Before you go on to read the game, I want to tell you a bit about me and some other miscellaneous stuff (and let the 4.1 mb of images load up). My b.net name is Rommel_1942, and my record on that name is 2-6-2. My lifetime record would be something like 9-25-5.
Some of you may know Rommel from World War II. Let me assure you that he was NOT a Nazi, and I am NOT a Nazi. Rommel did not support the Nazi regime; he was fighting the war for Germany, not Hitler. He may have been close to Hitler, but in terms of politics, Rommel made sure that he didn't make any waves. My name is meant to show my admiration for him, not that I have the skills and genius that he had. The first person that throws an accusation of me being a Nazi will have the semi-pleasurable feeling of having my Korean size 9s shoved 18 feet up his/her ass; semi-pleasurable for you in the sense that Koreans just have that effect on people in whatever they do, but not for me since ass-crust is not my idea of a sexual turn-on.
But anyway! Some of my pics should have loaded up by now, so let's get on to the game! Which is, of course, played on Lost Temple!
The players will be kept anonymous until the end of the game, and shall be referred to as "Terran" and "Protoss." Protoss warped in at the 6:00 position, and Terran began its mechanization at 12:00.
The Builds
Both players built peons up to 7 control. Initial build-orders seemed to reveal an intent to rush on Protoss's part; he went 7-Pylon, 9-Gate, and 10-Gate. A Probe, from here-on called, "Oyokishinu," had been sent out to scout in a clockwise pattern. He was the 2nd Probe built, and Oyokishinu had the intent of making himself the Alpha Probe in the Probe group. Unfortunately, as Oyokishinu attempted to assault a Marine with his Ass-Raping Device of Porntm, the Marine pissed on Oyokishinu and made it his personal bitch. Er...I mean, his personal Saigon Whore. Oyokishinu was then re-named "Ming Li."
Oyokishinu was not bitch-made in vain, however, as it had utilized its Voyeurism Opticstm(aka, WebCam 2000) to send its reconaissance photos back to base. The Terran group had utilized an odd strategy -- instead of walling in, it had left its choke open on a 7-Rax, 8-Depot, 10-Gas build. Weird. Terran then realized that a rush would have to expected, and set up a second rax on 14, and an Academy at 16 control.
Both players began to pump units at this point; Protoss producing Zealots from three Gateways, and Terran producing Marines and eventually Firebats and Medics.
Here you see a control group of Zealots and equal their number in Marines, along with a handful of Firebats. Terran seems to be keeping his units in that area as protection from a possible Reaver rush. He is also constructing a Bunker at his choke, and sending a large portion of his troops out of his base to attack. Protoss, of course, is amassing his troops for the attack also just outside his choke. No upgrades; this is about 10 mins into the game. Who will be made who's bitch?
The ferocious battle begins; gunfire erupts, shattering the once-silent field of grass around the opposing troops and sending metal slivers snapping past the Protoss ranks. Far away, the shimmering flicker of plasma shields can be seen bursting into the air as the Zealot group marches forward, undaunted by the heavy fire. There is almost a pause in the action as the Zealots close with the Terran force; then, there is chaos, as Psionic Blades rip into flesh and shatter bone, scattering the Terran bodies into the air and sending shredded flesh to the ground. Fire erupts from farther ahead; there is a second charge. Firebats and Medics support the Marine ranks, this time, and there are a few Zealots who falter under the barrage of fire. The heavy Guass Rifle fire seems to intensify impossibly as flamethrowers sweep forward, and atleast one Zealot is incinerated, then cut to pieces as the metal slivers cut into him. His comrades push forward, surrounding the Terran group in a semi-circle and killing them all in a few moments. Their screams still echo in the field as the remaining Zealots move forward into Terran's choke, assaulting the Bunker and cutting it down, then killing the Marines that attempt to run out of the burning structure. Two men come to assist their fallen buds -- they are surrounded and killed. By now, only three Zealots remain from the original twelve. These move forward into the Terran base, attacking a Firebat, Marine, and Medic. The Firebat kills all three of the wounded and limping Zealots.
The initial battle had brought about heavy casualties on both sides, and no clear sign of a strategic victory, although tactically, the Protoss group was the clear victor. During this time, Protoss had expanded to his natural, and in his violent attack, forced his Terran counterpart to turtle for a bit.
Protoss also began construction of a Robotics Facility and Templar Archives. It's also about this time that I notice that Terran has no detection up; he is vulnerable to a DT attack. He has, however, begun construction of an Engineering Bay, and is probably going to set up Turrets around his main. By now, though, he has gotten three Tanks and a considerable number of infantry, and a second Factory. There are also a significant number of Vultures mining the choke to his natural and the area around his base.
Protoss is not one to remain motionless; he moves a control group of units up to 9:00's natural, and begins construction of a new expansion.
This also sets the stage for the next battle. A patrolling Marine is killed as he discovers the 9:00 expansion, and Terran immediately begins to rally his small army near his mineral-only. I count 4 Tanks and atleast a control group of Marines with Medics. They will combat 5 goons with range-upgrades and 6 Speeded Zealots, both of which have +1 to attack and shields. This will be a hard fight.
Protoss must make a decision; wait for his Templar to get to his base, and thereby allow his Terran opponent to reinforce his position, or attack now, and hopefully catch the Terran off-guard. He chooses to attack, and the heavy, bloody fighting that ensues is the worst that any of the Protoss troops have seen. The Siege Modes fire down on the approaching Zealots, killing one in the torrent of fire and seriously wounding several others; small-arms fire erupts a moment later, pouring into the Zealots and goons. The Protoss troops push forward, shaken but not broken, and engage the Terran troops with an aggressiveness that stuns them. The hum of Psionic Blades roars to life, and the cacophony of small-arms and artillery fire is intertwined with the ripping of flesh and the piercing of armor. One of the Tanks is obliterated by Dragoon cannon fire, and nearly half the Marines are shred to pieces as the Zealot spearhead tears into them. Medics, frantically working to tend to the wounded, are pouring their hearts into the task in vain, as every lost Marine is stabbed over and over by the Psionic Blades of the Zealot group. The salvos of the Siege Modes are exacting a costly toll on the Zealots, though, and by the time they break through the Marine ranks, only three remain alive. All but one fall to the fire of a single Siege Tank, but the four remaining goons easily manage to take out the Siege Modes shortly after. Protoss decides to exploit his victory and rushes over to Terran's main, but is intercepted by a large group of Marines on the way to Terran's choke.
Five Protoss units are forced to engage the control group of Marines and one Vulture; even with their upgrades, the four weakened goons have not a chance against the Terran troops. Each one falls to heavy Guass Rifle fire, each one exploding and spilling the globules of blue blood of the Dragoon warrior out onto ground. Four Marines fall in the feeble goon attack. It was a heavy counter-blow to the Protoss offensive.
Of course, no one can win every battle.
Luckily for Terran, the Protoss warriors did not run into his undefended expansion at his natural.
Shortly after, Terran expands to the 3:00 and its expansion.
Terran techs to Science Facility and then a Covert Operations module, going for Ghosts, and eventually Lock Down. Protoss has gotten dual Star Gates, and now a Fleet Beacon. I believe that we may see Carriers in the next few minutes.
It seems that our Terran friend here may be able to switch over the offensive if he plays his cards right. And, it seems that our Terran friend gets a free kill.
I do not like Ghosts. Especially when they Lock Down your goon and kill it. Lock Down should be outlawed because of its sexual and pornographic nature. It should be replaced by a "Spriggan Suit" spell, which causes the Ghost's suit to enhance his muscles and produces a long knife in a hilt at the small of his back; when activated, the Ghost becomes incredibly fast and stabs people in the throat with the knife, all the while screaming, "Moshi moshi!? Saki saki ten dollah!"
Ah...but I digress.
Protoss has not been idle during this time. From his two Star Gates, a mix of Corsairs and Scouts have been warping in for quite a while, and Zealots/Templar are streaming from his Gateways in a steady rythm. And, after scouting Terran's lightly-defended expansion with an Observer, his eyes are set on the strangling of Terran's resource supply.
Protoss's forces are rallied outside of his natural again, minus the support of his Templar. He moves to the 3:00 expansion, encountering a lone Barracks on the way and an SCV; these are razed, and after a short pause, the Protoss forces engage the first line of resistance...a Bunker. D-web is placed upon it, followed by Scout Pulse Cannon fire. Small numbers of Wraiths and a single Valkrie approach the Protoss air fleet, but are quickly shot down without much trouble; these first few pockets of Terran resistance are followed by Goliaths and Marines, but with the effective use of Disruption Web, all are eliminated with little to no casualties. Back at the natural, Zealot troops and a small number of Scouts combat Siege Tanks and Marines hidden in Bunkers. Ghosts appear as the Zealots climb the ramp, locking down a few Scouts but dying soon after as an Observer enters the fray. A few Firebats charge into battle, halting the determined advance only for a moment. Flame engulfs the ramp as gas tanks are ignited by the flares of Psionic Blades, and the Zealots rush through the acrid smoke, roaring their anger and determination. The Siege Tank on the cliff is neutralized by Scouts and Zealots; the Bunker is enveloped and saturated by Scout fire and Zealot attacks. The few Wraiths and Goliaths left at the 9:00 main are out-maneuvered by the swift Protoss assault, and as they explode, Zealot troops divert their attention to the Terran structures as new waves of Scouts and Carriers soar into the main, scything a wide path of destruction into the Terran's expansion.
Simultaneously, Terran reinforcements begin their counter-attack on the Protoss offensive, hoping to stall the advance and eventually push the attackers out of the resource node.
They are halted by a small group of goons supported by Zealots and Templar. Marines charge recklessly into the Protoss formation, only to be neutralized by the Disruption Webs of several Corsairs. They attempt to fire, but the electronic optics on their Gauss Rifles do not respond to their commands. Goon fire pours into their ranks, killing a large portion of their number; Psi Storm rips into their psychic essense, ripping apart their minds and tearing their physical bodies to shreds in the same instant. Vultures vainly fire on the goons in an attempt to take them down, but a maneuver group of Zealots flank them and destroy them easily. Twin Siege Mode fire hits the Zealot group; aggressivley, typically, they charge, nullifying the Siege Mode's range advantage and destroying one, then tearing across the dirt to the second. It attempts to go mobile again, but it is too late to escape; the screams of its crew are heard even at the 9:00 main, where the battle is just coming to a close.
It is a stunning and crippling blow to the Terran's economy. He attempts to rebuild his army, most of which had been wasted in futile small-unit actions to defeat the Protoss forces, but with only one mining expansion left, that task seems daunting. There is not enough time...and Protoss is not going to take off any pressure on the crippled Terran.
The final battle is reminiscent of the desperate struggle in Stalingrad; Terran troops are forced to stand their ground and fight, with not the faintest glimmer of hope with them. D-Web is put to deadly use in this last battle. Scouts and Carriers raze the last Terran outpost with a stunning ease and grace.
Small groups of Marines with Goliaths and Tanks attempt to hold back the endless tide of Protoss material and D-web; they fight hard, stalling the advance for as long as they live. Each man and crew fights to their last breath, their friends dying around them, their units bleeding slowly to death in the last struggle for survival. Slowly, very slowly, the Terran army bleeds its life out onto the fields of the Lost Temple.
And so ends a stunning war of such destruction and dazzling speed that I was a bit surprised that it was already over...after the first few fights, I had expected something longer, something more epic. But, there had been enough blood shed for one day. The warriors of Aiur may rest -- atleast for a little while. The call of the Lost Temple may yet rise again.
And the players are finally revealed...they were both computers. Thank you and good night.
