They call this the biggest shopping day of the year. Guess what. They are so right.

I woke up at 7:15 am and got ready to go out with my mom. We drove 20 minutes to Best Buy after stopping at Dunkin Donuts. When we got to Best Buy the line to get INTO the store was all the way down the sidewalk to the corner of the store. I hopped out and got in line while she tried to find a spot. Eventually she did but I hadn't moved anywhere. :p They were letting people in in bunches. Finally at about 8:30 we got in.

The real reason we were here was to get a new computer for me. I looked in the computer aisle while she went to over to the PSX section to get games for my stepfather Ron. I went up and down the aisle three times weighing my options and my #1 choice was this Compaq AMD Athlon 500mhz with 128 MB ram and 16 MB video memory. This was the one that was advertised in the flyer. The second choice was an HP 500 with 96 ram and 8mb video. Anyway. She comes back and we hang around in the aisle waiting in a ragtag line to talk to this chick. My mom asks her to find out if either computer is in stock. She lets out this big sigh/moan and runs off somewhere. We wait some more until a guy comes by and says "you want a computer?" We're like "yeah" so he says "go talk to Bill up front."

Okay so we find this guy Bill who has his little tiny desk and no chair and we tell him which computer we wanted (the first one) while at the same time asking if it's in stock. He says, yes there is plenty and gives us a big piece of paper with a number on it. We walk down an aisle to another line where we stand and wait some more.

I tell Mom that I'll go look for more stuff since she only found Resident Evil 3. I go to the PSX section and find Medal of Honor convienently hidden behind some other M game and get that. I round the corner passing a Dreamcast station with Ready 2 Rumble Boxing on. I hesitate for a brief second thinking I want to play but there really isn't time. I look for Tomb Raider 4...let's see, Tomb Raider 1, Tomb Raider 2, damn, not here. Okay back to the line Mom is in. She's moved up about 2 spots and I say "sometimes it helps to look behind other games." I stand for a minute and then realize OH I need to get CD's too.

So I head over to the CD aisles and look at the front one which is all the new releases. Let's see my mom wanted some Celine Dion one that we saw in the flyer. Looking...looking...oh there's a Celine Dion one. Is that the one in the flyer? Damn I can't remember. I'll go have Mom give me the flyer that she's holding...oh wait she left it in the car. Shit. I keep looking down the aisle, aha, Third Eye Blind's new album, I'll get this for Jul (my girlfriend). Then I go to the D's where I see 6 different Celine Dion albums and of course I have no idea which one it is. Oh well screw it. I go over to Z where I get Rob Zombie for Ron. Swear to God.

Okay back to the line. Oh good only 2 people ahead of us now. I said "I have no idea which Celine Dion album it is." And of course my Mom is terrible with remembering album names or band names or game names or anything else really so she doesn't remember. So we bum a flyer off this guy in front of us and look in it. Aha, it's called a Decade of Song. Back over to the CD's I go, nope it wasn't in front, nope it's not in the D's, they don't have it. Back to the line.

Finally we get up to the front of the line where there is another little desk and this exhausted computer guy without a chair. We give him the paper with the number and he starts writing an order form. After he gives us this he says we get to wait in another line by the tech support part for "about another hour". But we look carefully at the order and see that the total is only about $950?!? So my mom being the sharp shopper that she is, says "no we want this one" and points to the flyer. The guy says "oh I'm sorry ma'am" and begins to fill out another form when his co-worker buddy comes by and says "oh we're all sold out of those, I just sold the last 2". My mom is not the type to drop f-bombs everywhere but she was getting that look. She said how the guy up front (Bill) said there were plenty in stock. Well the computer guy with no chair runs off and checks to see if there are any in stock. Of course there aren't. We ask about our second choice and that's not there either. We ask if they have anything comparable to the one in the flyer and he said "well we have this really high end machine that's 733 mhz but it's like $2500." My mom says that's too expensive. Damn that woulda been a cool computer too hehe. But they have nothing under $2000 except for some POS low end machines with like 32 MB ram and 4 GB hard drive space so we unhappily leave the line computer-less.

Then we head over to a cash register line and stand there. My mom comments on how other lines might be less so I tell her to go look. She does and finds that Celine Dion CD that I couldn't find. It was in some random spot up front. She also says that the line we're in is cash only and since she doesn't have any cash that's bad. We move to another line. We stand in the same spot for 20 minutes which is between the rap and sountracks aisles. Since we're standing there Mom tells me to give her the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack. She decides to get it after looking on the back cover. Hooray for impulse buying! Finally we start moving. By the way on the way from the computers to the cash register lines we noticed how there was no line to get into the store now. It's about 9:45 or so.

Finally we get up to the cash registers and pay for our stuff and then take the elevator down to the parking garage where we toss our shit in the trunk and plop down into the seats.

Then we get to go to the mall next door which has a Target. We park outside there and go in. Mom has to go pee really bad so I head over to electronics where I find Tomb Raider 4. Hooray! There's also a Dreamcast station where I pick up and play Sonic Adventure. Damn that game is hella fast. But this little 7 year old shrimp next to me says "i'm next!" and since Mom was gonna come back soon anyway I give it to the shrimp after I complete the first level. Then I move over to the Playstation play station hehe. Some game called Tiny Tank is there so I play that for a few minutes before deciding that it sucks. Mom is back now and so we get a shirt for my sister from me on our way to the cash registers which don't have lines like Best Buy. Mom tells me to go to the Hallmark store outside while she pays for this. I need to go to Hallmark to get Jul a Grinch. I find Mr. Grinch and pay for him and then walk out to find Mom just exiting Target. We head into Waldenbooks where Mom gets a $50 gift certificate but finds that she can't get a discount on the purchase even though she has her card. Again she gets that look and says how nasty this is which is about as mad as my mom will get.

We go into Babbage's to find the cheat books for RE3 and Medal of Honor. No TR4 books yet though.

I'm not quite hungry yet for some reason so I run down to EB while she goes into macy's to get whatever. EB has a Lara Croft calendar (why?) but no TR4 book. Seeing as how the store is really crowded as usual I decide not to browse around. I leave the store and take 5 minutes to sit on a bench before my Mom comes back and says 'let's go to Sears, you need nice clothes'.

Since I gained 20 pounds we don't know what size I am. So I try on all kinds of pants until we figure out which one it is. Then we get 3 of those size pants. Then of course we need 3 shirts. After about 10 minutes we find some decent long sleeve shirts for me and pay for them. Mom comments on how expensive I am. Yay.

Then we head down to the food court where we decide on Arby's. There are no tables available so we wait by this one table with a couple that's almost done. As they get up this guy swoops in and tries to take it but my mom cuts him off with a stern "we're waiting for this". hehe go Mom! I go over to Arby's and order a #5 with a diet coke and a #1 with a coke. Surprisingly I get my order in about 45 seconds. I go back to the table where mom tells me to get ketchup salt and more napkins. I run back over to Arby's and talk to the same girl and she gives me what I need. I go back and we sit down and eat.

Then we're ready to go so we head back to Target (that's where the car is remember) and load up everything in the trunk. Now we have to go grocery shopping because we have no food. We go to Market Basket and get all the food, I won't bore you with all that. Then we go home where I plop into my bed and sleep for 2 1/2 hours.

What a day.

Lessons learned:
- The day after Thanksgiving really is the biggest shopping day of the year.
- We probably could have done this another day.

Well I hope you enjoyed this. I remember how Ice did a "Night as a cop" thing based on real life so I thought this would make another cool real life BR. Shopping really is a battle sometimes. :)
