stones, most of the atleast cracked, if not broken. Broken pots and empty chests littered the back of the room. The room was not that big, the lantern that the rat was carring showed the back wall and two corridors, one from each side.
"Hmm.... Well this is the place." the rat said. He walked up inbetween the two pillars, and the two men followed him.
"I'll  look this way," the rat said. "You two stay here."
"Yes, Slade." the first man said.
The rat stepped over to the first corridor. He held up the lantern that the corridor curved to the right a few feet back. Stepping into the corridor, he smelt some kind of strange odor, the smell of decay. He turned around the corridor, and promptly hit a wall. He grumbled, feeling around for another way in. He cursed when he found none.
"Nothing here" the rat said. He stepped out of the corridor and walked across the room to the other one. Something, was not right...
The corridor had a similer twist. He expected the wall to be there, so he sent an experimental claw around. He felt around, finding the wall.
"Bah. Where are those jewels?" he cursed again. He slammed his fist against the wall. Something strange happened. The wall emitted a dull hollow sound. The rat's ears perked up. He hit the wall again. He grabbed his knife from his belt, and started prying at the chinks inbetween the stone bricks. Sure enough, a few brinks tumbled down. Lifting his latern, the flickering light revealed stairs receeding into darkness.
"Hey, guys, a little help?" the rat said. They promptly walked over. "Bash down this wall for me." the rat stepped back. The two men shrugged, and prepared to charge the wall.
"One, two, THREE!" They charged. Upon impact, bricks broke away sending up large showers of dust. The men, fell through, flying down the stairs. Luckily for them, the stairs were short.
"Very good" the rat said as he brushed dirt out of his fur. "Find anything?" there were two dull moans coming from the passageway. The rat stepped through the wall and decended down the stairs. The lanterns light showed the two men sitting up. A chest, still closed, laid and the bottom of the stair well.
"Could the jewels be here?" the rat said. He took his knife and pried the chest open. He looked inside, and all there was a flask of white water.
"This is not what I want." He cast the flask back into the chest and slammed it shut. He looked around the room. There was a small flash of light. He moved the lantern back. The flash was the lanterns light flashing back. He walked towards the reflection.
"There they are!" He ran up. Two jewels lay incrusted in the wall. "Heh heh, I've been waiting for this for a long time." he wrapped his claws around the legendary jewels, and pulled.
