I joined the first non-hunter map on the list and was the 4th person on a 2v2 in the map Rivalry.

Obst : purple Protoss(chosen) top left
Mistry3 : yellow Zerg(random) bottom left

gonnagetchya : orange Protoss(random) top right
Bob_the_Newt : brown Zerg(chosen) bottom right

As the game started out I decided to do a 10/9 hatch at the center right expansion, within easy reach of myself and gonnagetchya (from now on called ggy). I was somewhat worried because in the chat ggy said a few things about how we're gonna kill them, and I've never before won i game with a trash-talking partner(most of them suck real bad).

My overlord scouts to bottom left, meeting yellow's overlord half way. By the time mine reaches Mistry3's base I see a morphing hydra den and leave asap. I was somewhat late on gas and didnt start a hydra den until the yellow overlord had made himself at home over my drones. Orange sent a probe down to the bottom center expansion and started a pylon, looking back at his base I saw a forge and gateway. As soon as the pylon finished he warped in 2 cannons and another gateway, shortly followed by a battery (this relieved me, newbies don't use batteries until they get carriers, if ever).

When my den completed I morphed a hydra, causing the yellow overlord to flee, but it was killed in the nick of time, and ggy's blockade was still unnoticed. For a short while our troops made no contact, and I started my lair, thinking mainly of overlords upgrades for my hydra drop. Obst and Mistry3 now sent attack forces to my main, consisting of 12 hydras,3 zeals, and 6 goons. Ggy's cannon wall (now 5 cannons, with zealot and zergling support) stopped them in their tracks, in the short battle yellow lost all of his hydras, and purple lost 2 zealots before retreating.

During the attack ggy expanded to his mineral only expan, and mine (how rude!). Yellow started harassing buildings at the blockade with lurkers out of the cannons range, and had at least 5 burrowed in the bridge, making attack with melee units impossible. I threw up a queens nest to broodling the burrowed menaces, and 2 evolution chambers. With most of my forces warding off the lurkers, Obst attacked towards my main with 15+ goons and 2 templar through the unblocked path. Ggy lost the expan there, but i was able to put down the attack using high ground and a few broodlings.

Feeling bad about being on the defensive the whole time, I loaded up 3 overlords and sent them to yellow to see what I could do. His base had no defense in the back, and I was able to take down a spire, hydra den, and spawning pool before lings and hydras keep to the rescue. Score! Going back to base affairs, I saw that I had 1000 gas in the bank, and thought it good to switch to air. During all this my ally was having similar skirmishes with the protoss.

Now I have 8 mutes, and enough money to support pumping them form all my hatches. Thinking how well my last drop worked, I loaded all my remaining hydras and sent them and 2 queens to yellow's base. As I arrive there is a hive mutating, so I have all the hydras attack it, ignoring defenses. I broodling 2 temps sent by Obst, but not before one of them gets a psi storm off, killing some hydras. My last hydra is killed and the hive is at 10 hp! ARG! Yellow's hydras arrive and kill off the overlords and a queen, the other queen is trapped in the back.

My mutes are getting bored, so I send them to harass yellow some more. They fly past the defenses, kill a lone hydra, and head for the mineral line. After killing 4 drones 3 enemy mutes arrive, and I kill them without loss (thanks shift-que!). But now the hydras come, and 8 mutes are no match for 24 hydras, so I make my getaway. Pretty good, in my opinion. They search for a bit and find an undefended Obst expansion, and I think you can take it from there.

Obst attacks ggy's natural with 2 reavers supported by goons and temps. I send my mutes and queens there, broodling the 3 temps, and have the mutes kill the reavers in the confusion. With their prize reavers gone, the squad retreats. Ggy now starts pushing into the center top expansion with goons and dts, currently owned by yellow and defended by Obst. My other 4 broodling ready queens help out, and once 12 homebaked mutes arrive, its done for.

We immediately attack Obst's main, and after losing all his dragoons, he concedes with a gg. I begin morphing guardians to clean up yellow, but he leaves without saying a word soon there after. GG for all involved, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.

Lessons Learned

- When someone has a blockade, just go around it. I think they were afraid that we were going to creep into yellow's natural with cannons though, and that can be dangerous.

- Having someone who knows the basics of teamwork as a partner is great. We always helped each other out without needing to call for help, and that saves a lot of time. Except for when ggy got attcked by reavers, but reavers just make you scream.

ok thats it. I got screenshots this time, I hope they come out.

Battle Shots!

Obst's goons on a rampage.

Goons prove once again that they suck on bridges.

Poor ol' queen.

A defenseless expansion - aka - Mutaliask Heaven

Obst's and gonnagetchya's goons duke it out for the last time.
