| Zerg own Protoss? Hah! | | | Author: | | | IP: | 1Cust201XXXX | | Date: | 02/22/00 04:02 | | Game Type: | Starcraft | | Labels: | none | | Report Rating: , # of Ratings: 2, Max: 6, Min: 4 Lifetime Rating for {DD}Fatboy: 4.3571 | | This game started when I was having dinner. (surprised huh?) I got a call from a person named Jeremy. Asking if I could play, I quickly wofled down my frozen dinner and logged on to battle.net. We meet in the designated channel and the normal trash talk was on. When all the insults about how mutas own zealots were done, we created the game.
Now this game was reported on 6 hours of sleep and shitty computer, so bear with me. Also, this was a grudge match and I didn't expect to report this. This was such an awesome game though, (1hour and 45 minutes) that I just had to report it. To quote .Praetor, what i'm saying is, no pictures. (although my ratings aren't a 1/4 as good as his...) In the chat room, I stuck with my normal protoss while Jeremy (U_are_next was his screen name) chose zerg. With a cry of "Storm owns you!!" I started the game on the now found temple.
I spawned at 9:00, while jeremy spawned at 12:00. Hm... looks like i'll be in for an easy game... Because he was zerg, I decided on a quick jump to templars followed by a quick expansion. Basing my build order on this, this was my BO:
8:pylon
9:gateway
11:gateway, pylon
13:zealot, assimialator
14:forge
16:cyber core, continous pumping of zealots and probes.
When my first templar was done, I moved him, a probe, and five zealots to expand to my natrual. Warping in 2 cannons, I started on the nexus. Right as I did, some 20 zerglings came into my natrual before my cannons warped in. However, the sight of the templar probaly scared him into running away (storm had not yet finished, and if he had attacked at this point and kept reinforcing, I was probaly dead.) When my natrual finished, my army was growing consistantly larger. Feeling I was done with this part of the tech tree, I warped in a stargate. During this time, Jeremy attacked with a hydra/ling combo. A zealot and 2 storms later, Jeremy's army was instantly transformed into a pile of blood. Now fearing mutas, I started on corsair production.
When my first corsair was finished, I sent him on a scouting/overlord hunting mission. Upon arrival at the zerg infestion, my corsair started taking shots and overlords. Seeing a horde of hydras running torward it, i quickly retreated. I did manage to see a that he was going for air apparently. However, he seemed to have a lack of troops. Flying my corsair around the map, I discovered why. He had mass expanded to 3:00, his natrual and the 3:00 natrual. Grabing some units to attack, I sent them to the 3:00 natrual. On the way there however, I met his attacking force, consisting on pure hydras. (there was about 36.) Once again, I pulled out victouriously, although this time losing about half my attack force. When my units arrived at the zerg infestion, I managed killing all the drones and the hatchery before my units were overrun by cracklings.
Back at home, my stargate was busy making corsairs, and my gateways (now 8) were cranking zealots and templar. During this golden age, I also expanded to my mineral natrual. Jeremy had other plans in his tiny evil brain however, and sent a huge horde of hydras at my minreal natrual. (around 60 hydras) I had to abandon it and run to the safety of my templars on the cliff. When the hydras approached, they were shocked into obllivion. After muttering a few curse words, jeremy said storm was unfair started raging about how 1.08 should change that. I agree with him, but at this point, storm was my best friend. Wave after wave of hydras poured into my base, but stormed beat them back each time. Finally, Jeremy got smart and switched to cracklings and guadians. I was not prepared for this (I only had 6 corsairs) and when the guardians came, my corsairs was scourged to death and I ended up using up my storm to kill the guardians. Right when my templars were drained out, a swarm of crackling rushed in. My zealots and cannons proved to be enough, but all I had left was a burning cannon.
Sensing another guardian attack, I hastily threw up 2 more stargates and pumped corsairs. Sure enough, when the next guardian/scourge force came, i raped them. Unfortunetly, the cracklings were unfazed by my corsairs's cattle prods. Running into my main, I managed to hold them off. However, wave after wave were pouring into my main, and slowly but surely I was losing my main. Panicing, I expanded simoultaneously to bottom right and top left. And not a moment too soon. As soon as the cannons finished warping in at my expansions, the final swarm of crackling overcame my main. Rebuilding all my tech in bottom right, I prayed that he would attack top left first. At this point, I was informed of how much I suck and that he was low on money. Gritting my teeth, I deciding on using carriers to reclaim some expansions.
Soon, guardians began pounding on my top left expansion. I had no choice but to send my corsairs out, only to be greeted by devourers. We played a little game when I would get one shot off, than retreat in to the cannons. The devoureres would follow, and get pummled by the cannons. Eventully though, I came out ahead, with 4 beat-up crippled corsairs. Unfortunetly, a 24 hydras drop soon came. He took down the expansion, but at a terrible price. 14 probes and a templar managed to take down abour 20 hydras. Back at my bottom right corner, I had started carrier production as well as gay web. Countinous hydra and guardian attacks were beat back by my corsairs and templars. I kept my carrier fleet out of a sight until I had 6. Than, looking for a target, I noticed a budding expansion at the 6:00 natrual. Squealing with glee, I snet my carriers and corsairs to kill it. Right after the virtulessly defenseless expansion fell, a shitload of scourge came and killed 4 carriers. Retreating them back to my island, I shuttled in a probe and started a cannon/battery network. Flying my carrier fleet (now numbering 4) to the 3:00 natrual (which Jeremy had retook) I quickly demolished it. When Jeremy found my 6:00 natrual, he uttered a few curse words of choice, called me a lucky bastard, and left. Of course I couldn't let him go that easily, so I called him up and verbal abused him about the game :)
Lessons Learned:
1. Storm owns zerg!!! Jeremy had brought a couple queens into play, but keeping my templar in shuttles proved to be worth it.
2. Even if an opponent has lost a main, he can still come back and bite you in the ass. If Jeremy had taken all the expansions, he would've killed me eventully.
3. You need to control your hydras better jeremy,. If you had danced them during the psi storm fights, you would've killed a lot more units.
4. Never EVER give up!
