On: The Lost Temple
Deciding to try out various Terran strategies, I decided to make the one possibly most fun game type in Starcraft. The Free For All. I hit 'Create' and typed in: "4 FFA Temple." A friendly candidate walked in, and I greeted him. Two others soon followed and said hi. Their names were Aingeal, ArizonaDJ, and (=-Allstar-=). Everyone declared their readiness, and I got the game rolling. Everyone chose a race, most of them at the last second. I chose my Terran at 6 o'clock colored orange, Aingeal got his chosen Terran at 12 o'clock yellow, (=-Allstar=-) picked Zerg for his start at 3 o'clock with Teal as his color, and ArizonaDJ went random getting Protoss on the 9 o'clock and his color of purple. I was up against one of each race, this game would prove challenging. I started a wallin at my choke with a Supply Depot, Barracks, Supply Depot, then started a Refinery, and started saving for my first Factory. When it was about 800 HP, another started construction. I sent Deon on his scouting trip, finding the Teal Zerg at 3, then the Yellow Terran at 12. The Zerg had a hatchery at his main/natural choke and 2 Sunkens morphing when Deon zoomed out of there. The Terran stopped his scouting with a bunker at the top of the ramp. A Vulture was put together to continue my scouting, and I had a Machine Shop and E-Bay built. I had started putting Supply Depots around my CC and now got an Academy. My first Tank was directed into a nook in the supply wall around my CC and waited for Siege research to finish. I sent my Vulture to the 9 o'clock base to see what he had, but unfortunately it slammed right into 4 cannons gaurding the Toss natural. Early expansion eh? I scanned his main for tech buildings and screamed in horror as I saw 3 Starports and a Fleet Beacon just starting to light up. But when a corsair popped out, I was relieved so much I wet my pants. 2 Starports were constructed, and as soon as one was done I put a Control Tower on it. Cloaking and Wraith construction started, and about this time, my Terran friend at the 12 o'clock start decides it's a good time to leave, and promptly does so. No explanation was given, but upon a couple "wtf???"s from myself and ArizonaDJ, Allstar said he had just attacked. I scanned the old base, but nothing was even on fire... oh well, one less person for me to have to kill =). Now it's time to put my plan into action.
I expand to my natural with several Tanks and two Bunkers filled up with Marines. I start my CC there. I am now equal in expansions with all the other players. Or so I thought. Scanning revealed a fully operational expansion at the top left island. My Wraith squadron which now numbered 7 was going to secure the bottom island, but they ran smack into about 6 cannons! Do'h! This guy is an expansion whore! I quickly set to work taking the bottom right, but as of now he has 3 expansions to my 1. I constructed a Sci facility along with an Armory to start my air upgrades. I later added another Armory... when resources allowed. 2 of my tanks were quickly shipped to the island by my new Dropship. They took out a couple cannons and an Assimilator, and I dropped a second pair of tanks on the outer rim of the island. At least 7 1/1/1 Corsairs flew in, hovering over my Tanks. My Wraiths attacked, but only managed to injure a couple before a small rippling passer over my Wraiths... of the 7 Wraiths, 1 made it out alive, with a meager 8 hit points left. ArizonaDJ laughed, but it didn't last long as a medium hydra drop arrived and totally destroyed the expansion. He screamed "WTF a double Team!?!" and retreated his corsairs. 5 marines and an SCV came over in my third dropship, and lured the remaining Hydras to come into range of my low ground tanks, which promptly blew them to shreds. I construct a Bunker there then a Command Center.
My air upgrades have hit 2/0, or 0/2 which ever way you prefer to say two weapons upgrades, and I started producing Valkyries to counter his Corsair fleet. But let's not forget Teal now, I scan him (3:00) to see that he still only holds one expansion, but he now has 3 Hatcheries and 1 Hive. Another scan of the Protoss main (9 o'clock, right next to me) reveals 6 new carriers, but few interceptors. I take the opportunity and hit him with my 8 Valks, but do little more than take down his shields. My 3rd and 4th Factories go up, along with a second Barracks for Ghosts to lockdown his Carriers. But the Carriers never come. Upon scanning, I see that teal has no main. =P. His expansion is also missing a Hatchery. But strangely, so is the Protoss natural. Did I miss something??? Teal starts an expansion to the 12 natural, as I find later. Vehicle upgrades start as I start mining my island.
Tanks and Goliaths start coming out as I take my mineral natural. 2 Bunkers are filled and a couple Turrets are put up... So far I have not been in any major conflicts involving either of my opponents. Scans reveal a new Terran expansion at the 12 main. A purple SCV sits next to a Dark Archon and some Probes constructing a Command Center in the middle of the deserted Yellow main. My newly rebuild Wraith group attacks, taking out the DA then the Shuttle. His SCV is destroyed 50 HP from completing the Command Center, and I run away fearing a large force of Carriers. I meet them, but the Carriers are supported by observers and Corsairs, so I just run. Lockdown has finished and the energy boost is being researched. All weapon upgrades have finished, and I now get ready to pound some sense into the 12 o'clock Protoss expansion. 6 Tanks and 4 Ghosts land, and are greeted by 5 Carriers. I lock each of the giant flying Penii down and proceed to laugh in his face. But lack of supporting troops is my problem, and I am unable to finish them off. I do, however, force him to lift off his CC and get a few cannon kills. More scanning reveals a developed main base at the 12 natural, a Hive, Greater Spire and Defiler Mound are protected by sunkens. Nothing is left of the Teal start position, all Zerg structures have been Eradicated. Teal later expands back to his natural there.
Constant production of Dropships and Factory units has been continuing, and I am now ready to launch my assault on the Protoss main base. A single Wraith is sent in to distract cannon fire as my 10 Dropships unload. A swarm of Tanks and Goliaths start demolishing his base. It falls with no resistance, probably due to the fact that the purple natural had magically dissapeared. I load back up and continue my base raiding, finding an operational expansion with little bits of a Tech tree at the 12 o'clock mineral natural. My assault is then taken into the 12 main, finding only an unused hatchery there.
The reason that there was no resistance in the purple main was because every single one of his carriers flocked over my main base from the right side. An EMP was let loose, taking out all shields on the Corsairs as well as the Carriers. Goliath Hellfire missiles are let loose, pounding the hulls of the Protoss Capital ships. But once my ghosts moved in for the lockdown, he retreaded. But only to attack again along with a small dragoon force at my mineral natural. I locked every Carrier and shoved them right back up his ass where they came from.
I passed by another Zerg Expansion, this time to the 3 o'clock mineral position. Tanks raze the Hatchery, but Gaurdians move in to end the party. The Charon Equipped Gollies blow the crap outta them flyin bitches, but press their luck a little too hard and are taken down by plauge at the three o'clock natural.
A total of 11,000 minerals are in the bank, and I stock up on Marines. 20 of them are stimmed and sent to the neighboring 9 o'clock mineral natural where they find ArizonaDJ's Command Center. Upon razing it, a large force of Zealots march up to my mineral base and start destroying the defending units. I fend off the attack, but just after, a Dark Swarm is thrown up, and a horde of Cracklings hurl themselves at my bunkers. I was not prepared for this, and both my natrals fall. Luckily there were no more minerals in either. I am forced to curse and lift off half the buildings in my main before my wall of supply depots and Tanks around my CC can finish off the Crackling force.... Seems awfully like a double team to me.
Now I change my strategy around from a somewhat Heavy Metal game to a Deep Six strategy. 6 Barracks are put up, and Infantry start suiting up for battle. 2 E-Bays are now upgrading infantry weapons and armor. When I have about 50 assorted MMF, I stim up and charge in, taking out every last Zergling and Defiler there. Teal concedes the game, and leaves. ArizonaDJ now starts bitchin about how he could have killed me if he didn't attack Teal first. He may have been right, but as I was dropping his island, and finishing up and left over pylons/supply depots, I just told him it was his problem and to shut the hell up. His last building was found and the lag screen popped up (surprise surprise), but he thought better of it and just left.
Afterthoughts:
A) Wow, I used 3 HeartCutter strategies in the same game, he would be proud.
B) Carriers are still gay.
C) They either allied or Arizona was crazy because he was talking to someone and I couldn't hear what was being said back.
D) w00t! |
