Bad manner 2v2 on Hunters
|
Introduction
Hey all. I have learned from my mistakes and am back, more annoying and lame than ever. Today i have a special BR for you, on none other than the bad manner map Hunters^^ Several real life friends and I had been playing inhouse 2v2s and 3v3s and stuff for a while. We were planning on playing a 2v2v2, so Evire!! hosts, but some random guy that we had in our channel wandered off somewhere. Obviousley 5 is not a preferable number for team games, so both No_Religion (aka -TOOL-, -FOOL-, }8) and ILuv2Masterbate) and I scream and whine to obs, but since i am gosu and picked terran to float before him, Evire!! starts the game.
Map:
Bad Manner Hunters

Evire!!: Random Terran at 12
No_Religion: Random Zerg at 6
v.
Flyers!: Random Zerg at 3
dmb!!: Random Toss at 11
From my perspective, this looked like quite an interesting game. The races were pretty balanced - zerg/toss v zerg/terr, and an interesting twist was added since Evire!! and dmb!! shared a common choke.
The wide array of Hunters strategies
Yes, you guessed it. A rush-fest =]
Their Build Orders went as follows:
Evire!! did a standard 2 rax build, and dmb!! also did a standard build, going 2 gates. Both of them add a production facility a short period later (around 25-30 supply). No_Religion and Flyers! also did similar builds, getting an additional hatchery next to their first at around 12 supply, and ploping down a pool shortly after.

No_Religion's build order is in there somewhere
The first move of the game was done by dmb!!. Realizing his close proximity to Evire!!, decides to pressure him by sending his first zealot to attack him. He succeeds in killing 3 marines, but thanks to some frantic micro by Evire!!, the zealot is destroyed. He creates a bunker just incase, but the zealot was destroyed before he was able to hide his wimpy marines in it.
Meanwhile, dmb!! and Flyers! have decided that they have put enough pressure on Evire!!, and choose to attack No_Religion. No_Religion has added a third hatchery at his natural, and has also morphed his hatchery into a lair, preparing for more powerful units. 6 of Flyers!'s freshly made zerglings arrive to see this defenseless hatchery. Three of dmb!!'s zealots trailing by a good distance. Flyers!, being lazy, simply orders his zerglings to attack the building hatchery. No_Religion, who had been concentrating on drones and his economy, had quickly qued up lings from all the available larva. He rushed his first pair of lings at Flyers!'s 6 lings, only to find them not attacking back. Taking advantage of Flyers!'s stupidity, his 2 lings defeat the opposing 6.

Nice micro bud
No_Religion is not out of trouble yet though. Flyers! has hatched another 6 zerglings, and dmb!!'s 3 zealots have arrived. And this time,Flyers! actually used his zerglings correctly. Their combined forces were easily able to overwhelm No_Religion's smaller force consisting of about 4 zerglings. dmb!!'s 3 zealots moved on towards No_Religion's main base, hoping that Flyers! can destroy a defenseless hatchery by himself. Evire!!, sensing his partner is in trouble, responds by dispatching 10 marines to his aid. dmb!!'s zealots arrive at No_Religion's main, and start chopping at drones. No_Religion hastily makes zerglings with all his available larva, and sets the rally in his base. Once a few zerglings finished, he attempted to use fancy micro to destroy dmb!!'s zealots. However, the zealots were easily able to overwhelm the equal number of zerglings, and No_Religion, realizing that his drones will die if he continues to use them to attack, maynards all of them to his natural. By now, Evire!!'s semi-putzy marines have arrived and were able to save No_Religion's hatchery at his natural. The brave marines then jog towards No_Religion's main, and with the help of a few of No_Religion's zerglings, were able to easily defeat the injured zealots.

And things get interesting ...
During the attack, Flyers!, Evire!!, and dmb!! had added a third Rax/Gate, and began teching. Evire!! constructed an academy while dmb!! made a Forge and a Citadel of Adun. Flyers! ploped down an extractor and began getting gas, preparing for lair tech.
Both teams were also preparing to double one of their opponents. Flyers! and dmb!!, sensing that they had damaged No_Religion enough, decided to attack Evire!!. 5 zealots and 16 zerglings charged into Evire!!'s base to find 9 marines. Evire!!, realizing the futility of facing the zealot and zerglings head on, decides to retreat his marines into that lovely bunker that he made to protect himself from dmb!!'s first zealot. Evire!!'s marines jump into that comfy bunker, and begin firing at the opposing forces. Evire!! quickly pulls off several of his scv's from mining, and orders them to repair his bunker. And soon enough, zealots begin popping and zerglings begin splattering into a pool of blood, and Evire!! emerges victorious. dmb!! retreats back to his base with 3 zealots. Evire!!'s economy was relatively damaged, as only about 8 scvs survived.

During this attack, Evire!! and No_Religion also decided that they should attack an opponent. They choose Flyers!, since he was closer to their ling/marine forces, and since he was zerg. Zerg are more vulnerable to melee/marine forces than toss are. So 9 marines and 8 zerglings march to Flyers!'s base, to find about 8 zerglings. Remember, Flyers!'s remaining zerglings were currently dieing at Evire!!'s base. The Terran/zerg forces easily defeat the zerglings, and to my surprise, managed to raze his base. He did however, manage to sneak a drone out and plant a hatch at dmb!!'s natural. All of a sudden it was a 2v1, and dmb!! was in some serious trouble.
2v1's were supposed to be easy ...
Don't count out dmb!! though. He has certainly not been inactive during this time, and has continued teching towards the dreaded and extremely gay dark templar. Once 2 dts emerge from dmb!!'s gateways, he groups them with 7 zealots outside of Evire!!'s base, and attacks. He sends his dts in first, to scout and see if there are any vulnerable areas of Evire!!'s base to which dts could be used to their maximum gayness. And to his surprise and delight he finds about 10 marines, 2 firebats ... no detection? A very costly mistake by Evire!!. dmb!! then orders his dark templar to attack that pesky bunker of Evire!!'s, before it starts razing his scvs. Evire!! tries frantically to put up missle turrets, but the building scvs were quickly destroyed. A very pissed off Evire!! has no other options now than to lift off his buildings and hope that his partner, No_Religion, can win the game for them.

No_Religion realizes that a partner is a good thing to have in a 2v2, or 2v1, and attempts to save Evire!! by sending about 16 zerglings to help him. No_Religion obviously didn't think this through though, because zerglings do pretty horrendous vs dts and zealots even with overlord support, let alone without it. The obvious winner of this battle was dmb!!, and inspired by his victories, decides to march his battle worn troops to No_Religion's base. He also expands to the 3 o'clock spot.
dmb!! charges into No_Religion's natural with 6 zealots and 4 dts. No_Religion was obviously not prepared for this, and he had been powering like a whore. He had about 40 drones in his two bases, two evolution chambers, and 4 hatcheries. His troop count? 8 zerglings. The only explanation for this was that he after they had finished Flyers! base, he began powering and improving his econ, assuming that dmb!! would go on the defensive. Obviousley this was not the case, and it left No_Religion in a very bad situation. His few zerglings are quickly razed by the dts and zealots, and his hatchery at his natural is razed within moments. Seeing his partner in an exceedingly dire situation, Evire!! decides to give his partner a tip:
 Gee, you think?
No_Religion ignores Evire!!'s idiocy and finally switches to hydra production. However, his hydras and zerglings are few in number, and they fall quickly. No_Religion, not one to give up, resorts to a bum drone rush. After his last remaining drones and hydras die, No_Religion says gg and concedes.

Lessons Learned
- Toss is gay
- No_Religion drone whored too much
- Dts > zerglings
- You can put text in pictures
- I never thought an 11 minute game could be so filled with action
