Pre-Game Warm-Up:
I entered NoHunters and saw ~Keeper~JarL being real fresh with expostfacto. Expostfacto got a little pissed and asked if JarL wanted to take him on. JarL accepted. I decided this would be an excellent opportunity for me to write a Battle Report. I was clearly told that I should not make a Battle Report because this would not be much of game. I was also told that JarL would clean expost’s clock. I said I would be the judge of that. The game commences!

After waiting 785483726857567854 hours for expostfacto to join the game JarL had made we decided it would be best if I made because expost couldn’t get into JarL’s game. So I made on the PGL version of The Lost Temple. Finally, the game starts. Gotta love B.net.

expostfacto versus ~Keeper~JarL: PGL The Lost Temple

PGL The Lost Temple

~Keeper~JarL: Terran, Brown, 6:00
expostfacto: Protoss, Purple, 12:00

Let’s Play Ball!

JarL starts trash-talking no sooner than the game starts. I love this guy. He reminds me of Tarranau. Both players start out rather defensively. Expost starts by placing a pylon at his choke point and scouting out his opponent with the probe. JarL follows a similar build by constructing a supply depot and his choke point and then scouting his enemy. Expost follows up with a gateway, assimilator, and shield battery. JarL also constructs a barracks at his choke point and then starts working on a refinery.

As soon as expost has two zealots blocking his ramp he begins to warp in a cybernetics core followed closely by a pylon. JarL also chooses to tech up as he constructs a bunker at his choke point and then a factory inside of his base.

Expostfacto then erects a Citadel of Adun, presumably going down the Templar Tech Tree. My suspicions are confirmed as expost warps in a Templar Archives just as his Citadel is finished. Meanwhile, JarL has constructed an Engineering Bay and Academy and has a Comsat Station and 1 Missile Turret up just in case of Dark Templar.

Sure enough, expost begins to warp in some Templar - but not the ones from Aiur, the Dark ones from Shakuras. Expost then scouts his opponent with a zealot to see if his Dark Templar rush will work. Seeing the missile turret and blocked off choke he decides to contain JarL instead of attack, so he leaves the DT's at the bottom of JarL's ramp.

Feeling quite sure his opponent for while will make no attack for a while, expost expands to his natural. He also upgrades Dragoon Range and weapons and begins to warp in dragoons from 3 gateways. At the same time JarL begins to produce vultures and tanks, and starts on a starport and begins to make dropships.

Eventually, the two Dark Templar that are preventing JarL from taking his natural are killed with the help of spider mines and Comsat. A comsat scan reveals expost's new expansion. As soon as this is spotted JarL starts talking trash again. At about this time JarL expands to his natural and starts to go heavy tanks.

"You're going down"

Death of the Expansion

Shortly thereafter, JarL dropped a tank, scv, and 3 marines on top of expost's new natural expansion. The tank sieges and a bunker and turret are built. Expost waits patiently for his robotics facility to finish as his probes are killed one by one.

At last a shuttled is constructed and 4 zealots are dropped right between the tanks on the ledge and are able to kill the tanks, but are killed by bunker. 2 dragoons are then dropped out of range of the bunker and begin hammering it without taking any damage. Dragoon Range rocks. Because of this Expost was able to out-range the bunker and not take any damage.
Goon Range owns Bunkers

While this was going on, JarL expanded to the South East expansion at the same time Expost expanded to the 3:00 start location.

Expost now has gathered quite a large force of Dragoons accompanied by some High Templar with Psi Storm. JarL has gone heavy Tanks and also has a few Goliaths and Science Vessels. JarL sends his small force out to Exposts's 3:00 expansion just as Expost is sending out his force. The two armies clash in the middle and Psi Storm wins the day as JarL's forces are made to retreat.

Expost follows him in but his dragoons die to well-placed tanks and a few spider mines before much damage can be done.

Saved at Last

Expost's main is now depleted of all minerals so he Maynard Transfers all of his probes to his 3:00 expansion to further his income.

Expost is now concentrating on Dragoons, High Templar, and Corsairs with Disruption Web. JarL is mainly focused on Siege Tanks and Science Vessels.

Once again both forces have regrouped and have moved out and once again they clash in the middle. And yes, once again, Psi Storm is the deciding factor in this battle, and JarL is forced to retreat again.

Expostfacto has now discovered JarL's Southeast expansion and he drops two High Templar there and also a Dragoon. He morphs the High Temps into an Archon and these two units take down the expansion.

Impending Doom

JarL once again tries to take down expost's 3:00 expansion but he fails once again, running into a few storms and then later an Archon.

Expostfacto now has all of the Protoss tech buildings except for the Arbiter Tribunal. On the other hand, JarL has every Terran tech building.

Starving for more money, JarL builds a Command Center to fly to the 9:00 start location.

Expostfacto takes the Southeast expansion that JarL previously occupied since he already had a Dragoon and an Archon there. Expost has also rebuilt his force and added the dreaded Dweb to his arsenal.

Once again, expost will attack JarL's natural expansion. Dweb and Psi Storm's are cast and then the Dragoons are sent in to mop up the mess. This attack did kill JarL's natural expansion, and was barely held off.

JarL is now really craving minerals because his main is almost depleted. JarL immediately expands to his natural again and builds more tanks. He also gets his 9:00 expansion up and running.

Almost got him

Another 16 dragoons and an Archon are sent to JarL's natural and it is killed, but when Expost tried to force his way into JarL's main he was defeated and scampered home to lick his wounds.

JarL then performs a measly drop on Expost's main in a kind of last ditch effort. This fails though, due to multiple Psi Storms and Disruption Webs.

Expost decides he needs even more money and expands to the 3:00 natural, totaling his expansion count at 5.

The superior range of the Siege Tank blasts at an expansion

JarL then manages to drop Expost's Southeast expansion and kills some cannons with sieged tanks before the threat is vanquished by Dragoons.

7th Inning Stretch

Protoss Dragoons, Zealots, High Templar, and Corsairs gather outside of the Terran base preparing for a strike. Disruption Web is laid out and Psi Storm ripples. Now the Dragoons and Zealots charge in an Archon is being made out of the drained High Templar.

A great battle is fought and the result is two living dragoons, lots of dead siege tanks and Goliaths, and many healthy corsairs. The Dragoons then begin to target the machine shop add-ons, hoping to slow down the production of tanks. Two more tanks pop out before this is done, though, and expost's attack has been once again defeated, but not without heavy losses.

The valuable machine shops go down, stopping the production of tanks

El Fin!

JarL has now been left with only his 9:00 expansion and without many of his unit producing facilities. Expost, on the other hand, is doing just fine with 5 expansions.

Another 12 dragoons are on the way down to the half-destroyed Terran base, accompanied by 3 or 4 carriers. The remains are assimilated and expost claims the day.

JarL now begins to complain about the PvT imbalance and states that it wasn't fair that he got Terran. He was quickly reminded that he had indeed choosen to lead the Terrans into battle. He begs for a rematch without observers. I take this as an insult, because I do believe that he thinks that I was helping expost in the battle, but I did not say a word all game except "gl hf" and "gg".

Expost then hangs a right to JarL's expansion, cleans up everything there, and the game is won.

Good Game

Well, good game. I am glad that expostfacto won this game. Death to the Trash-Talker! =p
