Lifetime Rating for BomberII15: 5.0000 |  | So I had signed on to Battle.net after a couple days absence itching for a game. Of course this being me it would also mean I'm itching for a loss seeing as how I'm INCREDIBLY bad at this game. So I had just played a game against one CrimsonGhost138, he beat me, I went back to NoHunters asking for a game and Lerium says sure. We proceed to play 3 consecutive games. I was terran all 3 times (never random), first he was terran, then zerg, beating me both times w drops. The third time was the interesting game, it was short but he tried something very interesting. (Note: I consider myself to have a decent metal build against Protoss, and Lerium was curious to test my skill at it. Here goes.....
Map: Lost Temple
BomberII15 (Me): Terran, 6 O' Clock
Lerium: Protoss, 9 O' Clock
My Heavy Metal build goes something like this:
8 Barracks the scout
9 Gas
10 Depot-Depot (and a 3rd if necessary)
13 Factory (w machine shop)
14 Factory
I then want to get an expansion and academy ASAP, and 2 armory's if necessary, with more tech buildings as necessary.
As the game begins we talk about Heavy Metal counters and a little later he says he played an interesting game where he went Heavy Metal against a Protoss, but then dropped the subject.
As he brought that up I was having some trouble with my choke as I'm used to a Rivalry style choke and so I was marineless when he slipped a probe in to scout. I knew there was nothing I could do about it right then so I just continued, I already had my gas so I wasn't worried about him grabbing my gas.
I scout him and find he has NO gateways just a forge and 2 cannons warping in. So I grab his gas with my SCV (see pic #1).
While Lerium curses over that, my factories are going up and I see something strange... and dangerous, Cannons creeping towards my base!
I call myself a total idiot for not thinking that the probe was alive and making something nasty as i send my marines to try and take out the cannons before they warp in.
Needless to say I fail and the cannons slowly move towards my Command Center. I use my vulutre to kill the probe, but not in time, he's now in range of my Command Center, doh! (Pic # 2 shows the final number of cannons)
He then sends in several zealots and batters down my choke. Game Over. Well actually I floated my natural Command Center to the top right Island and he later reaver dropped me. Lerium informs me that that was what the guy had pulled on him and now I was a victim of it.
I thought that this was a highly effective move on his part and maybe a good thing to slow up heavy metal or do i just suck? Either way I thought this was an interesting, short game and a good starting point for me to try reporting. But I seriously do think this move would be an excellent stalling tactic for those fearing metal. Anyone agree?
