My overlord scouts throughout the sector had informed me of the location of the
newly-rediscovered Lost Temple, lying on an abandoned protoss colony world.. the location
was reported to be very rich in mineral fields and vespene gas, so I decided to expand
my territory to this resource-rich world..
Myself and the overlord carrying me landed on the middle-left plateau, which i had
mapped on the descent to the temple grounds.. my scouts had also informed me of two other
forces vying for control of the Temple.. a protoss executor under the name of electro, and
another nameless (forgotten) protoss executor.
After doing an extractor/drone/cancel, i sent a drone to my natural expansion to
allow myself greater amounts of gas and minerals.. I again did an extractor trick, and
then began a spawning pool, after which i did another extractor trick, and finally began
morphing an overlord.
After i had secured a base there and put up a solid defense of sunken colonies,
my hatchery at my main hive cluster began to morph into a lair around me.. i had scouted
out the bottom middle plateau with an overlord and found nothing, so i knew where my
foes were. When my overlords were graces with pneaumatic carapaces, i sent one gliding
over to the natural expansion of middle right, finding the brown tribal colors of the
nameless protoss executor, just setting up an expansion. I parked the overlord over the
high ground behind the mineral field and left it there to observe. Meanwhile, i had sent
another overlord to top-middle and found a ring of warping photon cannons just arriving..
i retreated the overlord before it could be hurt.
I noticed at brown's expansion that he had no cannons guarding his minerals, but
plenty at its chokepoint, so i sent 9 mutalisks to attack his probes.. i successfully killed
off many before interceptors began to rip at my mutalisks' carapaces.. i retreated them,
and began to worry as i had little to deal with a carrier threat.
I began to mutate my spire to a greater spire while morphing scourges from my
hatcheries and hive.. besides my hive and expansion-hatchery, i had 2 other hatcheries
at my main hive cluster..
I brought an overlord down to bottom middle containing a drone, and began to
construct a hatchery there.. meanwhile in bottom middle's natural expansion i found a nexus
of electro's defenseless, so i attacked it with adrenalings and tore it apart.
Now, near electro's main base, i morphed 6 guardians, leaving 6 mutalisks as air
support.. i then attacked his base with the guardians, finding he had _many_ dragoons..
the guardians managed to kill off at least half, but as i diverted my attention to other
matters, the singularity charges managed to kill off the mutalisks and all but 2 guardians,
so i retreated.
My overlord by brown's natural expansion now screamed before it was shredded by
interceptor fire.. I hissed as i saw at least 16 carriers departing his main base.. a
nearby queen of mine ensnared them as i sent scourge to deal with them.. however i was
unfamiliar with the use of scourge against carriers, and found that many dove at
interceptors before i realized what had happened. The queen was killed, and he moved to
the island at bottom right.
I now began constructing hydralisks en masse from my many hatcheries.. I expanded
to bottom right's natural as well, guarding the position with mutalisks, scourge, and
hydralisks.
It was only too soon before the mighty carriers began launching interceptors..
Despite my efforts, while my forces did some damage, the carriers destroyed my bottom
expansions, and then began attacking my main hive cluster.
Now, though, they were weakened, and fell easy to hydralisks w/dark swarm and
scourge. I continued hydralisk production while I took an overlord and drone to the
island at top left, and expanded.
Suddenly, I received a transmission from electro, the white protoss executor.
"help"
I knew that brown's carriers were by far the biggest threat, so i sent 3 groups of
scourge, knowing that the carriers would be distracted by electro's forces enough that
the scourge could kill off most of the carriers.
Meanwhile, I loaded up 4 overlords with adrenalings and brought them with the
scourge to the top right corner of the map.. again electro said 'help', so I dropped
the zerglings at his surprisingly undefended back door and began ripping his base from the
inside out.. all the carriers came back to assist, and i scourged them on their way,
taking out at least 6. As the zerglings destroyed 2 stargates, the cybernetics core,
the nexus, forge, and numerous pylons, they were killed by cannons and some scouts.
I had expanded to bottom again, but this time was ready.. but no attack came.
I found bottom right's island heavily fortified with cannons, but decided against using
guardians to siege it in fear of carriers.
So i kept morphing hydralisks.. 5 control groups full, all waiting at all of my
expansions (except upper left island) with defiler escorts, as well as scourge.. eventually
it paid off, and 24 carriers began ripping at my bottom natural expansion.. I swarmed my
hydralisks there, plagued the carriers, consumed 2 hydralisks, and swarmed a greater area.
After many losses, he retreated his carriers.. I still had taken many losses, as
in most of the expansion (hatchery) as well as many hydralisks who weren't lucky enough to
be inside the dark swarm. My defiler had also been killed, mysteriously.
I had a zerglings burrowed near a mineral field under electro's base, and found
gateways mass-producing 1/0/1 dragoons.. although there was a lot of them, i wasn't
concerned because of the lack of upgrading.. i had 3/3 in ground and air for a long, long
time, and brown had 3/3/3 in air.
Suddenly, the carriers returned in full force.. my expansion fell, and a shuttle
dropped off probes to begin an expansion for him there.. I evacuated my bottom middle
expansion through a nydus canal and sent the drones to work at the island in top left.
When the carriers began sieging the bottom middle, i managed to plague them before
the defiler was killed.. i now awaited at my main base with 3 groups of burrowed hydralisks,
1 group of scourge, and 6 defilers.
Alas, he came, and dark swarms sprung up.. a queen ensnared the carriers, and
hydralisks began to beat them down.. already plagued, they dropped like flies..
2 retreated, but were dropped by scourge.
The protoss executor then accused me of cheating.. i told him to go to bed.. lousy
9 year old punk.. =)
I attacked his bottom expansion with hydralisks escorted by 3 defilers, as i
knew there would be cannons. I swarmed my hydras and attacked, killing off all the cannons
without severe losses. I saw an arbiter, and massive shimmers before interceptors flew
out, so i plagued the shimmers and revealed 8 carriers, which were promptly eliminated..
however the arbiter managed to stasis a large amount of my force, twice.
Now, the brown commander abruptly left the Temple grounds, unexplainedly.. perhaps
he knew that his great fleets could not help him against my broods.. (he disconnected.. =) )
I now focused on electro, who had a maddeningly large amount of dragoons
accumulated. I unburrowed my 3 control groups of adrenalings and brought a defiler near
them.. i swarmed the dragoons twice, consumed 4 zerlings, and swarmed twice again.. I then
just let the zerglings eat.. all the dragoons had died, and i managed to destroy the
mineral-only expansion with zerglings.
Unexpectedly, a huge train of dragoons started making it for my natural hive cluster
expansion.. My zerglings began to attack, but the dragoons did not attack back.. i realized
the executor had foolishly told them to move.. by the time he realized, the dragoons were
vanquished.
I sent my 3 groups of hydralisks, 2 groups of zerglings, and 1 group of mutalisks
at his main base, knowing there would be little there after the carrier siege.. there
was less then i expected, and my swarms irradicated all trace of him from the temple
grounds.
I laughed menacingly.. the Lost Temple was now mine, and all its riches with it..
I now had another world in which my swarm could traverse.. however, another world did not
content me, as there are always others.. i began to set my eye on the volcanic world of
Ashrigo, the ancient battlegrounds of the Killing Fields, and the space platform of
Polaris Prime..
All of these would be mine.
lessons learned:
1: defilers slam.
2: people who go for all carriers generally suck.
3: adrenalings can really rip up dragoons.
4: objects in mirror are closer then they appear.
