The moment I heard a bunch of those cool X17 people talking about a 2v2 I thought to myself, "mmmmmm, muffins are gooooood." And with that I joined their game which was (lucky for me) an observer rendition of The Lost Temple. Since I was uninvited, I covered my ass and hoped not to be banned like a chobo. Surprisingly, the countdown started and I happily called out, "Yeeeeeee!" The game started with Yoshi commanding the Terran race from the 3 o'clock position on the Lost Temple. His partner in the war, YellowLab was Zerg at the 9 o'clock position. They would soon be fighting their hearts out against Xcaly's Zerg at 12 and Pennsylvania's Protoss at 6.
Pennsylvania started out wit a Triple Gateway Zealot strategy. He also scouts his opponents with a Probe. Xcaly places a Hatchery at his ramp then puts down a Spawning Pool then an Extractor for his tech to Mutalisks. Yoshi constructs a Supply Depot and 2 Barracks then a Depot and Bunker at his low ground choke. An expansion Command Center is constructed soon after. Lab shows his strategy for Hydralisks by morphing a Hatchery at his ramp, followed by a Spawning Pool, an Extractor a third Hatchery and a Hydralisk Den. Each player creating their respective supply structure when needed.
Xcaly makes the first move. A control group or so of Zerglings are sent to attack the Terran natural. The Zerglings kill several loitering Marines then concentrate fire on the Bunker. But the Zerglings are not enough, for SCVs came to repair, and soon the Zerglings were finished. Yoshi constructs a second Bunker and fills it with Marines. Another rush is now made on the Terran base. About 8 Zealots and ~18 Zerglings gather outside the encampment. Together, they rush in and start killing Marines. The SCVs which were recently transferred from Yoshi's main started to repair the damaged Bunkers. The SCVs came just a few seconds too late and one of the Bunkers exploded. The second one however, was quickly encircled in reparing SCVs. It was saved and the last of the intruders were destroyed.
Pennsylvania expands to his Natural with a defending force of Zealots. Each player now techs or builds up their unit(s) of choice. Yoshi constructs 3 Starports and 2 Armories for the mass production of Upgraded Wraiths. Pennsylvania masses Zealots and Dragoons from his soon to be 7 Gateways, while YellowLab starts two Evolution Chambers for double upgrades on his growing force of Hydralisks. Xcaly has built up a force of Mutalisks and Zerglings which are patrolling the map.
Xcaly attacks his rival Zerg's main base with Mutalisks. They are able to slaughter most of the Drones before reinforcement Hydralisks are able to shoo them off. Seeing if he can do more damage, Xcaly sends his Mutalisks to Yoshi's natural but is forced off by Turrets. Xcaly expands to his natural. Yoshi sets out for Xcaly's main with his hit squad of Wraiths. They killed 2 Mutalisks and continued their quest for blood, not bothering with the yellow Zerglings. The Wraiths cloak and are able to kill off the last of 3 slow-ass Overlords right when a group of Mutalisks and Scourge arrive. A Spore Colony is constructed and the Wraiths leave.
YellowLab, who had been building up his forces for several minutes dispatches 2 control groups of Hydralisks who are now 1/1 to do some damage to Xcaly.
The Hydralisks encounter a small force of Zealots and Dragoons on their way and kill them. When the Hydraliks arrive, they take down the defending Zerglings and a Sunken Colony at Xcaly's natural. But instead of cutting off his last source of income, YellowLab tries to force his way up Xcaly's ramp. They are met with new Zerglings and a group of Mutalisks which kills the cramped Hydralisks quite effectively by combined fire.
Meanwhile, new Wraiths assaulted the Cannon-Free Protoss Natural. All the Probes are busted up and the Wraiths start to nip away at the Nexus, but are shot out of the Sky when an Observer arrived. Pennsylvania expands to his Mineral natural and sends a large group of Zealots and Dragoons to mass outside of Yoshi's base. The ranged Dragoons take down the Bunkers without injury, then the Zealots march in and sweep up the Marines. But new Marines from the teal main Stim up and drive away the invaders. The Protoss regroup and try their luck again but are once more repelled, this time taking heavy losses.
Another wave of Hydraliks is produced and marches towards Xcaly's base. YellowLab finally expands to his natural while the Hydraliks are on the move. This time the Hydraliks avoid the deadly ramp and tear up Xcaly's natural instead. The Drones are lost and the Hatchery explodes in a pool of blood. The remaining Hydralisks regroup at the bottom of the ramp and wait for tank support.
On another front, Yoshi was pushing Pennsylvania farther and farther back into his base. The force of Tanks and Marines blow through the Protoss mineral natural and then through his last resource node and into the main base. Only small resistance is met as most of the Protoss warriors were killed in the last attack. Pennsylvania surrenders the game and soon leaves. Yoshi positions his tanks at Xcaly's natural and starts Comsatting to destroy the Sunkens. Wraiths join the fun and finish off the Colonies. YellowLab cleans up the last Zerg buildings and Xcaly is defeated.
