Yep it's a TvP ladder match, I don't expect you care what ascii makes up my opponents name... Yes it is temple.
OK, well upon joining a game called 1080++++ I manage to confound my opponent my picking terran, he simply couldn't believe I would chose such a weak race. So I assume in response to this he picks protoss, oh no not that matchup again, but hey I've been reading up about heavy metal and have a cunning new tactic to test out.
So I start off at 9, and commence the opening of the heavy metal build by blocking off my ramp, but this is merely a feint although usefully it means he can't scout me. He does spot my scouting marine leave base and he directs his first 3 zealots to rush me. Seeing my wall in he retreats but leaves one zealot as a scout, so I sneak out with 8 marines and butcher the single zealot. Well it's 1-nill to me so I am happy meanwhile I am building gas, 2nd rax, and academy. Ah you see I'm not doing heavy metal, but does my opponent know that???
Well it LOOKS like heavy metal
My scouting marine finds the enemy base at 12, and despite penetrating the enemy base doesn't show me anything interesting, so a minute later I comsat and spot a robotics facility warping in. Thinking reaver drops I am comforted by a seiged tank next to my CC, and I am getting turrets. Meanwhile I have 2 dropships filled with M&M, heading towards top-left. They make a sharp turn towards the protoss base, and are met by 2 dragoons, I look around and see my dropships have been shadowed by an observer :( Oh no the suprise element is gone, and even worse I discover I forgot to research stim :( Still he has very few troops, as he has expanded, and is building for carriers.
My dropships deliever their cargo, and escape as the goons fire on the marines that droped. Cursing my lack of stim I rampage through his probes and zealots. I now procede to demolish his nexus, my main target. He seems to have very few pylons so I direct my marines to take down key pylons supporting all his production facilities, 2 stargates, 2 gateways, and robotics all out of power :)
Hmm which pylon to take out??? and spot a CC ready to be floated down to my natural :)
Those dropships have long since fled, and having scanned his natural pick up 2 tanks and 8 M&M they head for his cliff escorted by two of my wraiths. It's one nexus down, one to go. They arrive on top of the cliff, and see another damned observer, I comsat and destroy the observer and he quits.
I feel my opponent started out very well, with his 3 zealot rush and turbo observer build. However I feel he made a grave error in choosing to go carriers. It weakened his ground forces severely, I have a suspision he cannoned up his choke, but I never checked. His carriers wouldn't have done much vs my wraiths anyway, I know he didn't try to build corsair or they would have popped out earlier.
I don't think my cunning ruse of faking heavy metal worked very well, as he didn't seem to be trying to counter HM, but then he had gone turbo observer. If I had been protoss I'd have gone mass goons + reavers, with carriers only when I had map control.
