Well yesterday was the first(?) Tao-of-Gaming 2vs2 Tournament. I was sitting in the channel, talking to some cool people I knew, watching CrazyMonkey and HornyMonkey hump people's legs (especially Bob's he's very acttractive, you know), and generally trying to make witty comments about people's sexual preferences. The Tao-of-Gaming server overloaded (again) so everyone was grumbling around the channel waiting for them to fix it. Finally, the brackets were posted and :+:Maverick:+:, who I had been chatting with, invited me to ref his game =D. I joined the game and found SWEEDISH_POWER (Maverick's partner) already there. -=Shrike=- soon joined along with his partner n-der. Maverick was babbling non-sensically (spelling?) about Blink-182 while I was cussing Shrike off for saying I should leave.
Team Swede: Maverick and Sweedish_Power started in the top and bottom right positions on the map: Hunters. Shrike and N-der got the top middle and middle left start locations. This would put the team at a disadvantage, because the gayness of the people who made The Hunters didn't put gas at the mid left natural, and the top mid natural, (as well as some others). Maverick was Terran and built up to 3 Barracks Infantry. His partner, Sweedish_Power powered to 4 Gateways constantly producing Zealots. Shrike also went straight Zealots, but out of 3 Gateways. Shrike quickly started Gas mining and warped in his Cybernetics Core, but still pumped Zealots non-stop. N-der morphed his second Hatchery along with a Spawning Pool and started Zergling production.
Maverick and Sweedish_Power send their first units to rally at Shrike's choke. Sweedish has 5 Zealots and Maverick has 7 Marines on their way to the enemy Protoss' base. Shrike engages the enemy forces but quickly retreats to his main and calls for help. Once N-der's Zerglings arrive, the Zealots attack from the front. N-der's Zerglings easily destroy the Marines and finish the Zealots off together with Shrike's Zealots. Not to be detered by this early loss, Team Swede builds up again, and sends another attack force to Shrike. The short battle that ensues is ended once Zergling reinforcements again flank Team Swede's attack from behind. Sweedish_Power is able to retreat most of his Zealots, but they are badly injured and with Zerglings on their tail, cant stop running. N-der's Zerglings follow into the Protoss base but are exterminated by new Zealots and Vengeful Probes.
Shrike expands to the top left starting position and puts up a couple cannons to help defend it. N-der also, expands, taking his natural and defending it with his large group of Zerglings, and recently produced Hydralisks. Team Swede isn't letting up the pressure on Shrike. Another attack, this time consisting of Medirines and a large contingent of Zealots, starts towards
Shrike's base. Not knowing of their opponent's expansion, Maverick and Swedish_Power head towards purple's main base. With a quick call for help, Hydralisks show up and once again, Shrike and N-der successfully flank the hell out of Team Swede's attack.
N-der expands again, this time to the bottom left start position. Sweedish also expands. He starts a Nexus and cannons along with a couple Gateways at the mid left base. N-der gathers his large force of Hydralisks outside Maverick's base. They are soon joined by several purple Dark Templar, and rush in. Maverick's choke is well guarded by a horde of Infantry as well as a Bunker and 2 Turrets. The Hydralisks are mowed down but the Dark Templar have much more success. They rip apart the Bunker and 1 Turret. The Hydralisks kill the second Turret before dying. Shrike's DTs get free reign on Maverick's Marines, killing them all before reinforcements from his partner and a scan can kill them off.
Shrike spots Sweedish's expansion and sends a control group of Zealots and DT to run it over. And run it over they do. N-der positions his Hydralisks at the entrance to the base, to intercept any reinforcements. Sweedish_Power sends his Zealots and DT, but by the time they destroy the Hydralisks, the expansion is doomed. He leaves it for dead and tells his partner to attack the Zerg natural. Sweedish_Power sends all his Zealots to N-der, and meets up with Maverick's Medirines. After killing all his defending Hydralisks the Zealots are able to just barely reduce the Hatchery to a pool of blood before being cut down by Shrike's reinforcements. Maverick expands to his natural.
Both Maverick and Sweedish_Power seek to expand their bases further and take the 9 main and natural. But this is quickly found by scouts and erased by a horde of Zealots. Now, things really start to heat up. A large fight breaks out for control of the center. N-der has his Hydralisks moving in, while Shrike supports them with his contingent of Zealots. Sweedish_Power tries to break their map control with a Reaver and baiting tactics but only manages to kill a few Hydralisks and Zealots before the Reaver is blown apart and his Dragoons are liquified. Maverick also attacks. While the enemy forces are engaging Sweedish_Power, he sends a force of Medirines to the newly established bottom mid expansion. The Hatchery is destroyed, but Hydralisks end the lives of the Terran attack force.
Things are looking grim for Maverick. N-der and Shrike gather forces outside his base. N-der sends in his Hydralisks along with supporting Dragoons from one side of the choke while Shrike's speed Zealots engage the garrison from the other. Maverick's choke defense is run over, and his partner's attempts to help are ineffective. Although Maverick is able to deflect the first wave, a second soon comes and he is defeated and declares a gg before leaving. Sweedish_Power leaves soon after.
