| Chaos in the Lowlands ( Nifty name huh? ) | | | Author: | | | IP: | p53-max8XXXX | | Date: | 04/29/00 12:04 | | Game Type: | Other | | Labels: | none | | Report Rating: , # of Ratings: 1, Max: 3, Min: 3 Lifetime Rating for Chaos: 3.0000 | | This is a sort of BR. Sort of.... Its one set in the LoG universe. Im kindaaa new at this *writing* thing so be kind:). Also !yes! I am young. Infact Im in the first year of being a teenager. Bleh to you and lets get this started.
Setting: Forest land and Plains surrounded by a Mountain Range ( Shadow Mountains ) and with a wide river flowing RIGHT through the entire map with only one bridge across (The most strategically valuable site, if owned almost guarantees victory). The Humans with the 9 oclock position. The Orc/Lizard Alliance at the 3 oclock position.
Starting Forces: (Note: This game requires some MEGA microing as you receive reinforcements only twice and they are very limited.)
Humans (Me): 2000 Infantry, 500 Light Cavalry, 200 Heavy Cavalry, 5 Catapults, 400 Long Bowmen, 2x50 Platoons of The Royal Guard (Like Archon in SC compared to Zealots, is what the Royal Guard are to the infantry)
Orc/Lizard Alliance (Enemy): 4000 Grunts, 1000 Tridents, 300 Oji Riders (Cavalry), 100 Borkas (Lizards big brother), 2 Armored Vehicles (Primitive), 300 Boulder Hurlers (Missile attack units), 20 Battle Bosses (Super powerful infantry), 6 War Bows (Like ballistas)
Reinforcements for each side: Twice
Mission Objective: Destroy Opponent
Begining:
I *warped* in at the 9oclock position and my Enemy (Friend in real life) *warped* in at the 3oclock position. After some very vulgar warnings to each other we decided to get started. I looked over my force and saw opprotunity for a fast, mobile force. I quickly decided that I would take the bridge and fight him in an offensive battle instead of the usual long brawls which scar the lovely landscape. I was dismayed by the number of his forces. He had at least 6000 Infantry! My own numbered a mere 2000. Never mind, I thought, I'd make up for it by inflicting some badass damage and rape his forces while he gathered his wits.
The first turn was very important. I immediately sent my entire Light Cavalry force charging at the bridge, followed by the Heavy Cavalry. If I got to it first he could do very little about it. I rolled my lucky dice and got a 6. I was extatic cause its a 1d6 dice roll, 6 being the best number I could get.
He proceeded to call me a cheat while I moved my cavalry figurines forward.
He saw what I was trying to do and took the dice from me to roll. I didnt know what he was going to do but I decided to proceed with my strat. To my utter horror he sent his Oji Riders forward with the intent to stall my forces. (If this succeded I would lose the edge and he would have enough time to gather his forces and assault me. BTW he got a 3 (luckily) which meant he didnt move too far forward.
Second Turn" (This format will be used from now on)
Me: I took the dice, rolled and got an AWESOME FIVE! With an utter of the word shit, my Enemy could only watch as my Cavalry forces reached the bridge. 1 more turn and they would cross. meanwhile my entire Infantry marched onwards. About 1/2 way to the bridge now. Behind them, straggled my Royal Guard, Long Bowmen and Catapults.
Enemy: Seeing my actions, Enemy stopped his Oji Riders. (Only 300 so if he kept going they woulda gotten slaughtered by my Cavalry) He rolled the dice and got a respectable 5, which he used to move his ENTIRE Grunt, Trident, Borka, Battle Boss and Boulder Hurler army forward. They got to about a 1/3 way from the bridge. This would be interesting....
Third Turn"
Me: I eyed his forces and shakily picked up the dice. I let them roll and got a.... ANOTHER SIX!! YEAH!! Lady Luck loves me :)what can I say? So I moved my Cavalry to the other side of the bridge and established a beach head in his territory. I spread them out a bit and created a semi circular ring guarding the bridge. With the rest of my movement points I moved my Infantry forces further forward and got them to near the bridge enough to cross it on the next turn. I made a major mistake, cause I left the entirety of my other forces to straggle even farther behind. I only had Infantry and Cavalry near the bridge. The rest were farther back only about 1/2 way there.
Enemy: Apparently, Enemy noticed my mistake, rolled the dice and got a 4. He used all of the movement points to group his forces within next turns striking distance from mine. With a smile he handed me the dice back. (I was pissed, this meant he thought I had no chance)
Fourth Turn"
Me: I had to make a stand so I rolled the dice and got a stinky little 3. I moved my Infantry across the bridge and with the remaining movement point reorganized my defense with Infantry at the front and Light Cavalry on flanks with the Heavy Cavalry at the back. I stopped the rest of my army, still way back across the bridge and started preparing for a defensve guerilla war if my forces guarding the other side of the bridge were massacred.
Enemy: Seeing the fear in my eyes, Enemy knew I thought it was pretty hopeless too. So he took the deice, rolled, and received a 2 (Bleh :P hehehe :)). It was still enough though and the word that sent shivers down my spine was uttered. 'Get the 1d10, cause now you die'. What an asshole huh? Well anyways I got the damned dice and told him to nicely eat shit as he picked it up and rolled. He got a 6 and gave me a middle finger salute. And that was the moment he made the mistake which potentially evened things out. Instead of being a smart boy and raining down upon me with War Bows and Boulder Hurlers, he felt too cocky and started marching his Infantry forces forward. All 6000 of them. + The Borkas, + the Battle Bosses, + the 2 Armored Vehicles (Easily stomred by Infantry).
Fifth Turn"
Me: So the battle was on. I picked up the 1d10 and rolled, getting an 8. :)! I smiled at him and he said, "What are you smiling at? Youre the one whos gonna get his sorry ass kicked. "
I picked up my flanking Light Cavalry figurines and moved them up to the sides of his oncoming forces. I then used the rest of my movement points to start my Infantry on a forward march and to divide my Heavy Cavalry so they can attack upon the flanks as well.
Results: (This is the stage after both sides have set the stage for the battle and now it commences with both people rolling 3d20's)
I started laughing when my end result was an INCREDIBLE 43. I jumped with joy as he rolled a small 18. I thanked God when the results were calculated (A time expensive ordeal). My forces, as calculated, assaulted his on rushing Horde on the flanks hitting them where it most hurt. A total lack of order in his forces only added to the hurt he was feeling. Still it didnt stop him from reaching my Infantry where the two forces clashed in fury. (Exhegerrated ofcourse). The battle took a turn for the better when my Heavy Cavalry hit him hard on the flanks allready getting smashed by my LC. I was performing a very well executed circling manuevre (Spelling error?), and was effectively pushing his force inwards. Still the losses were immense as the Borkas and Battle Bosses crushed my Infantry underfoot and my Cavalry was slowly getting pushed back. The tide turned many times but the end result was inevitable. My army was pushed across the bridge and my Cavalry was getting slaughtered without support. He cut me in half!!! I rallied (special command) my forces JUST across the bridge where I knew his zealous warriors would follow. BTW the Cavalry still over the bridge was retreating up North and down South to occupy some of his Horde and to get them away from the main battle. Mean while across the bridge the remnants of my Infantry fough a furious battle with an incredibly strong enemy. (BTW throughout all this we could still move our other forces. These arent moving turns though these turns are battle turns)
And then suddenly a trumpet was heard. And a giant boulder smashed into the middle of the enemy ranks killing scores. This could only mean one thing, the rest of my forces have arrived!!!
This battle lasts for 3 hours. Now unless youre interested Im not gonna bother writing up what happens next. So give me some feedback. |
