"Last in line was Advisor "CB". His nickname was based on "Cattlebruiser", although none of the men were quite sure where the name had come from. Some infantrymen whispered that it came from a particularly bad night back home involving thirteen shots of whiskey, a herd of cattle, and a twenty-two year-old Animal Husbandry major. Others swore on the fact that a bloody cow's head was hung in his locker, a testament of what would happen to the men if they ever got out of line. Whatever the case, CB was fiercely competent."

- Me: Random (drew Zerg) lower-left

- Him: Random (we'll refer to him as "Newbie" from now on, for obvious reasons)

Da Start

I had created a game on Boxed In since I wanted a quick 1 on 1. A guy quickly came in (forgot his name) and he didn't have great stats... who well, someone who's first word is "go" must be good anywayz ;)

I chose Random and ended up as Zerg in the lower-left starting spot. I sent my Overlord to scout to the right in hopes of discovering my opponent's race and location.

I went with Pool on 9, then Extractor, OL, and a Sunken to protect my Pool. I didn't hatch any Zerglings yet; instead, I was rushing towards Hydras + Lurkers. As my OL loomed over the lower-right starting position, I discovered my enemy... Newbie was Protoss and was going for a strange Forge-first build. Hmmm. But he doesn't have Cannons at his main yet... Uh oh.

Static Defense Trouble!

Of course, he was trying to offensive cannon me in. Duh. As you can see I was making my Hydralisk Den, but without any Zerglings I couldn't delay his avance... I threw up a Sunken to halt him and started thinking how I could go around that mess.

Oh Yeah, Defilers

His Cannons inched toward my main base as I struggle to research Transport for my OLs. I also planned on teching to Defilers, just to show him how good my Zerg was. Hell, no one expects the damn things and they're better than Guardians at killing Cannons. So I hatched a batch of 12 Hydras just to protect my back (he tried to O Cannon my right side but I was ready) and climbed tech to a Hive, while pumping out 2 Queens.

Closer... closer...

Finally Transport finishes and I morph to Hive. I load up a Drone and send it to the raised expansion just north of my main. Meanwhile my Queens on scouting tell me he still has no forces at his base! I Parasite a Probe and leave when he starts Cannoning his main intensively. With an OL hiding above a ledge, I catch a glimpse of a Gateway, Cy Core and 2 Stargates... Carriers on the way, baby.

Hive finishes and I throw down a Defiler Mound. My Sunken is holding off the Probes trying to warp Cannons closer. My expansion is also starting to run, and the additional gas helps me research Consume for my Defilers. I morph two of them and 6 Zerglings (for food!).

Payback Time, You Bastard

I ready my 12 Hydras for some fancy Cannon destruction... here we go! 2 Dark Swarms cover the first Cannons and my 12 Hydras rape the front of his blockade with no losses.

Mwahaha

I retreat my forces to regenerate and eat more Zerglings. The 2 Dark Swarms vanish, only to be replaced by 2 others (this time, further down the road). And yes! The last cannon falls!

At last!

I proceed to his base, encountering nothing. I skirmish with 2 Dragoons once there, but my Defilers throw down some much needed Dark Swarms and his 2 Carriers are powerless!

Rampage through his main

He gave up shortly afterwards.

Lessons Learned:

- Man Defilers are powerful. I also researched Plague just in case for his Carriers... but they weren't a big factor.

- When you have someone Boxed In, expand! He didn't. That would have made it so much tougher for me.

- Did I mention Defilers are powerful? ;)
