Lifetime Rating for TeRRanFlaVoR aka Whoop: 6.5000 |   | Well this isn't a great batle report, but I post it because it was pretty damn funny and maybe some people can learn what NOT to do. We all wonder how can a terran beat the mighty protoss. How damnit? Well this report wont tell you - but it will definately tell you what NOT to do.
THE SCENE
In channel nohunters and playing some good games. Got to team up with KingCrimson and had some fun with others...anyways soon some guy named Beast and Choboslayer show up and start proclaiming how they are the shiznuts and how incredible they are. They are dissin Gigggles and Epo and blah blah blah
Anyways....the conversation turns to terrans being underpowered and imbalance issues yadda yadda yo....Beast declares he is the best terran player on Bnet. A person named Brakus@Can takes exception to this comment and after some smack talking on both sides its decided a 1v1 is to be played. I was really excited to see this match. Having just had my ass handed to me by Brakus I know he is good. I have never seen Beast B 4 and he has only played 8 games... obviously he is a smurf. He sure talked a good game. Could it be that I was to finally learn how the great ones play terran?
PREGAME
I wish I had transcripts of what occurred in the game....there was some seriously funny banter going on. It took a LONG time to get the game going and we had to restart 3 times but finally the game began.
THE BATTLE
1v1 on Lost Temple
Beast elected terran and his command center landed at 3 and he cloned his scvs to diff pathes and went depot on 8 rax on 10 then gas and a factory.
Brakus warped in at 12 with the imbalanced warrior clan and cloned his probes and went pylon on 8 - then to double gate.
THE SMACK
Damnit Im gonna get a low ass rating becasue I cant remember the funny stuff they were sayin....needless to say Beast was attempting to smack talk but in the battle of words Brakus was wittier by far. Interestingly enough Beast had a scv sitting idle for a good 30 seconds....I began to think maybe Beast was legendary only in his own shower....
Back to the action
Both players use workers to get some early recon and soon Brak sends in his first zlot over to take a look. Seeing no bunker and 2 marines standing with their rifles at their sides he grins and messages hie brethern that are warping in to come join the fray. At first Beast attempts to dance his marines to avoid any casualties. Unfortunately his skillz betray him and on marine falls...and then another. He begins construction of a bunker and a brief skimish ensues. As one zealot falls 2 more take his place and one scv after another gives his life attempting to complete the bunker. As a vulture pops out the bunker is finally completed at things appear to be looking better for the Beast. Beast has also started construction of another factory and has an the machine shop whirring on his first.
Unfortunately the price to errect the bunker was high...3 marines died and 4 or 5 scvs for the price of 3 zealots... as beast breaths a sigh or relief for things appear to be calming down a bit 3 more lots show up looking to kill things.
Meanwhile
Back home Brakus has warped in an assimilator and started a core. Here we realize that Brakus is a good multi=tasker. He was able to micro his z-lots while managing his base. This is a skill I have yet to begin to master. My guess is that I never will. :(
The Big Error
Beast (self proclaimed best terran on Bnet) has made a critical error which dramatically shortens the length of the game. He has erected his bunker out of range of 2 supply depots. It doesnt take long for 5 zealots to take down a depot and soon Beast is starving. Things only get worse as a couple of mamoth dragoons enter the field. But wait..... the vultures are now equipted with deadly spider mines. Beast cunningly lays a mine directly next to 3 goons and 4 lots. Amazingly perhaps by luck or perhaps he really is just that good Brakus KILLS all the mines after they pop up before they are able to detonate.
More goons and range is completed....also a couple of Dark Temps just for fun end up killing the best damn terran on Bnet in a whoppin 8 minutes.
Beast demands a rematch and begins to show his true colors. Indeed he will offer his best ladder account (supposedly 1300) to any account Brakus wants to play. Brakus's friend messages me that Brak has an account over 1500 and I don;t doubt it. Brak declines dismissing Beast to fume and scream gay insults causing me to squelch him.
Lessons Learned
1. Dont talk smack to people unless you can back it up. I have no respect for Beast. None.
2. If you are going skip making an early bunker, you really need good recon. If Beast had seen the zealot coming he could have put his bunker up in the right spot.
3. PUT YOUR BUNKER IN THE RIGHT SPOT. Its not that tought to position your buildings so they are all covered by a bunker (especially at the 3 spot on temple)
