Greetings. I have taken a break form writing BRs mainly because I commited to doing too many and got swamped (that and I was busy getting owned with addity-x in 2v2s against T_mac and Orcmaniac =[ ), but had the good luck of witnessing a great 2v2 yesterday. I would like to say I included no pics because I believe text based reports require more skill to be sucessful, but really my HTML skills leave a LOT to be desired. So, with out further ado…

How to fux an upgraded BB Game…

This all began with UpgradedKakaru advertising a 2v2 game against him and chobofux()r (Ghost~LiZarD). After some waiting around, BB-Chargon and GameOverZ both entered the game looking for a challenge. They were soon to be challenged and more as UpgradedKakaru started the game on temple and gls were given all around.

UpgradedKakaru AND chobofux()r

vs

BB-Chargon AND GameOverZ

The map lightens up to find UpgradedKakaru landing terran at 3:00 (chosen) and chobofux()r landing toss at 9:00 (also chosen), with BB-Chargon starting as toss (random) at 12:00 and GameOverZ spawning terran (chosen) at 6:00. I learned quickly through their build orders that this was going to come down to which team had the most skill, as all 4 players commenced similar, if not exactly the same, build orders. Both UpgradedKakaru and GameOverZ went depot, rax rax, dept, and the two toss players went pylon, double gate, then pylon. (Obviously there was some secret contest they were having to see who could have the most original build) Apparently these two teams had met before and an early double by UpgradedKakaru and chobofux()r had dominated that game, so both teams agreed to double someone early and try to finish the game quickly. All players began pumping infantry and zs in preparation for their assault, and amazingly enough I saw both teams msgs to commence their attacks appear at the same time. As troops left from every players base and headed towards the middle, it appeared we were ready for the first blood.

BB-Chargon and GameOverZ decide to hit Kak first, and BB-Chargon’s zealots arrive outside UpgradedKakaru’s natural to find a line of marines leaving his base. With the poor positioning of the marines, the zealots easily overwhelm them and along with some marines from GameOverZ charge into UpgradedKakaru’s main. chobofux()r, who was on his way to help the early rush, changes direction and sends the impressive two zealots he has to aid UpgradedKakaru while starting an assimilator. The zealots, some newly produced marines and some nice SCV micro by UpgradedKakaru fend off the invaders at the loss of some scvs and some mining time, but little else, as Kak brings a third barracks online.

After a short period of regrouping, chobofux()r decides to hit BB-Chargon with UpgradedKakaru lending support in the form of marines. BB-Chargon spots the invaders coming up his ramp and pulls his zealots back as cGameOverZ immediately sends help. BB-Chargon’s 6 zealots turn and attempt to fend off the combination of marines and zealots pouring into his main, at the same time buying time for a cannon to warp in behind his tightly packed buildings. The end result is that BB-Chargon loses his zealots with 4 of chobofux()r’s left as UpgradedKakaru turns at the top of the ramp to hold off cGameOverZ’s reinforcements. Here chobofux()r makes a large error in how he handled his troops. His 4 zealots charged into the peon line with the cannon still warping in. Because of the comp AI, the zealots recognized the warping cannon as the nearest threat and moved to attack it, as BB-Chargon attacks with all of his probes, getting in between the cannon and the zealots. Now I am guessing chobofux()r was back at his main microing because the probes managed to get a full 25 seconds of hits, as the zealots ran around desperately trying to get to the warping cannon. By the time it does warp, 1 zealot is dead and 1 hit is all it takes to finish the final two, as BB-Chargon is safe, for the moment.

With GameOverZ managing to clear BB-Chargon’s ramp of Kak’s forces despite having the low ground advantage, the game begins to move into the middle stages as new techs are brought forth. BB-Chargon begins researching of +1 weapons upgrade to prepare for the ground battle to comes, at the same time setting up a citadel of adun and a cannon by his choke to provide added defense and detection. UpgradedKakaru seems content to stay with early game units a bit longer, as he masses marines leading up to an academy for firebats and medics. GameOverZ puts down a factory and adds a bunker to his choke, aiming to get tanks to swing the tide of the battles thus far. chobofux()r himself has been very busy back at main with a templar archives and cannon warping at his ramp, he produces some DTs and along with UpgradedKakaru marines, moves out to hit BB-Chargon again. They plan to assault his ramp with marines and zealots while chobofux()r will attempt to sneak a DT past the cannon into his detectionless main. The attack fails miserably however, as zealots, goons and some Dark Templars of BB-Chargon hold his ramp with little losses. UpgradedKakaru adds an engineering bay at his main after scanning and seeing a templar archives at BB’s main, as all players again step back to regroup.

chobofux()r decides he needs to further his recourses to gain the advantage and expands to his natural with cannon support. GameOverZ starts producing tanks out of 2 factories. chobofux()r decides to test GameOverZ’s detection and manages to sneak a Dark templar past the turret at his choke, but is gunned down thanks to another turret well placed next to GameOverZ’s peon line. After seeing this little skirmish, both UpgradedKakaru and BB-Chargon expand to their naturals. Both toss players get detection in the form of observers and GameOverZ amasses a substantial marine and tank force. BB-Chargon decides to try to hurt UpgradedKakaru in the form of 2 DT dropped in his main from a shuttle. He ventures forward to find several turrets, but finds an area out of their range where the Dark Templars can begin to hammer on UpgradedKakaru’s factories. Kak sends his marines in, stims, then scans the area, where upon BB-Chargon runs his DTs away buying time for the scans effect to finish wearing off, then sends them back in. UpgradedKakaru retreats his marines, stims, scans and again sends them in, and once again BB-Chargon is on the ball, moving them out of harms way. Eventually, using 4 scans and substantial micro in where UpgradedKakaru placed his troops, flanking the Dark Templars, the threat is eliminated

At this point, GameOverZ, who had been extremely quiet up until now finally begins to make use of his mass of troops he had built up. He moves his force tanks, marines, scvs and drop ships to the ravine above his base and below chobofux()r’s. It seems he has decided to attempt a low ground push against the protoss, and as BB-Chargon takes his mineral only, GameOverZ begins the assault. He also attempts to take the bottom right island floating a command center there, when at the same time, UpgradedKakaru turbo newbies BB-Chargon’s natural. He drops off a force of SCVs and marines along with a tank, but BB-Chargon is quick to react, dropping off 2 zealots and 2 dark templar, taking care of the small force. Not to be discourage, UpgradedKakaru already has 3 more drop ships en route to the cliff, and after a quick scan, drops assorted goodies of marines, tanks and scvs, quickly fortifying it. BB-Chargon simply sends his probes from his natural to his mineral only natural, conceding the loss of his nexus there. BB-Chargon attempts to make up for the loss of his expansion by sending a probe to start a base on the top left island, but only has a few pylons and cannons warping in when chobofux()r drops off some DTs, quelling the expansion attempt.

At the same time, chobofux()r expands to his mineral only, and sends a huge force of assorted toss ground units to , GameOverZ’s main, sending a CC that was floating to the natural scurrying and drawing his forces which were engaged in the siege to withdraw, though he attempts to drop some infantry and tanks before pulling out with little success. At the same time, UpgradedKakaru amazingly enough attempts to take his mineral only, right outside BB-Chargon’s base! A passing goon spots it and soon UpgradedKakaru is under assault from both sides, and is soon falling to the combined protoss and terran forces, looking like he will be forced to concede his mineral only. At the last second however, chobofux()r sends in a massive force once again, thanks to the huge recourses he has from 2 expansions, and crushes the threat. At this point, GameOverZ has no expansions thanks to a drop by Kak on the bottom left island, and BB-Chargon is operating off his mineral only, things looking largely in favor of Kak and Chobo.

UpgradedKakaru decides the game has taken long enough, and tells his partner to assault BB-Chargon with all of their forces. Tanks, marines, dark templars, zealots and goons roll over BBs forces as in a final act of desperation, GameOverZ drops 4 dropships worth of marines and tanks but the force is easily crushed by newly made troops out of the 9 gateways chobofux()r has running. As the last of the combined forces roll over BB-Chargon, GameOverZ takes the opportunity to comment: "Sorry dude, I sucked a fat philly" as ggs are exchanged all around.

My only real analysis is the lack of GameOverZ expanding or doing anything useful with his troops made it difficult for BB-Chargon to establish any real offensive. Once the game hit the late stages, the better macroing ability and recourse advantage secured the win. GG to all involved, thanks for reading.
