ZERG vs PROTOSS
THE LOST TEMPLE
OK guys, this is my first battlereport. However, I'm not going to whine and everything, and beg for a 10. If I deserve it, fine, if I don't, diss me all ya want!
First of all, I live out in Saudi Arabia. That means no battle.net!!! :( However, we over here have accustomed ourselves to creating modem tournaments... Enjoy!
PS: No, our StarCraft is the same as yours: THE MARINES DO NOT SPEAK ARABIC... :)
Well, it's a basic match of Zerg played by me, Raptor, and Protoss, played by Dodo. Since we have no observers during this match, I'm telling it as I know it. My build order was the following:
1- Cranking Drones until 9/9
2- 2nd Hatchery at natural expansion
3- Overlord and another Drone
4- Spawning Pool, more Drones
5- 3 Creep Colonies under ramp
6- Hydra Den
7- Another Hatchery at main...
Dodo, on the other hand, decided to power up 3 gateways with a decent economy. I was able to locate his base with my original Overlord. He then sent a probe to find me, and glanced at my natural expansion before being destroyed.
However, he still believed that he had enough to toast me. He sent about 15 Zealots straight at me. However, I spotted his probe, and realized that he'd probably send an attack. I immediately created Hydras and Zerglings from my 3 Hatcheries, and by the time he showed up, I had a considerable force, not to mention a great economy.
His Zealots fought valiantly, but not good enough. They were able to slice up a dozen Zerglings and a Sunken Colony before perishing in a swirling release of psionic energy.
I immediately decided to retaliate. Since I had 3 Hatcheries, I slammed out some reinforcements of Hydras and Zerglings to retaliate. This swarm was immediately sent straight for his main. There, it was intercepted by a small contingent of Dragoons and Zealots, who were suppossed to escort a few probes and create a new expansion... Too bad!
I immediately surged into Dodo's base, where I found his natural expansion well defended with Photon Cannons. At this point, I realized how fortunate I was not to go for Mutalisks, for that would surely have been a disaster. My Hydras were able to handle it though, and then they slithered right into Dodo's main.
A few Zealots, Dragoons, and Photon Cannons provided some resistance. However, I was pumping more Hydras the whole time, and so my army was more than a match for him. During the desperate skirmishes by Dodo, I realized that he had a Templar archives!!! He was obviously stalling for time until he got the deadly High Templar!
I slammed my Hydras in an attempt to locate any Templars that he may have had. I noticed that he had pumped out 3 of them, and would obviously fry me with psi storm once he researched it. But I didn't give him the chance. The Hydras immediately began impaling them with their needle-spines. In a futile attempt, Dodo took two of his Templar to the back of his base and began making an Archon... The Hydras swept in and destroyed it, and at this point Dodo realized that it was all over, and he conceded.
WINNER: Raptor
Lessons Learned-
1-Don't make Templar until you research Psi Storm!
2-Early expansions by the Zerg are lethal if not prevented.
3-Zerg can slam out a ton of guys in seconds, so beware!
4-Hydralisks RULE!!!
5-Don't attack if it doesn't look good... Dodo should not have attacked when he saw those 3 Sunken Colonies. Instead, he should have contained.
6- Don't write a Battlereport on a modem game! :)
