I was quietly watching the inhabitants of NoHunters spam and argue, when an idea struck me! Why not try a battlereport!!!!! So I asked for anyone who wants to be in a FFA Observer map to come to channel nealious, 3 Peope showed up. We started the game at once, me nervously twitching as I realized this would be the BR of my life.
THE PLAYERS:
9’o Clock- Purple- BetterThanU- Randomed Zerg
6’o Clock- Yellow- Genki- Chosen Zerg
3’o Clock- Blue- Powerman5000- Randomed Zerg
Basically, the game started out as follows:
Genki went 2nd Hatchery at Natural, 3rd Hatchery at Main, Spawning Pool, and produced lings from all available hatcheries.
Powerman5000 went 2nd hatchery at natuaral, gas, Spawning Pool, and then 3rd Hatchery at Main. He decided to get a Lair and a Hydarlisk Den.
BetterThenU went 2nd Hatchery at Main, 3rd Hatchery at Natuaral, got his expansions running while he got gas and a pool.
FIRST BLOOD
As you know Geki’s zerglings were getting restless and he decided to assault BetterThanU. Many a drone valiantly gave its life to stop the zerglings. They ran straight through the natural, which had no defense. Once done, he charged up the ramp and assaulted morphing creep colonies. Finally, the 30+ lings were fended of by BetterThanU’s own zerglings (with about 20 drones) and newly morphed sunkens. Perhaps the reason BetterThanU was saved was because Genki did not notice a metamorphing blob on the side of his hatchery. YES, IT WAS A SPIRE! And yes, it was at 450/600. If Genki had followed up he would have been victorious, but instead decided to try his luck with Powerman, buying BetterThanU precious time.
Powerman had his ramp defended with about 15 some hydras, as well as newly morphed lurkers. None of Genki’s lings made it out alive, while Powerman lost around 10 hydras. Genki new both players wanted revenge and defended his natuarals entrance with 6 sunkens, 20+ 1-1-1 lings, with speed upgrades, as well as some hydras.
At this time. Powerman5000 killed one of Genki’s overlords sitting at the 12’0 clock main. Soon, Powerman sent more hydras and a drone to start a hatchery there. Genki, immediately suspecting the threat, charged in with a lot o lings, and cleared it out. BetterthanU attempted to expand to the natuaral there soon afterwards, but Genki stopped this attempt as well with lings slaughtering the naked hatchery.
Looking at BetterThanU’s base, he had rebuilt his expansion and was guarding it with some 5 sunkens. A brief pause occurred, when BetterThanU’s hive completed, Genki made some mutas and expanded to his mineral only, and Powerman was making Lurkers+Hydras. Soon, Powerman attacked Genki with some 40 1-2-2 hydras and 8 Lurkers. Luckily, with 5 Hatcheries he soon made 2 dozen new lings to help his already huge force of cracklings. Even though the mineral only was razed, Powerman lost a lot more.
I took a glance at BetterThanU and say around 30 1-0-2 mutas and some 12 cacoons. GUARDIANS!!!!!! He took this attack force and bunched them closely together (he new none of the other players had hives, so there was no threat of plague, and obviously Psi Storm wasn’t a very big threat) and snuck up behind Genki’s hatchery. Genki sent his 20 mutas and a few token hydras but to no avail. His main was soon razed, and his natuaral fell as the Spore colonies were blown up or vaporized or whatever by the Guardians. Soon, the revenge was complete as the ‘Genki was eliminated’ message appeared.
Powerman was getting ready for this new threat and qued up his hydras at his choke, only to see Guardians spitting out icky blobs of green goo out at the drones and hatchery at his natural, from the ledge below it. The base was soon lost, and the mutas charged at the hydras while guardians blew away the spore colonies defending the main and waltzed right in, massacring the remaining troops. Soon, nothing but hydralisk corpses and large holes were buildings once stood remained. He had a couple of Lurkers, which turned into red slime as soon as overlords reached the scene.
At this point, Powerman said GG and left. BetterthanU had make a huge come back, from having 2 sunken colonies, 1 Lair, and a Spire left after Genki’s lings devestated him, to winning the game. A few lessons learned:
-ALWAYS FOLLOW UP AN ATTACK!!! The fact Genki didn’t attack BetterThenU after his initial attack COST HIM THE GAME! SCOUT TO!!!!! If he saw the Spire, I doubt he would have attacked Powerman instead.
-LURKERS
-UTILIZE GUARDIAN RANGE!!!! The hydralisks simply couldn’t reach the Guardians, and the Hatchery was lost.
NOTE: This is my first BR, please give me some advice. I am relatively new to Nohunters and BR.com. I have read a lot of reports and tried to adapt my own style of writing. On my next one, I am going to use one of the HTML guides, right now I am copying and pasting from word.
