This is my first BR and I hope you enjoy it. Sorry for the lack of pics, cuz I don't know HTML, but I may learn from my friend.
In this game- 102485=Red
Vegeta-scm=Yellow
Godfather-scm=Blue
DonZealot-scm=Brown
Introduction: In this game I(102485) was zerg, Vegeta was toss, Godfather was zerg, and zealot was terran. From the races you can already tell that this would be a well matched game.
Before the game we agreed upon a "no rush" policy.:(
This sucked, because I usually try for a cheap ling rush.;)
Opening: The game started and I immediatly went for minerals while my ally, vegeta, scouted with a probe. It was a BGH map, so the scouting didn't last long. Soon we found the enemy and noticed that gf was going for a guardian and scourge mass(the scourges providing air support for the vulnerable guardians). We never found out the terran's plan though because his choke was already guarded by two bunkers.
Meanwhile I was playing very lax. Every once in a while I would build a few hydras of something. Later on, though I
recieved a jolt that really got my attention. My ally, however, had been very busy. He had 8 Stargates and 12 carriers. At least someone was doing their job.
The enemy tried to assaults Vegeta's base, but to no avail. He had covered his choke with cannons and no intention of the enemy getting into his base. When Godfather tried to attack with his flying units, they were just vaped bye the carriers. However Vegeta did lose several due to the scourges.
The Wake-Up Call: During one of Zealot's sad attacks against my allies' base I heard that frightening message:
"Your base is under attack!!!"
My first base was quickly demolished by the enemy forces, for they had both teamed against it. My sad d consisted of 9 hydras, 5 mutas, 2 guardians, and 4 sunken colonies. :(
My ally came to my rescue, but it was too late for my first base. Luckily I had a couple expansions. That is when I finally got my act together. I started churning out hydras like there was no tomorrow. When I had about 35 and my parter had built back his force of 21 carriers we decided it was time to attack.
The Fall of Zealot: My ally decided to attack Zealot's base. He resisted sadly, and was quickly swamped by the onslaught of interceptors. 1 down, 1 to go!
The Attack: My hydras took the brunt of Godfather's d(8 sunken colonies!), while Vegeta's carriers were still on their way. At first my Hydras exploded like overripe watermelons at the wrath of the sunkens, but once they formed their distinctive half circle of destrucion the sunkens were goners.
The Counterstrike: By this time m ally's carriers had arrived to aid in th attack. All of a sudden about 45 scourges appeared, destruction to the carriers! Then my hydras opened fire. The scourges were vaporized as if a massive irradiate of death had been attached to all of them! The doorway to Zealot's base was now open!
The Return of Zealot: As we reigned destrucion upon godfather's base a new threat emerged. Zealot had survived!!! We had forgotton to look for the important words "DonZealot has left the game". 12 Carriers came to rain on our parade. We were very afraid that this attack may weaken us enough that both their d's could take us down. As the carriers clashed , though I realized that it was a won battle. The enemy carriers' interceptors were dead at the hands(or spines!) of my hydras.
Victory!: Apparently our opponents realized the inevitable outcome and left. This game proves the all-out effectiveness of carriers and hydras in 2 on 2 melees. I highly suggest that you try this strategy in your future games.
Next time my report will be more thourough in the area concerning scouting and expansions.
